The video offers a sharp, unsentimental deconstruction of a franchise film that prioritizes brand longevity over narrative necessity. It correctly identifies the project as a bloated television episode that fails to justify its existence beyond mere commercial filler.

The New Mandalorian and Grogu Movie.... ExistsAdded:
There is no point in me giving you a spoiler warning for this video because there is nothing of consequence or importance that I could spoil for you that you would actually care about.
Spoiler, the twins die. Who are the twins? Those dumb characters from the pointless Boba show. Spoiler, the Razor Crest is back. Yeah, it was in the trailer and it barely gets an explanation of significance. Spoiler, Embo is cool. Yeah, that's just obvious.
Spoiler, Mando does a 9/11. Yes, I'm not kidding. I went into this movie with low expectations and this movie disappointed me by being the worst possible thing it could have been.
Nothing important happens in this movie.
Nothing of consequence happens in this movie. There is no character growth. No lessons are learned and I gained nothing from seeing it. Now, I don't want to be wholly negative about this movie. There were some things I liked including the music.
Many have pointed out that this seems like it was supposed to be a season of The Mandalorian smooshed into a movie, but instead it feels like this was two or three episodes stretched out into two hours.
>> [music] >> And and there are things set up at the start like this deck full of Imperial warlords and they get hunted down. We'll take out every bad guy in your deck of cards. Like a whole deck of cards of these bad guys, >> [music] >> but only two of them are caught. So, are they going to make another one of these where they get the rest of them? Or is this just another thing building up to that Mando vs. end game movie? I really don't want to be salty about this movie.
Um oh and by the way, salt is a literal plot point in this movie. Um but anyway, I I I don't want to sound like you know the sequel haters who just complain about woke or whatever. That's not the problem with this movie. Like say what you will, but at least The Last Jedi had great visuals. I can't pick out any shot in this movie that actually made me appreciate the cinematography or really anything of the sort. And yeah, the CGI looked good I guess, but there was so much like 80% of the characters in this movie are CGI. And and like could they just not cast some skinny tall guy to play Embo? Why did he have to be CGI?
But Embo was cool. His fight with Mando was like the only fight that was actually somewhat interesting and had stakes cuz every other fight was just Mando vs. hordes of useless stormtroopers or droids or monsters. And yeah, I'm used to storm troopers being used as fodder at this point, but still, it means you aren't engaged in the fight because you know they'll all just fold like paper.
>> [music] >> Even the AT-ATs are just useless against our main characters plot armor. And the start of this movie is just so meh, like generic Imperial bad guy is generic and evil. Andor spoiled us with competent Imperials that our heroes need to outmaneuver and outwit, but Mando just shoots his way through and wins because he has the best gear. Yeah, look at me bringing up Andor again and how amazing it is. And I get this movie is not going for the same thing. But this all just felt so sanitized and safe and like it may as well just be in a nursery.
Like I get that this is kid oriented, but they clearly advertised it to people my age by putting characters like Embo and Zeb in it. And you can make something that's kid oriented that adults can enjoy as well. Like they're not mutually exclusive. Oh yeah, Zeb is here, you know, from from Star Wars Rebels. Yeah, he he has no personality or major impact on the plot. He's He's just kind of there. He fights some storm troopers.
It's all he really does. And every character is unfortunately very bland like this. The only character with a somewhat interesting character trait is, I kid you not, Rotta the Hutt, who doesn't want to be defined by his father, which is genuinely an interesting angle to take on the character. And it's like, okay, yeah, I can get behind this. That's cool. That's an interesting plot point. But it's genuinely astonishing that the live to stink another day slug is the most interesting character in this movie.
Since I'm thinking about it, you can draw a ton of parallels between this movie and the 2008 Clone Wars movie.
It's a movie that should have been a TV special where Dave Filoni picks a bunch of his favorite Star Wars characters and makes them go on an adventure to save Jabba's son. And along the way they fight some droids and the dialogue is cringe. It has a mixed critical reception, but kids seem to like it. And don't take this as me making fun of anyone who likes this movie. If you enjoyed it or found it fun, more power to you. I hope you enjoy it. Go and see it if you want to. Don't let me stop you. It's just for me, I was personally really disappointed in this movie and I makes me worried about the future of Star Wars. But I will say, you know, there were some kids sitting next to me in the theater and they got excited anytime Grogu did something and then they asked their dad like, "Oh, what does that mean?" And it was really that was really nice. That actually made me appreciate the movie a bit more. Even though I'm not having a great time, these kids are really enjoying it and that made me happy. So, that I really can't be upset about that. And it was funny cuz the kid right next to me kept looking over as I was writing, you know, notes on my phone like, "This movie sucks. This movie is terrible." And he kept looking over like expecting I had games on my phone or something. It was It was very funny. But if I had watched this movie in an empty theater, I genuinely would have fallen asleep during the second half. What else? Um holo chess? Yeah, holo chess. Like from Star Wars. Have you guys seen Star Wars before?
