Seals have a thick layer of blubber that makes them [music] really buoyant so they can float with almost no effort and they don't have to come up onto land. Staying upright keeps their nose above water while still allowing them to know what's going on around [music] them. They can also shift positions like this allowing them to regulate their body temperature cooling down or warming up if needed.
