New Tesla Model Y L Delivery Day Experience Sydney Australia May 2026Añadido:
Hey everyone, I'm Tom. This is Joy.
>> Hello.
>> And welcome to delivery day of our brand new Tesla Model Y L behind us in cosmic silver.
>> Fantastic. Let's go check it out.
>> Okay, so here she is. We haven't named it yet, but uh we will.
>> I said she >> Yeah, >> he she Okay, here it is. Here they are.
>> Um the Tesla Model Y L uh in I got to get this right. Cosmic silver.
>> I keep wanting to say crimson silver. I don't know why. It's definitely cosmic silver. It's not red.
>> There's no red in this at all.
>> It's I don't know whether the color comes out in this shot, but it's like a It's silver, but at the same time, there's a tinge of gold. I reckon it's a lighter silver.
>> There is a very Yeah, very subtle tinge of um >> gold for sure.
>> Look at that. That's sort of recess there. That's different, isn't it?
>> Yeah. And um why don't you show the tires just super quick? These are 2554519 of the front Continentals.
You can see there's a bit of a a covering here, some cladding just for I think for aerodynamics.
>> Y >> um and then we'll just pan at the back.
Flash door handles which are easy enough to open like every other Tesla now.
>> And then down the >> kitchen windows windows on the back.
Good. We are getting this car tinted and ceramic coated as well. Details in the future videos so stay tuned.
>> And then the back here you probably just see 275 4519. So, they are differential front and back.
>> So, yeah.
>> And then obviously this is a six-seater.
You can see, you probably can't tell just in isolation, but the Model Y L has a bigger booty. Okay. It's got like this extra hump. It's pretty much the same car from this point, the B-pillar onward to a standard Model Y. And then from the B-pillar back, it's a bigger car. We've done the differentials before in a different video, so check that out. You can see the other Model Y's in the showroom. And probably from that shot you can just you know have an idea of the difference. Um there is a bit of a spoiler and this is um influenced from the um Tesla Model Y performance.
You can see that and we'll show you the badging here.
This is another way you can tell obviously it's a Model Y Y just on the lights. Don't worry about that uh sort of condensation in there.
That will >> Yeah, >> that will disappear naturally by itself.
It's >> Yeah, just do with the moisture. It's been raining a lot. Obviously, you know, uh it'll it'll go as Joy said.
>> Don't be like, "Oh, you know what? I don't want this one. Get me a new one."
>> Yeah. Let's have a look at the boot cuz that's what this car is all about, the boot and the extra seats.
So, with the seats up.
>> Yep. And you might think, "Oh, this isn't much space." But look, we've already got all of our stuff in here.
Y and we are planning to do a road trip with this car. So stay tuned on the channel as well to give you an idea what it's like to sit with six passengers in this car road trip.
>> Yep.
>> And the beauty of this car is obviously you've got auto buttons to flick all the seats down. So let's do that now.
>> Powered seats, headrests go down and same with the front seats as well.
And I even saw the front passenger seat scooch forward a touch >> um so that there'd be enough for the second row cuz sometimes it just sort of stops, isn't it? It's like no, I can't do it. But this one's smart. It just was like, you know what? I'm just going to move forward a little bit.
>> And what's cool is that you can actually recline the seats as in bring the seats back with these as well.
>> So you pull that like up towards you rather than pressing it again.
>> Yeah. And people asking about um child restraint anchors. So you see all four seats in the second and third row have that child restraint anchor. And even this third row you can bring back as well. So you don't have to like do some gymnastics to get the seats back.
You just have to flick the headrest.
That's all.
>> Your shoulders will thank you.
>> Speaking of which, you can obviously set the tailgate height to whatever you want. But uh by doing this sort of set to the height level and then you just push that. You should hear a beep.
>> There it That beep shows it's that height. It's >> kind of like a chime, isn't it?
>> Yeah. Or you can just bring it back and do the same. Set it back to this height.
