RV-14 Build: Grab a friend and rivet your canopy too! Section 38 part 28

[00:00:01]Okay, so we're at the point where we're going to put these side skins on and then click them all on and then rivet them on with lightly snugged hardware. Um, however, on this side, you notice there's this nice little hole here. In fact, I think it's there on the other side, too. But the reason it's there is this guy here. This is where the switch goes. So that way when this pin comes out, it activates the switch and uh tells your ephus that your canopy is open or closed. So we need to run a wire from here all the way down into there.

[00:00:54]And it's going to come out over here somewhere. I think it's going to come out like back under here. And then we're going to run it up and around to where all the other wires from the canopy are going to connect. So, I'm going to do that now because I really don't want to fish a wire through here with that skin on.

[00:01:30]He wanted to come by and help out with us. So, uh yeah, he's been here before.

[00:01:35]He helped uh join the fuselage to the tail cone um whenever that was. Uh yeah, so we did this uh sidekin riveting. Um and then I think he's Yeah, we're just loosely snugging the uh the hardware on right now. I'm getting the the uh seatpan area ready to get in there and sit down because I don't really want to be leaning against the canopy and um riveting the side skins on when it's like hanging off the uh the mounts up there. So, we're going to put someone inside, close it up, and and do the riveting that way.

[00:02:17]Uh let's see. Oh, yeah. He also came by cuz um we're after after we did this work session, we recorded another thing that we've been sort of a project we've been working on for a few years on and off.

[00:02:32]Um I should probably just actually produce that as the next video in the series because I mean it happened in chronological order, right? It's not building. Um it's airplane related. It's about IFR flying and trusting your instruments and whatnot. Um, yeah, I I will definitely have that out in the channel here relatively soon. I think I might maybe do it after the canopy series is done. Um, but I need a kick in the ass to get it moving anyway.

[00:03:17]You still see that they actually have cleos holding the um the top rail in place. I must not have put the uh the hardware in up there yet.

[00:03:32]Okay. Yeah. So, there's that wire I ran.

[00:03:35]We're going to finish up doing this riveting on the side here.

[00:03:40]And um I think that's going to Yeah, we could pull those cleos and uh do the other rivets. I really like doing twoerson riveting. It makes it a lot easier. You get a lot more precise um shop heads and whatnot. So yeah, that's uh apparently about it for this one, I think. Do we do anything else here?

[00:04:06]No. Okay. Yeah. So, uh, that's probably it here. Uh, come back next time. I think we're going to do the seals that go around the aft section. Yeah, that's why the hardware wasn't installed.
