BREAKING: US President Donald Trump Announces 3-Day Ceasefire Between Russia & Ukraine

[00:00:00]US President Donald Trump announced that the leaders of Russia and Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin, have agreed to his request for a three-day ceasefire and an exchange of prisoners, adding that such a halt to hostilities could be the beginning of the end of the long war between them.

[00:00:18]The ongoing talks aim for a permanent end to the conflict, as described by President Trump as the biggest since World War II. Trump personally requested the truce, which was agreed upon by Putin and Zelensky. We'll have to see what happens, but uh they have no military.

[00:00:52]So uh it could very well be. I asked and uh President Putin agreed, President Zelensky agreed, both readily. And we have a a little period of time where they're not going to be killing people.

[00:01:04]That's very good. And they also agreed to give a thousand on each side, a thousand prisoners back. So they're going to be uh transferring almost immediately a thousand prisoners from each side.

By order of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, I confirm that the Russian side finds acceptable the initiative just proposed by US President Donald Trump regarding a ceasefire for the exchange of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine. This agreement was reached during our phone contacts with the US administration. The US representatives in turn were in touch with Kyiv. The main point is that it has been agreed to carry out a prisoner exchange during the ceasefire period from May 9th to May 11th inclusive, involving 1,000 prisoners from each side. We welcome this initiative, which is going on in the the of the recent telephone conversation of the presidents of Russia and the United States, in which leaders have especially emphasized that our countries have been allies in the years of World War II, and also discussed the possibility of a ceasefire during the celebration of the Victory Day. And it is important that the initiative of President Trump is dedicated to the 81st anniversary of victory over Nazism, our holy holiday.