Back down she goes.
So, shall we pop into um the second row first?
Inspect our car. Our car, >> not a press car. Our car. We bought this car.
>> And during the drive, I'll go through how we bought it. insurance, all the delivery details. Um, yeah. So, this is called a Zen gray interior. Um, it's sorry, let me turn it down, which you can do from here. This >> here. Let me see. Might be this one.
>> Just stop that. Someone likes gold FM obviously.
>> Um, I wonder whether that's like preset for everybody >> possibly. So, you can control the air con from back here, you know, seat heating in the back.
can move the seat back and forth from here as well.
>> I wonder whether that still works if someone's actually sitting there because it'll be kind of annoying if someone from the second row.
>> Why don't you test that? So, let me sit here.
>> I'm sitting here now. Can you move me?
>> No. Smart.
>> Smart. Thank you, Tesla.
>> Can't irritate mom and dad from the back.
>> Yep. And Oh. Oh, that actually that might have been the door. Just >> All right. Try it again.
>> Okay. No. Yep. Perfect. Perfect.
>> Still cut.
>> Yeah, it's grayed out. And then as soon as you remove your bottom, well, not as soon as there's a bit of a delay. And then there it is.
>> Yeah, that's smart, isn't it?
>> That is very, very clever programming.
>> Yep. From the back there's a music.
There's I think you can actually watch this when you're driving. We'll test that. Obviously, someone's told me you can do that.
>> Play games and then extra settings there as well. Add a Bluetooth device. I assume you can add speakers.
>> Yeah.
>> Lovely.
>> It's good. Good. The kids will whoever sitting in the third second row will enjoy that.
>> I know it's heating.
>> I know it's a bit dark in here. Let me just grab my phone.
Interestingly, the second row, again, I think cuz there's no one there, can control the heating and cooling as well for the >> USBC ports. And there's a drink holder.
That's a nice solid drink holder.
>> Fancy, isn't it?
>> Yes.
>> Very nice. Again, we will update you on um on the longevity of a of a system like this cuz I always feel like, you know, depending >> on how rough >> the passengers are in the second row, >> you may or may not get good mileage out of something like that.
>> Sound speaker.
>> Yep. Sound system very good in this car.
Tested it before.
>> Map pockets spring back. this style that I love where it's got like that elastic here just so it's nice and neat >> cuz usually after a while this gets really kind of scummy.
>> I like the fact there are manual vents there actually.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. I'm a fan of manual vents.
>> Sometimes you want to fiddle with the screen too much.
>> One thing I will say there are no passenger handles.
>> Um cuz that that makes it you know like very sleek and minimalist.
>> Um but that's just an accessibility issue if that's a concern for you. Just wanted to mention that.
>> Of course, don't forget the Model Y L has these armrests which are powered.
There we go. This comes up nicely. And then same with your side. I'll just press your side. There you go. Just that extra comfort.
Very nice.
>> Captain's seats.
Okay.
>> Um and then I'll just show the >> third row. We won't climb in there today, but we have done that before.
>> No, I will. You hold this.
>> Okay. All right. I will hold the camera.
You can climb in there for us.
>> There is um Okay. So, one thing to note, there is the tiniest of a hump here.
Actually, it's not quite actually not that tiny. It's actually quite a lot.
>> Sorry. Let me just show that. Sorry.
This camera is There we go. There's the hump.
>> Yeah. So, look to give you an idea.
That's I would say a good maybe 10 cm >> in height. So, um yeah, don't sort of like face plant and trip over. But once you're here, where do you want me to go?
This side or this side?
>> Let's go that next side.
>> Right side.
Lovely. Hopefully.
>> Sorry, it is quite dark in here.
>> I I'm I think like 163 cm. I have no idea what that is in imperial measurements. Um but I reckon you could be probably up to 168 170 and then after that it's probably going to be uncomfortable for you back here. But certainly my height or anyone um shorter.
