iPhone messages turn green when they are sent as SMS text messages through your cellular carrier instead of as iMessages through the internet via your Apple ID. To switch back to blue iMessage bubbles, you can toggle iMessage off and on in Settings > Messages, ensure you're connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data, reset network settings in Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset Network Settings, or perform a hard restart by pressing volume up, volume down, and holding the side button until the Apple logo appears.

Why Are My iPhone Messages Green? The Easy Switch Back To BlueAdded:
If you're messaging with somebody and it's normally a blue text message bubble, but it has switched over to green and you're not necessarily sure why, and you want it to get it back to iMessage, I'm going to walk you through everything there is to know about how to switch it back to being a blue bubble.
Now, the first thing you're going to do is if you see the message and it looks like this. Normally, they're blue and it has switched over to green. The reason for that is blue is iMessage. However, green you can see text message SMS. This is a text message when it is green sent through your carrier and not through the internet through your Apple ID account.
So, let's fix that.
Tap on the settings app on your iPhone.
Scroll down to the bottom.
Tap on apps at the bottom.
Scroll down again until you get to messages.
Tap on messages.
Scroll down.
Toggle iMessage off for a few seconds.
Wait a few seconds and then toggle it back on. You can see waiting for activation.
After you see send and receive, tap on that number and make sure the phone number is selected and you can also choose to select an email address as well. Sometimes it works through email and not the phone number.
Next, let's tap the back arrow. Tap back again. Tap back yet again and scroll to the top.
Tap on Wi-Fi and check to see if you're connected to a Wi-Fi network. If you're sending a blue text message bubble, it either needs to go through the Wi-Fi network or the cell data network. So, connect to a Wi-Fi network if possible and then tap back.
Tap on cellular and make sure cellular data is toggled on and you're using your cell data.
If it still doesn't work for you, tap the back arrow, scroll down, tap on general, scroll down to the bottom, tap on transfer or reset iPhone, tap on reset, and then choose reset network settings.
This will reset all of your network settings after you enter in the passcode, fixing all of the issues with the connectivity between your phone and the servers that send those blue text message bubbles. If it is still not working for you, the last thing you can do is a hard restart on your phone.
To do that, we're going to press the volume up, press the volume down, and then press and hold that side button until you see an Apple logo.
So, I'll show you how it works. Volume up, volume down, and then press and hold that side button.
You're just going to keep holding it even though it says slide to power off, and eventually the entire iPhone screen will go black, but just keep holding it until you see the Apple logo appear.
When you do, let go of all your fingers, and at that point you have done a hard restart on your iPhone, fixing the blue, or rather green, text message bubble and switching over to blue.
I hope this helps. If you enjoyed this video, check out the video over to my right. I think you're really like that one as well. And thanks for watching.
