Cleveland weather: Early rain then scattered showers on Wednesday and turning coolerAdded:
Well, um I think we call them bonus degrees, Jess, when we when we outperform the forecasted temperature for a day. And then maybe I wasn't paying attention yesterday, and if that's the case, I apologize. It certainly had nothing to do with the messenger, but I feel like we might have had earlier today some bonus degrees. I didn't expect it to be that nice.
>> We did have some bonus degrees. We also had a little sunshine this morning.
That's just such a nice combo for us.
We're running uh pretty much right on target for today, 60s. So, we're running a few degrees warmer than yesterday. Uh pretty mild out there for the Guardians this evening as they take on the uh Angels, 60° or so for the first pitch.
Just a very slim chance we see a stray shower later on, but I think they should have no problem getting that game in.
Rain is going to return quite a bit as we get into the overnight hours in particular. We'll have some heavy downpours, a few rumbles of thunder possible. We're going to stay very cool and damp as we go through this middle part of the week. From there though, we are going to be improving, especially as we get towards the weekend and into the first part of next week. It's going to be a noticeable difference with the temperatures that are going to be heading our way. So again, most of us running at least a couple degrees above where we were this time yesterday. We have still gotten that little bit of a lake breeze. So, mid-50s right now for Mentor and downtown Cleveland. Further south though, we've been able to hit those 60s through the afternoon, which is still below average for this time of year. Um but still not too bad. It can always be worse. Remember the rest of May. This isn't bad compared to what we've had so far this month to deal with. We did have some sunshine out there earlier this morning. Clouds have been on the increase pretty steadily through the uh late morning and afternoon. We are dry so far so far.
We've got rain off to our west though.
We're going to watch a little bit of the shower activity off to our north, but it's really all the stretching back towards the Chicago area that's going to be heading our way after midnight.
That's going to be our best chance for some rain. We still have some very cool air in in around the Great Lakes. The warm air is so close and yet so far as well.
Temperatures just in the 70s off to our southwest and more 80s out across the plains. It's still going to be a few days before we can tap into that warmer air. For this evening, National Weather Service hour-by-hour forecast, just a slim chance for a stray sprinkle or shower this evening. Better chances arrive after midnight with that main line. So, some heavier downpours, some rumbles of thunder could certainly be possible there. We'll see that move through with some gusty winds as well.
Some gusts over 30 mph will be possible.
A lot of this is focused on the overnight hours. By the time we get to about 6, 7, 8:00 tomorrow morning, a lot of that is going to be improving. Steady rain is going to be exiting. We'll still have some areas where we get some cloud cover to linger and maybe a couple of additional showers through the day.
Temperatures tomorrow are going to peak through the morning and early afternoon.
Many of us close to 60, a little warmer further south. And then we're actually going to be dropping for the second part of the day. We'll develop a good breeze from the northwest with some gusts over 30 mph at times. That's going to knock us back closer to 50° or so for many areas by the time we get into that evening commute. We do keep the clouds around and at least a chance for a couple of showers, some drizzle, some of those very gloomy conditions. That'll be with us through the evening hours and continue into at least Thursday morning as well. Temperatures start off in the 40s. Very gloomy and damp to start the day on Thursday. But as Thursday goes on, especially into the late afternoon, further west you are in particular, we'll get some nice clearing and a little bit of improvement at least in those skies through the second part of the day. Union Home Mortgage forecast, Friday is going to be another day of improvement. We're getting back into the 60s, a mix of sun and clouds there. The heat comes in for the weekend. We're back into the upper 70s and even some 80s for early next week. We do have the potential to have a few showers or thunderstorms each day, but those temperatures are going to feel very nice and some of the warmest air we've had in quite a while.
