My HVAC Wednesday running 5 calls #bluecollar #hvac #hvaccontractorAñadido:
Hello guys. Good morning. It is uh what day is it today? Today's Wednesday.
I had to make sure it was Wednesday.
Okay. 6:57 Wednesday.
Um today I have a couple stops lined up already. I have Let me see.
Sorry, I could look at my schedule, but I'm just trying to think off my head. I have the first call.
It's a duck a duck job. You know, sometimes you don't want to do those.
Uh I mean, honestly, as as service people, you kind of don't want to do duck work. I do I do installation. I just, you know, duck work sometimes ain't ain't enough. Ain't worth it sometimes. But, um this is for a builder. So, he does give me a couple houses a year. He doesn't build 10 houses a year. He'll probably build one or two. So, so, uh, yeah. And he gives me some service calls. So, whenever, you know, sometimes you got to take the the bad with the good, the ugly with the with the good. So, we're going to go ahead and run a 6-in duck for him. They just did an addition on the for a closet, so we're going to do that. Second stop is I'm going back to fix a leak at um condenser that I found that was leaking.
I can't remember guys. This was on a previous video. Third call is I got to replace a duck board supply plum duck board supply plenum with a metal supply plenum. So, um, yeah, and after that, I think I have one more service call, first visit. So, uh, so yeah, guys, it's it's kind of a weird day doing ducks, duck work, and then doing repairs. But yeah, let's see how it goes. Let's see what we get into.
Thank God for another one.
All right, guys. I already spotted the hole right here.
This um let me see.
Sorry. Um so this is where this is an addition right here. It's just a closet. No windows, no load in there. Everything is insulated. So, there is a drop ceiling that stops like right here. So, I'm just going to cut this very carefully. I think I'm going to have to over it so I can get a 6 in duct in here. Flexible duct. So, all right. I could still cut a little bit more down. Um, but that should be enough to fit in my six inch and then I gotta get it.
And on the other side, that's where the unit is. So, let's get started.
All right.
I did not cut this hole.
He already had left it here in the middle of the room.
So, let's see.
All right.
We're good on this one. Time to head on to call two. All right, guys. So, this one, um, they left the key. I was out here last week and I found a leak on a copper fitting at the outdoor unit.
But the good thing is these people have not moved in yet. So, nobody was without any AC. All right, guys.
So, this is where my leak is.
This thing don't even have armor flex, but this is a Goodman.
And we have a filter dryer. So, these folks had two filter dryers on here.
All right. So, I'm going to get my straighter out.
cuz I am going to put nitrogen. We're going to flow some nitro.
Huh?
>> See Heat. Heat.
I think we got Heat. Heat.
Heat. Heat.
All right. So, we're just going to get this one out of the way.
No heat.
All right, guys. She's holding. So, we going to get us a little bit more and then I'm going to put it on test tightness.
It looks like crap, but it works.
All right, we're about 10 minutes in. The temperature uh difference is 1.3. We're at 1.4. So, we should be okay.
Shouldn't have a leak on this one.
All right, after about adding five lbs, got this thing up and running. Got a 18° super heat, 12° sub cool.
So, let's check our tent split.
So, these guys didn't even have the piece on here.
Piece that comes with these Goodman coils.
Trash, bro.
We're done. Um headed to our third stop now, which is the plenum replacement.
So, kind of weird when you do something technical, then you do something duck work. So, yeah. Let's see how it goes, >> guys.
Uh, I don't know if y'all remember, but this is the plenum that has the top off.
So, we're just going to replace it with a metal plenum.
All right, guys. That plum is off.
Heat.
Heat.
Okay.
Put a screw right here real quick.
Yeah, guys. The only reason I'm building this plenum up here is because it's cool up here because the old plenum was letting all the air flow out.
guys. And this is a perfect example of if you want to be a business owner, you got to have install experience, not just service.
A lot of people, they don't want to do install. They don't want to go through that.
But you going to have to do some installations. is you going to have to build some plum. So my recommendation is to start install whether it's running duck work doing change up tornado.
Oh man.
All right, guys. It's kind of hard to do straight lines on this one. So, we're just going to mastic away.
The old mastic is already there. So, all right guys, forgive me. My mastic looks like crap. But like I said, there's already this here. So, didn't really focus on making straight lines, but we got our new metal plenum up. This thing is going to blow like a whistle, even though they got crappy duck work.
Check that out, guys. We're at our next call.
Hey, how you doing?
>> Hey, how's it going?
>> I spoke with your wife on the phone.
>> Yeah.
>> Yes, sir.
>> Just trying to keep the dog down.
