A sharp explanation of the biological trade-off that turns a common male insecurity into a simple matter of hormonal efficiency. It effectively demystifies the cruel irony of why your beard thrives while your scalp retreats.

Are Beards and Baldness Connected? Answered!Added:
If the head hair is a little bit messy and a little bit crazy, don't blame me.
I was wearing a hat before this and I tried to kind of rough it up a little bit to make it look good. Also, if you're bald and watching this and this video hits too close to home, don't be throwing no shade at me because the lettuce still be dripping up top. But I rest assured, you guys, I assure you, my day is coming. There's a little bit of thinage going on. I'm about to be reaching that time where I got to start considering buzzing it or shaving it.
I'm not there yet, though. Sam doesn't want me to be there yet. But regardless, today's video is a commonly discussed and asked about topic and question, and that would be, are beards and male head hair baldness related? And the answer is yes. It might not be exactly in the way that you think, but that's why we're making this video to help explain what's going on. Essentially, the best summary is the fuel to a beard. What makes it stronger, healthier, thicker is the same fuel that can, not always, not will, but can shrink the follicles on your scalp and cause male pattern baldness. And that is, say it with me you guys, one who one, two, three, DHT.
It is the male sex hormone. It's what gives us deeper voices. It's what gives us chest hair. It gives us beards and it can also give us male pattern baldness.
Now, a huge word that has to be used when we're discussing this is sensitivity. Not when you cry because you're watching a chick flick, but sensitivity to the receptors of DHT. We can get into the science mumbo jumbo, but that doesn't impress anybody, especially if they don't understand what that means.
What is summarized would be DHT allows us to grow facial hair and grow beards.
If you are sensitive to DHT on your scalp on the follicles that make up the hair up here, that same thing unfortunately shrinks the follicle and eventually makes that hair fall out permanently. It's a bittersweet thing where you can get a good manly beard, but you're also going to go bald. And it's also bittersweet where the more testosterone you have. Generally speaking, the healthier you are as a man, the more likely you are to go bald.
Now, that's not everybody. There are freaks of nature. Now, I say that as a term of endearment. Sometimes people like, Dan Sam will even be like, "Don't call people freaks." I'm like, "No, no, that's a good thing, right? If you're an athlete, someone's like, "Dude, that dude's a freak." That's a good thing.
That's a great compliment. There are some freaks in nature out there that are just raging in DHT, just oozing in testosterone. They have a wonderful beard and they got a full scalp of lettuce into their 50s and into their 60s. That means they have DHT and their follicles on their scalp are not sensitive to it. They are the vast minority. That does not happen commonly.
And I'll take it a step further of proving this you guys. And I will link studies down in the description. This is not regurgitated information. This is not wives tales that I'm just saying cuz I heard here and there. Real studies in the description. Check them out. Here's the easiest way to prove that this is true. What age is the average peak beard genetic growth? Right? We know it's not 20. When you see 20 year olds, they often have the chin strap and don't have the best beard. It's not even 30. We know many people that grew their best beard well into their 30s. On average in America, it's actually 42 years old.
Now, many of you know that because I've covered videos about it in the past and talked about it on live streams, but 42 years old. If we were to look at the average of the people in your life, the men in your life of when they really start going bald. Oh, whoa, Dan. It is.
It's in their early 40s. Why? A buddy who went bald at 20. Yes, there are exceptions to everything. I had a buddy who's 75 and still full head of hair. We talked about it. Sensitivity. That's old news.
Early 40s on average is when you can start to see the guys losing their hair.
I'm 37 turning 38 like I don't know around the time of this video within a week or so. May 11th. Come on now. But I'm getting there. I'm not quite there yet, but I'm getting there. How crazy is it that peak beard genetics reach peak baldness levels for age? Woo, that checks out. Yes. So, to wrap this up, 100%.
Male pattern baldness and beards are related, but it's not quite as direct as you think. DHT is the culprit. Down below, what does your beard and baldness journey look like? Do you have any questions? Do you have any other experiences or add-ons that you want to put on this video? I think this will help kind of answer the question and rest assure any worries or doubts you have about it. Can't wait to read these comments. You guys stay bearded, bald or not, it's up to you. And stay positive.
Thank you guys for watching. Dancy bearded.