>> I mean I've sat in the back before. I'm 173 at least. And I'm not too bad for short trips.
>> Yeah. For short trips.
>> Yeah.
>> There is like this lovely armrest here as well. So, it's very very cozy.
>> It is cozy.
>> Yeah.
>> But not in a cramped way. Just >> Yeah.
>> Yep.
>> Again, we're doing that road trip, so we will we will give you some real feedback.
>> Yep. Yep. Wouldn't want to put, you know, 200 cm basketballers like back here, but um Yep. for for someone of average height or less, they would be fine.
>> Yep.
>> And just show us how you climb back up.
>> Yep.
>> And the USBC ports just under your leg there. Sorry. Just move your leg. Just show you that real quick. There we go.
Sorry, it is quite dark in here. So, hopefully you can see all that.
And then as Joy climbs out, >> going to pop this down. So, >> yes, we are happy with the second and third row from our inspection.
And another thing I like to look at when we take deliver new Tesla is just the the rims. Obviously, it's harder to prove if anything happens when you drive out. So, just shut that door.
>> And we should probably test the windows.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> Make sure that they work.
>> You would hope so.
>> Yeah. But, you know, when you're doing delivery, you want to press all the buttons.
>> That's true.
>> And then I'll check this room one more time. We checked the others already. the other side. That looks pretty good to me.
Um, let's have a look at the front row now.
>> Like this lumbar uh not lumbar support.
>> Calf support.
>> And that's that can be obviously adjusted like that.
>> Yeah, you can probably see it moving.
>> Can you see that moving?
>> Speaking of lumbar support, there is lumbar support, too.
>> Yes. Which I will press this one >> and then you can wind the window down too. There we go. So Joy wants to check that. So we'll check it for her. I'll just go on the driver's side.
>> Hello. I'm very excited.
>> Mhm.
>> And same sort of thing on the driver's side. Um calf support, lumber support.
Let's check all the windows.
>> Show that or you want to show that?
>> Uh sure. I might as well just double check all that. Yeah. Check all the windows from here.
Okay. And then this is quite standard with Tesla. This is now ventilated, by the way. This is it.
>> Yes. That's one of the features of it.
It's like a See, the the vents actually >> Oh, on the side.
>> Yeah. It's coming from the center bit.
>> Yes. It's now ventilated >> because I feel like this is where it needs to blow. But I guess it doesn't really matter, doesn't it?
>> As long as it's cooling the phone somehow, it's all good.
And then down here we've got the usual Tesla storage. Usual welcome pack from Tesla and more storage down here. USBC port there. All good. All good. That's all pretty good. And we'll go through the infotainment screen probably in another video. If you want to set up your Model Y, you can actually press that and then you can go through the start screen like that.
There you go. But the information is there in case you want to know how to run a Tesla. Tutorial mode. Could be your first Tesla, right?
>> Could be your first EV.
>> That's right. Makes it all very easy for you. So, good stuff, Tesla. Good.
All right. Well, is there anything else we want to check? Um, maybe all this.
It's a very wide Oh, look. This actually springs out now. Okay.
>> Extension. Yep.
magnetic. Nice wide mirror. Left all the plastic on just for now. We'll peel them off later.
>> Yes.
>> Indicator stalk is there. We should check the frunk as well, actually.
Okay. Gold FM wants to play. Okay, let's uh open the frunk. So, let's take a look. Okay, so let's check out the frunk.
Nice big storage.
And importantly, there is a drainage hole.
So, you could potentially fill this with ice and water and drain it later.
And then the windscreen wiper fluid, which is hopefully all you'll ever need to do for this car. And how does it shut? Let's see.
Beautiful. Easy.
Right. Well, I think that might be it for now for a quick inspection. Time to go for a drive, eh?
>> Okay, it's time to drive off. As you can see, brand new 13 kilometers on the odometer.
>> Okay, Joyy's going to do the honors.
>> Yep, there's a little tab there.
