On the channel right now, we are breaking down a wild modernday debate where atheist Matt sits across from Howard, a creationist who claims to have evidence for God, Noah's ark, and even the actual existence of the devil. What starts as a structured philosophical conversation about evidence quickly turns into one of the most heated exchanges I've watched in a while. And the way Matt finally responds to Howard's framing is something you genuinely have to see for yourself. Stay locked in for the entire breakdown because the energy keeps escalating right up until the end. And the final stretch is where Matt completely takes control of the room in a way that surprised me. When it comes to Noah's Arc, um I I didn't know what to expect, so I went and did some research on people who have recently even written articles about the possibility of finding Noah's arc. we have good evidence for Noah's ark. So you have the ark encounter from Answers in Genesis that on October 19th of this year, so just just like 8 days ago, updated an article uh with a video and the article ends with the statement, despite many supposed sightings and evidence in Mount Eer, it seems unlikely that Noah's Ark has been found in recent times. National Geographic in November 2020, it posted an article on why Noah's arc will never be found. In in 2020, the Institute for Creation Research acknowledged that Noah's Ark had not been found and is unlikely to be found.

[00:02:35]There have been many hoaxes and foraggeries. Nothing substantive. No reputable science or archaeological organization supports any claim confirming the existence of Noah's Ark.

[00:02:43]If it ever existed, it's incredibly unlikely that it still exists in any recognizable form. And if it did, that would almost be miraculous. Which means if God wanted to present it as evidence, then he could.

[00:02:56]Ken Ham even in in 2021 wrote an article basically saying, "Hey, you guys are probably seeing a bunch of new articles about Noah's Ark being found. We've known about this for a while. It's probably not Noah's Arc. We don't have any good reason to think it is." When the Institute for Creation Research, the answers in Genesis, when those incredibly dubious organizations aren't even on board with Noah's Ark being found, I don't know that anybody could confirm that Noah's Ark has been found or that there's good evidence for it.

[00:03:24]And if all you're going to do is point to marine life at high altitudes and you're ignoring all of the things about plate tectonics and other things, you haven't in any way shown that Noah's arc exists or that the story is true or that it points to a god. Now, the devil, the one that I was most interested in discussing today, hail Satan. I'm not a Satanist, but I I find it amusing and and funny um that there are Satanists, atheists who are Satanists. Um and it terrifies some people. He's a fallen angel. He's also called Lucifer, Satan, the Dragon, Old Scratch, the enemy, liar, Bub. And I want to know what was the historical and actual evidence.

[00:04:07]I'm not aware that we got any at all.

[00:04:10]Um, there are stories of people who have sold their soul to be rich or famous or really great at guitar. And if you were to claim someone sold their soul to be a great guitar player, you don't then get to use their great guitar playing ability as evidence that they sold their soul. That would be a circular argument.

[00:04:26]You don't get to claim that the discovery of a boatlike structure is confirmation of a global flood or that the discovery of marine life at high altitude is confirmation of a global flood. You have to make a demonstration of what the best explanation is. And you don't get to claim that the appearance of design is actually evidence of a design. And you certainly don't get to highlight mathematical curiosities and claim that this is evidence of design.

[00:04:52]That's not what evidence is. Evidence consistent with something isn't enough.

[00:04:57]The appearance of design is consistent with actual design and it's consistent with non-design.

[00:05:03]This right here is the part of the debate that should genuinely embarrass every single person who has ever tried to argue Noah's ark as evidence for God.

[00:05:14]Because Matt does something so devastating in the opening that the entire creationist position collapses before Howard even gets a word in. You have to understand what Matt actually did here. He went directly to the creationist establishment itself, the people who exist for the sole purpose of defending Noah's ark, and he pulled their own words out of their mouths.

[00:05:38]When Matt brings up that answers in Genesis themselves, the people who literally built a giant ark replica in Kentucky admitted in their own article that despite many supposed sightings and evidence on Mount Ararat, it seems unlikely that Noah's ark has been found in recent times. That is game over. That is the apologetics equivalent of the prosecution's star witness pleading the fifth. And then Matt takes it further.

[00:06:07]He invokes the National Geographic article, the Institute for Creation Research, even Ken Ham himself, and he stacks them all in a row like dominoes.

[00:06:18]Then he drops the line that I think about every time someone tries to push the Noah's Arc argument online.

