Added:Honouliuli National Historic Site is opening its gates to the public in a new way this summer. For the first time, limited guided tours of the former World War II internment camp will begin June 18th, marking 80 years since the site closed in 1946.
The tours are part of a month-long commemoration that also includes documentary screenings, library exhibits, speaker events, and special performances across the state. Series will culminate in a September event at the Hawaii Theatre featuring musician Jake Shimabukuro and other local artists.