>> Oh.
>> Oh, that's satisfying.
>> Peeling the screen plastic. It's definitely ours now.
>> Yep.
>> All right, here we go. All >> righty. First drive away.
>> Yep. Choose direction.
Press to drive indicator here.
>> So many uh so many Teslas.
>> Primarily Model Y actually.
>> Mhm. Uh heading out that door.
>> Yep. Out the roller door.
And I'll just make sure that the light is back onto auto because we were playing with it. Yes, >> I think it does that automatically when you go into drive from >> So clever memory. That is what my Model Y used to do.
>> So clever.
Pretty much all Model Y. I can see one Model 3.
>> Yeah, >> it's phenomenal.
How many Model Y's are being sold >> here in Sydney at least?
>> Now I've completely lost my sense of direction. Is it?
>> Yeah. Let's go. Uh and that's why they've got to I feel that sign could be bigger >> could be bigger for new customers.
>> Yeah. I feel like look when you take delivery of a car it's all very very exciting. So you need to make things really like obvious um for people.
It's like at an airport right? You've got like tired tired people tired jetlagged people. So make it easy for people.
Of course, you can change the suspension via software, particularly to help the third row feel less bumpy, less bouncy, but clearly we've got no one today, so we shall leave it as is.
>> Mhm.
>> We'll do all these um all these configurating type options later. Mhm.
But >> today, we just want to give you a first taste as we drive out of Tesla.
I wonder whether anyone's ever gone over that. Actually, I think you can like they've they've made it so that you can >> Yeah. They flatten that bit.
>> Yes. Well, as in like they've got that sort of fluffy stuff there.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> All right. Where too?
>> Well, let's just go for a drive forever.
>> Where?
>> Wherever you want. Just for a few minutes. Just give >> give a good test of the car.
>> Yeah. Don't need to break in an EV anymore like the old days.
Allwheel drive in the wet. Should be pretty sweet.
And uh as we leave Tesla just for a drive, just want to thank them for looking after us this morning.
Yeah. So again, like I said earlier, we um paid for this car in cash. Just um just money out of our offset account.
So, you know, cash is not free. It's still an opportunity cost there there with an offset against our mortgage.
Obviously, you can also uh apply for a personal loan or go through Novea leasing. We're both self-employed, so we can't use Nova leasing or salary sacrifice, but there is some quite a bit of saving there with no leasing. We'll leave a link to um Miller X, who who we're collaborating with for Novea leasing options. So, check that out.
Video link link in the video description below. Uh insurance-wise, we went with N. No, we didn't. We went with um uh Zurich. Zurich. I was going to say NMA because we have previously used NMA in the past, but Zurich was actually the best option and that was the one recommended by Tesla in the Tesla app when we took delivery.
>> Um because they've got a good option with glass cover, windscreen glass cover. As you can see, >> this car has a lot of glass. Um, so we're paying about $1,600 a year paid annually in excess of $2,000. Those of you who know my philosophy with insurance is that um I think it's got to be worth your time. Insurance should be used for like big big claims. So I'd rather pay a smaller premium for the bigger excess. That's just my philosophy.
And then delivery itself. That's the one thing about Tesla they do very well and that is they keep you informed uh on the Tesla app. They've obviously, you know, refined it over the years. They keep you up to date with the delivery window.
They give you um steps and what you need to do with uh your delivery. You know, keep uh make sure you pay on time obviously. Um, make sure you got your insurance sorted, registration papers sorted so that when you take delivery like today, all we basically did was find the vehicle, match the number plate and the VIN to it, and then basically said, I have found on the app, I've just clicked I have found the car and then, you know, the rep who was very good to us, she um basically said, look, if there's any questions, let us know. She knew we were previous Tesla owners, so she sort of tailored her intro and handover accordingly.
>> And sort of said like here's what's sort of like new in the kind of like last >> um 6 to 12 months. Um which is Yeah.