This is a thing from Star Wars in case you didn't catch that. But but the crazy thing is while I was watching this arena fight, the thought genuinely crossed my mind that the Geonosis arena was more entertaining than this. And I need you all to realize how absolutely bonkers it is for me to consider that Attack of the Clones may be better than this movie because I hate Attack of the Clones. The Rise of Skywalker, the last Star Wars movie released in theaters 7 years ago, is actually more enjoyable than this movie to me because at least that movie sucks and it's stupid and I can go, "Ha ha Somehow Palpatine returned." Or "I am all the Sith." And now I'm all the Jedi.
But but I can't do that with this movie.
There's nothing on the same like there's nothing on the same level of bad that I can laugh at. This is on the same level of nothingness as The Book of Boba Fett, which is conveniently where the twins made their first appearance. So, I guess they just took inspiration from that show. I mentioned it at the start of this video, but the saving grace of this movie is the score by Ludwig Göransson. Of course, you know, the iconic Mandalorian theme he wrote is here, but it's and it's still iconic, but he put so many fun twists on it throughout the movie. Like they just went in this one moon and then there was like the music was all these synthesizers and it was really cool sounding.
It's just a shame nothing on screen was on the same level as the music. The only other thing I liked was that the movie gave Grogu something to do other than just cute moments. [music] And it was nice how Mando said, "Oh, the old protect the young and the young protect the old." That was cool. That was nice. But still, I thought the sequence of healing Din went on way too long. Also, Sigourney Weaver was in this movie, apparently. Uh I can't tell you a single personality trait that she had, but she was there to move the plot along. Like like seriously, the press tour made me think she would be a major character in this, but she has like 8 minutes of screen time and barely does anything. You could have replaced her with any other character or actor, and that is a shame. Complete waste of a Hollywood legend. And on the same note, I had to take a double take when Martin Scorsese's name appeared during the credits. Only for him to just be some like CGI alien. It was like, "Really?
We're really using the budget on that?"
Oh, and the movie sets up this big reveal where this mob boss is actually the Imperial mando is looking for, but he literally appears as an Imperial guy in this scene from Mandalorian season 3.
So, if you just watch the show, this reveal is ruined. I could complain more about how The Book of Boba Fett and season 3 the show ruined all of Din's character growth, which has been talked about to death, but I mean like they just regressed his character back to season 1. But, to [music] the this movie goes even further with that. Like now, he has the Razor Crest back, and the explanation was just like, "Oh, yeah, we just found one in mint condition." How convenient. And also, he [music] gets his disintegration gun back, which I don't even remember him losing, but okay, he has that, so he's literally just back to square one where he was in season 1. By the end of this movie, I genuinely said, "That's it." They just go off in the space for their next adventure having learned nothing, not grown as characters at all, and having done nothing significant or notable.
This movie is so inconsequential that it pains me. The movie adds nothing new to Star Wars. It just takes existing characters and has them do their usual song and dance routine, which works fine for a TV show episode, but what's the point of having this as a movie? I'm not going to call this like fan slop or Filoni slop or slop of any kind, cuz like it's like Ahsoka, right? That had fan service. That had keys jangling. That had, "Oh, look, it's Anakin. Isn't this the character you like?" I mean like this has some of that, I guess, but like Zeb? Is anyone going to go like, "Oh my gosh, it's Zeb from Star Wars Rebels."
Is anyone really going to do that? I thought they would at least, you know, set up like Thrawn or, you know, somehow Moff Gideon return, something like that, but no. I have genuinely no idea where they plan to go next with these characters. They can make a dozen more bland, unimaginative adventures like this with this formula and that's what scares me. If this had been a TV special on Disney Plus, it would maybe have gone over a little better, but I had to buy tickets to go see this. If I could go back, I would tell my past self to not even bother pirating this. Solo didn't deserve to flop, but this movie does.
And I really don't want to say that, but hopefully Disney will realize that they can't just rely on taking safe bets.
They need to actually take risks and try new things with this franchise if it's going to survive. The best way I can sum this all up is that I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed. I will forget about this movie in a month and that is the real tragedy. Also, don't throw me in with the Critical Drinker, Star Wars Theory, or any of those grifters. I don't want to be associated with them just because I also happen to dislike this movie.