[00:06:24]Matt said this. When the Institute for Creation Research answers in Genesis, when those incredibly dubious organizations aren't even on board with Noah's Ark being found, let that sink in for a second. He just called the most aggressive creationist organizations on the planet dubious. And the only counter Howard offers is more pebbles. Then Matt opens the devil topic with one of the funniest lines of the night when he goes, "Hail Satan. I'm not a Satanist, but I find it amusing. That's not him mocking believers. That's him pointing out how absurd it is that we're being asked to take seriously a creature with five different aliases and zero evidence behind any of them. And the moment he says you don't get to claim that the discovery of a boatlike structure is confirmation of a global flood, the entire framework Howard is leaning on cracks open because that line is the rule of evidence. and Howard never once stops violating it.

[00:07:24]>> Evidence are facts that are consistent with a proposition.

[00:07:33]Facts that support a proposition to explain some observation or state of affairs. And so when you're going through to come up with a candidate explanation for something, you have to list all of the possible candidate explanations. Show why they are candidate explanations. show that they should be considered candidate explanations because otherwise you're going to have an infinite supply. Even though I don't like using infinite as a quantity, but an infinite series of potential explanations because oh, it could be a red-headed god, a a green-headed god, a blue-headed god.

[00:08:02]Every factor you every every specific criteria you add to this makes it increasingly less likely, less specific.

[00:08:09]So, how do we identify the devil?

[00:08:13]Well, the only thing I heard is that throughout history, some people have believed in the devil.

[00:08:21]There are things to watch out for. There are a number of fallacies. Argument from incredility, argument from ignorance.

[00:08:26]But first of all, citing the Bible is going to be irrelevant.

[00:08:31]Figuring out what other explanations might exist could be relevant.

[00:08:36]But to just say this all seems incredibly implausible or improbable unless there's a god isn't evidence and it's barely an argument. And I'm pretty sure that it's a an a non-demonstrable unfalsifiable position. Um when you point to a bunch of smart people believe something that's also not evidence for it. I I genuinely and I and I'll stop here because I hit my There we go. I hit my 13 minutes, but I I have strong objections to continuing this debate, but I'll do it.

[00:10:04]>> Thank you, Ryan. Um not that it matters, but if you Google the word actual, it has two meanings and one of the meanings is current present. So, just to correct you on that, Matt, not that it matters, but I've noticed you said it the other night as well. Um, I've shown evidence um that's reproducible, but I see that people that have got faith in mainstream narratives and secondary information, they seem to be in denial. Because if you were truly a skeptic, you'd be interested in going to verify if pebbles do often have the heart shape. And if the heart-shaped stones do have many of these reoccurring features and details that correlate with anatomy, that would be a true skeptic. But otherwise, just to ignore it, like many people do shows me that you're in denial. And maybe it's cognitive dissonance or maybe it's because you're you're just scared of the consequences of final judgment. I don't know. But it's it's it's it's crazy cuz you're always asking for evidence and that's literally what I've done. 13 minutes of evidence.

[00:11:21]>> No, I my apologies first of all. Um >> Okay, now we get to the part of the debate that genuinely separates the two men intellectually. And I want every viewer watching to really lock in here because this is the moment where Matt teaches an actual epistemology lesson and Howard cannot follow it. The single most important concept Matt drops in this entire stretch is when he explains evidence are facts that are consistent with a proposition. Facts that support a proposition. That is the rule. That is the bar. That is what every claim in human history has to clear if it wants to be taken seriously. And Howard's pebbles, his stones, his Mount Everest argument, none of it clears that bar.

[00:12:09]Then Matt does something I genuinely respect. He calls out the fallacies by name. He says argument from incredul, argument from ignorance. And that's the part that blows my mind because most people don't even know those terms exist.

[00:12:23]Let me break down why that matters.

[00:12:25]Argument from incredility is when somebody says,"I personally cannot imagine how this happened, therefore it didn't." And argument from ignorance is when somebody says, "We don't know the answer, so my answer must be right."

[00:12:40]These two fallacies have been the spine of religious apologetics for literally centuries, and Matt just dragged them into the daylight in less than 10 seconds. But then Howard pivots, and this is where it gets unhinged. Howard demands that being a true skeptic means going out to verify the heart-shaped pebble theory yourself. He says, and I want to be precise here, that if pebbles often have the harp shape and the harpshaped stones have many reoccurring features and details that correlate with anatomy, that would be a true skeptic.