>> Very courteous, >> very individualized, isn't it?
>> Yeah.
>> Um and she said to us, "Look, take as much time as you need." She knew we were going to film today, but you know, if you this is your first EV or Tesla, I don't think they were going to kick you out. Um it's still quite personalized.
you can ask a lot of questions >> and they've got staff floating around as well. So, um you know if something crops up at another time, you can actually flag anyone anyone over like it doesn't have to be the person who's been assigned to you. Like everyone's so helpful.
>> Yep. Yeah. We had a question actually.
We asked someone else >> during the walkthrough. So, >> yeah. Yep. There's none of that like oh like that's not me like you got to go find someone else. No, everyone was so happy to help.
>> Yeah. I think they've they've definitely refined mass delivery to a fine art Tesla. So hopefully hopefully your delivery experience is as good as ours in other centers around Australia.
Certainly was very good here in Tesla Sydney.
>> Yeah. How you finding it so far?
>> Welcome back to the Tesla family, they said.
>> Yes. Yes. There's there's a sense of familiarity, isn't there?
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> They they are very easy to drive, these Teslas.
>> They're very easy to drive.
>> Very easy. It's crazy. And again, you know, we're looking forward to doing a road trip with this car. And that that's part of the reason why we bought the Y L, the bigger Y, because we want to be able to transport um people around, whether it be my parents, Joyy's parents, friends, family if needed, just for quick trips, or even long road trips.
>> Yeah, I think I said it when we when we first tested this Y is that it's it's not meant to be a six-seater every day, but it's meant to be a six-seater if you need it like um you know, on the occasion that you need to use it, bam, you can convert it into a six-seater.
Yep. That's the usefulness of it. For sure.
>> For sure.
>> Um, yeah. So, I guess before we sign off once again, we'll be doing ceramic coating and window tinting as well. So, stay tuned for that video and update.
And I got a whole bunch of accessories on order as well. So, stay tuned for that. Walk you through which ones we're choosing for this car. Um, let's take a left, I think. Let's take a left before we wrap up. Otherwise, any final thoughts, Joy? Uh, oh, I think it's like, um, from memory, this is sort of learning how I drive. Um, and you'll be able to use the, uh, autopilot features once that blue circle is complete from memory. I I think that's what that is.
>> Yeah. And there's no set kilometers.
It's like, you know, it just sometimes it can take 100k, sometimes it can take 10ks.
>> Just needs to learn you.
>> Yeah. I've heard it's it's quite random.
>> Do I take a left or a right?
>> Let's take a left.
Uh, speaking of autopilot, yes, we will obviously be doing FSD videos as well.
Um, with the hope that FSD14 will be dropping soon. We'll see. We don't have a firm date for now.
Just testing out that acceleration.
Well, the thing about this car is that now you have to factor in people who are trying to beat a red light. So, I still, you know, you probably saw me like I'm looking. I'm not going because I know this will go fast, like really fast. So, I I now have to watch for, you know, people doing silly things at intersections.
>> Yep. It's a pretty quick car. All drive.
Um, all right. Well, uh, thanks for watching our delivery day video of the Tesla Model Y L in cosmic silver.
>> Cosmic silver.
>> Cosmic silver, not crimson silver. I don't know why I'm saying crimson. It's definitely not red. It's silver. But yeah, stay tuned for a lot more Tesla content uh coming up on the channel uh as we revisit the Tesla ecosystem. So, I'm join myself. It's happy charging and we'll see you next time.
Look, front bumper cameras now.
And I think the cameras have improved a lot actually since we last owned the 2022 model wide.
It makes life a lot easier to back in.
To be honest, this is not bad either.
this heat map >> would appreciate you not blocking when I'm in reverse >> for the gram, bro.
>> Well done.
>> We'll get used to >> I have to say I know I'm I'm trying to do this. I'm trying to do this.
>> Too many pressed.
>> No, we'll get used to it. Don't worry.
