They're a very interesting band because they're considered to be the leader of Indonesian local pop. Um, immensely famous. This album ended up doing over 26 million downloads uh in the RBT era, which is essentially Indonesia's ringtone era uh for your inbox or when people were calling you and you hadn't ringtone. Um you had to pay for it. This is [ __ ] ridiculous.

And it actually embodies it perfectly cuz like the influences of the dang or or traditional dangd doot for example cuz like the vocalist like we said it in the previous video when we got to discover Wally as like as a band.

[00:05:28]What called our attention was the very obvious predisposition to the vocalist inclining into that tang sort of like sound aesthetic which so it's so incredibly vocally difficult. So to have the the opportunity to bring that into pop, it's so freaking cool. I really think that any other place would struggle to bring folkloric music into a pop element in Indonesia.

[00:05:58]>> Um which is essentially local pop. Uh which makes a ton of sense for Wali and why they're so famous and people were really looking forward to us reviewing this and and I really didn't understand why. Uh but it makes more sense. [00:11:21]You needed a melody was like easy to pick out. I feel I don't feel I don't think we have a lot of songs right now that have that in the modern era because we have moved on from that like iconic melody making into 15-second making. So we have evolved. It's the same sort of like sound bite.

[00:11:40]>> I mean yes it did. We would do edits and things like that.

[00:11:43]>> It just stop being cool to have ringtones like ringtones just started off you know >> bring it back. I think that's cool.

[00:11:48]probably something's gonna like it's gonna be like I don't know your song that you play in your head or something with a chip in your brain with AI touching your nuts or something at the same time. Um there's the next song is called Kas Kasi Halal.

It wasn't a scandal or anything like that. He sort of left. Uh >> maybe because this was like the height of the group's activity. So, it's probably It happens to a lot of fans actually.

As a musician, this is one of the things that like create the most perfect stimulation mentally because you you can never really come up with this like natural eusions unless you are like actually involved or exposed to this type of sound.

[00:19:04]Like I think this this is why we love the channel. Yes.

[00:19:06]>> This is why I love doing this because we would have never been exposed to this style of rock ever.

[00:19:12]>> Yes. And the best part is that obviously because there is we're in the in the world of the internet. Th this comes to like people that have never heard Malayu pop before or like they have absolutely no idea of how incredibly intricate and fun it is to listen to like rock pop rock from Indonesia. And I actually think this is a this is such a cool experience overall. I think these are the the sort of like bands and uh sound music representation that it it really goes beyond just the music making because the product is so well done and the attention to detail is so specific that everything else that comes with it and like the the success that it had culturally actually is a complimentary aspect of the art making. And I will always say if the artist, the band are very they're very um what is it specific about making something good and they don't really care about the commercial success. The commercial success will happen as a byproduct. It'll happen regardless.