[00:13:15]Do you hear what he's doing? He's redefining skepticism to mean you have to take his extraordinary claim seriously enough to investigate it personally before you're allowed to dismiss it. That's not skepticism.

[00:13:28]That's a customer service request. And then Howard says the line that exposes everything. He suggests Matt might be scared of the consequences of final judgment. That is not an argument. That is a threat dressed up as concern.

[00:13:45]Atheists hear this exact line a thousand times in their lives and the moment a believer reaches for it, you know they have run out of evidence and started reaching for emotional leverage, Matt doesn't even flinch.

[00:13:58]>> I don't think you lecturing me on whether or not I'm a real skeptic is probably going to go over well for you at all in this debate. Um, but how do you know that I've ignored whether or not stones often have that shape?

[00:14:14]First of all, just on the skeptic points, I take No, I'll take you on on the skeptic thing first. Yeah, because you've accused me. You've accused me.

[00:14:23]You've accused me of ignoring and not looking into whether or not stones have that shape. How do you know that I've done that?

[00:14:30]>> Well, you haven't mentioned it in your opening statement. You just kept talking about the Mount Everest. Howard, do you realize that my opening statement was written before I knew you were going to babble on about the shape of stones? But you accused me of ignoring and you see that if I'm not I'm not a real skeptic or I wouldn't I wouldn't go out and look to see if stones actually have that shape. How do you know what my position is on the shape of stones?

[00:14:56]Because if you had been out and looked at the stones that the smooth stones that we find in four different environments like I showed four completely different environments giving the same results you would either agree that there's something to it or you'd have your own evidence or reasons why you don't agree but you didn't even mention so I'm answering >> I'm asking you again Howard how do you know that I haven't done it >> because you didn't mention it in your opening statement which you Howard, why on earth? No, no, no, sir.

[00:15:28]How on earth am I supposed to mention something? How on earth am I supposed to mention something in my opening statement that I don't know is going to be addressed?

[00:16:16]And I have to say, I cheered when I watched it back because for the entire debate up until this point, Matt has been holding the line, staying calm, citing sources, naming fallacies, doing real intellectual work, and Howard has been responding by attacking Matt personally and calling him not a real skeptic. There is only so much of that any human can take. And the the moment Matt decides he's done playing nice is the moment this entire video earns its watch time. When Matt says, "How do you realize that opening statement was written before I knew you were going to babble on about the shape of stones?" He is doing two things at once. He is exposing the absurdity of Howard demanding Matt Robot, a theory Matt didn't even know was coming. and he is reducing Howard's entire position to its real intellectual weight, which is babble about stones. That is one of the cleanest mic drop lines I've heard in a debate this year. It's not a slur. It's not cruel. It's just an honest description of what Howard is actually doing. Then he stacks the haymaker. Matt says, "I wrote my opening statement before you gave your gibberish."

[00:17:32]Gibberish. It is gibberish.

[00:17:35]He says it three times. Three times.

[00:17:38]That repetition isn't accidental. That's a man who has reached the end of his patience and decided he is no longer going to dress up the truth politely.

[00:17:47]Howard's argument was gibberish, and Matt refused to let the audience walk away thinking it was anything else. And then we get the line that should be printed on a poster in every debate hall on Earth.

[00:18:00]Matt asks, "Is this debate about your evidence or is it about whether or not I'm a real skeptic? Because let's focus on the actual evidence and stop making it about me." This is the entire problem with conspiracy theory style apologetics in one sentence. When the believer has no evidence, they make the conversation about your character. They make it about your skepticism, your motives, your fears, anything except the burden of proof they were supposed to carry. And Matt refuses to play. He explicitly says, "I won't entertain any conversation at all about it." That is what intellectual self-respect looks like. You know what this whole exchange reminds me of? The famous Russell's teapot argument from the philosopher Bertrand Russell back in 1952.

[00:18:51]Russell said, "If I told you there was a tiny teapot orbiting the sun between Earth and Mars, too small for any telescope to detect, the burden of proof would not fall on you to disprove it. It would fall on me to prove it exists."

[00:19:06]Matt is doing the exact same thing here, just applied to pebbles, dragons, and devils. The believer makes the claim, the believer carries the burden. End of story.
