I Bought $5K of Silver... Now I'm Worried

It's what happens when you and I as regular people, we try to buy this metal. When I show you what happened when I tried to put $5,000 into silver, it's going to make you really open your eyes and second guess what actually is happening. Check this out.

[00:00:42]Now, these are American silver eagles that I'm showing you on your screen. And in fact, while I show you those eagles here, I'll show you a proof eagle just because I love these. And the real issue that I just hit while trying to put $5,000 into silver is twofold. First, the silver price is hovering between $70 and $80. And at the time of this recording, we're right in the middle.

[00:01:05]We're around $75 an ounce. That is the new 20 to30. And when I say that, for all of you OG silverbacks, all of you silver stackers that have been in this game long before silver just got exciting back in January, the OGs, all of you. First, I I love that you tell me in the comments. Please keep doing that.

[00:01:28]Tell me where you're from. I love hearing that, too. Now, you know that the premiums on certain products, they sometimes they're enormous. Sometimes those premiums just stick. we can't get rid of them. And at the same time, we have a metal that just last year we were able to pick up at around $30 an ounce. And for years, we were hovering between 20 to $30 an ounce. That was obtainable for just regular people. That was within reach to buy uh governmentissued sovereign coinage or rounds.

[00:02:05]with a premium you were looking at about 35 maybe at worst pushing toward $40 an ounce maybe $38 an ounce. That what that's what we were looking at for years for years. Now the new normal is between $70 and $80. How are silver stackers and by the way they're not how how are they going to buy and really accumulate this metal at the pace that they were buying?

[00:02:30]And they're not. They're not. Silver stackers are sitting on the sidelines.

[00:02:34]But again, for for all you OG stackers, all you silverbacks that know how this works, you believe, as I do, that the way this endeavor works is you accumulate what you can. You you close your eyes, right? Ideally, you don't look at the spa price as much and you get as much metal as you can. And over the years, you have this great stack and you dollar cost average as much as you can. And over the years, you are seeing that your wealth is in a safe store of metal. That's that's what silver stacking is. Here's the problem. About uh what 2020 we had this maybe 2019, 2020, we had an issue with American Silver Eagles. Let me go back to my Eagles. I'm going to put this away.

[00:03:22]We had an issue with American Silver Eagles. And the issue was a supply chain issue. The uh premium on eagles at that time was about $14, $15 or a spot and it lasted a long time. I I don't have the numbers in front of me, but it felt like a full year at least where the premiums were very high. So again, at that time, silver was around 20 $25 an ounce and then you had a $15 premium on top.

[00:03:49]Brutal.

[00:03:51]today. And I'm going to show you in a minute. I the the silver that I that I went in on. I'm going to show you that today. Silver again, it's around $75 an ounce. But for some reason, the premiums on many uh eagles issues of American Silver Eagles, not all the dates, but many dates, they're almost $19 over spot. Did you hear that? Almost $19 over spot. And I urge you to to do your own due diligence. Go to go online, look at all any major bullion dealer and you'll see some dates, some dates you could get lower, but uh some of the dates that are more interesting because not all eagles look the same and I'm going to show you that in a second when I show you what I picked up. Not all eagles look the same.

[00:04:37]These are about what are these 2012s that I'm showing you. The design is different. Um this is more of a burnished look. But the newer Eagles and interestingly the the more expensive ones they have serious premiums for certain dates really really high premiums. So check that out because it this is sending us back to a time where there was a supply chain issue.

[00:05:01]Meanwhile the the all-time high of of silver right back in December and January. Sure we had a supply chain issue at that time.

[00:05:10]Sure. Of course everything was backed up. But that's supposed to be clearing up. It's really interesting. That is supposed to be clearing up. And today, right now, at the time of this recording, dealers, every dealer I talk to on the local level, they're struggling, and I'm putting it lightly, to get stackers in the door to buy metal because again, we many people just can't afford to get the amount of silver that they used to. So, it's really interesting, and I I want to make more videos about this. Why Why are these premiums so high at this point? So check this out.

[00:06:12]I can tell. I can tell by by the length of the tube. That is a full tube. Man, I've been waiting for this. It's a full tube of maples. And I actually I met quite a few people lately who have been choosing to stack maples. Like meaning they're 100% in. Look at that. A full tube is 25 for maples. When you're when you're picking up American Silver Eagles, a tube is 20. It's 25. So, I met quite a few people who have been like all in on maple leaves, and I've been stacking maples lately because I really I love how they look, especially when I make these videos. They just just look so cool on camera. Uh, but it really is a different feel compared to uh American Silver Eagles or or stacking silver rounds. It's they're they're really a different beast. Let's get into what else we have in here. Here. This will really There you go.

[00:07:33]There you go. Now, I I chose Look, that's a full tube right there. I chose You could You could pick these up by date. And I chose 2023 really because they look the same as 2025. They have that. You see it right there? They have that little notch that's like the security notch. Each each eagle has a little notch on there.

[00:07:54]They have the notch and it really looks very similar to the 2025, but really you can get them they're cheaper. You can get them for less expensive. The newer the newer model, it's just like buying a car. It's always more expensive. And look at this. Watch. Going to leave that stack right there.

[00:08:24]another tube of eagles, but these I chose 2012. And the reason I got one stack of 2012 and one stack of the 2023 is look, you could really see, look at right there. I'll get close in. You could really see the difference. This has that like burnished look, right? And this has really the more modern shine. I It's I'm kind of torn. I mean really, you know, it's it's just preference.

[00:08:53]Just personal preference over what you really like. This has like more of a for now it feels like an old school look.

[00:09:01]These old these older Eagles and these are actually looking more Let me get the Let me get that maple right in front of you so you can really see it.

[00:09:18]These are These are looking more like the maples, right? Without that. See what I mean? See how that maple pops? I really understand. I'm not alone. I've met quite a few people lately who are they're just going all in on maples. It it really uh it shines and it really it grabs your attention. It just does. Uh in order to get an eagle, an American eagle to grab your attention like that, like this, you really need to go for the the proof eagles. And those are just outrageous. They're so expensive.