>> Yeah. No, you're fine. Uh, so the system was leaking water.
>> Uh, it was Come on upstairs. So, we're going to have to be able to >> talk without her going crazy.
All right, let me um >> that automatically lost.
>> Now, as you can tell, the unit is going.
It wasn't going >> Yeah.
>> underneath had roughly like four and a half, five gallons of water down there.
>> Yeah.
And uh I vacuumed it out.
>> Okay.
>> And uh over the last couple days, that's all it did. And it's dripping. In fact, I just seen a drip.
>> Yeah.
>> It's underneath.
But uh looks like on the back side.
>> Okay.
>> This is This unit has been replaced.
>> Okay.
>> The AC portion of it.
>> Okay. All right, let me um >> So, you vacuumed it?
>> Yeah, I just took a little one gallon bag here and I tried to get that loose, but it seems like they glued it together.
>> Oh, wow. No.
>> Yeah, >> you ain't You weren't kidding. That's crazy.
>> So, uh you see that that was more than that, but you see the plywood >> on the outside of the pan there soaking wet. just went through the ceiling and everything.
>> Wow. But it was causing the system to turn off.
>> Yeah. I'm >> Huh.
>> 68°.
>> It's colder than that one.
All right. I tried to vacuum this line. I didn't get much outside. So, just grab some channel locks.
All right, guys. I'm trying to get a good look at this coil.
I was checking the level on it.
So, it doesn't have the best pitch, but I believe they fixed the issue. The line was just clogged. I do not see any um cabinet itself is not sweating.
So, it was probably the residual water.
But I hate when people do this. Check this out. This plenum is like 21 in, I guess, or it's bigger, maybe 18 in. They have this. All they did was put tape over this. So, this is sweating cuz they don't have a a good seal. Even though they sealed it with tape and mastic, they're supposed to put a piece of metal if they were going to use a different size.
So, I'm trying to just make sure I have no other leaks.
So, I'm wondering if that coil, that whole unit up there ain't leveled the best.
And um unit is draining though. And I put a screw here cuz this thing was making a lot of noise. But I believe the homeown not the homeowner, the tenant fixed the issue before we got here cuz he said he put a snake through there.
So, yep.
Filter.
Okay. Um, so let's see. So >> was doing the humming noise, but yeah, but it says it's cool. Oh, it's 73.
>> 73.
>> Supposed to be said at 73.
>> Okay.
>> Maybe we'll start this stupid humming noise.
>> That hing noise >> right here.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. So, what do you normally set it to?
>> Uh, it will hop uh depending on how my boyfriend feels.
really. But does it ever get to the temperature like how it did now? Cuz right now it's it got to 73.
So I'm wondering does it ever get to to the temperature?
>> Uh it hasn't the past few days.
>> Okay. But now it now it did. Okay. Let me see.
>> I I didn't even know it set at 73.
That's probably why it felt hotter.
>> Okay. Okay. All right. Let me um >> It was made It was louder. So that's what was weird.
>> Yeah, it's like a air issue kind of.
>> Yeah, you can hear that little buzzing noise.
>> Uh-huh.
>> Okay. Do you know if your unit is in the attic? I mean, it's in the basement, maybe.
>> Craw space.
>> Crawl space. Okay, cool. So, >> you have to go outside to the side.
>> Okay. So, say it's not running, but it reached 73.
So, at least 80 80° out here today.
It's not really much of a buzzing sound.
It's like that once that filter is in in place, it sounds kind of restricted.
Guess I'm going to have to see there's no filter down here. Like a double filter or something.
Of course. Beautiful.
Oh, no. There's water down here, bro. I am not getting under here.
Oh no, it stinks in there. I definitely ain't getting up under there. To be honest, this is the reason why it was making that noise.
Look how restricted this is.
All right, we're going to get some temperature split readings. When was I see that filter outside? When was that changed out? Recently.
>> You said when? I'm sorry.
>> Sometime within the past week.
>> Oh, okay. Okay. Yeah. Was it making that noise with that filter in there?
>> Uh, yes.
>> Yeah.
That's why I thought it was the filter.
>> Okay.
All right.
Besides my sub cool looking a little weird, this is a Goodman. Might have a piston inside.
So, we go based off our super heat.
Our pressures look normal. 123 318.
Really wondering if uh I'm getting a good temperature split. Wondering if there's a another filter in here.
All right, guys. It smells really bad in here.
Um, trying to see how far it is.
Nope.
As you can see, there's nothing in there. I don't know if I recorded good earlier.
Man, that smell was bad.
>> All right, guys. This was at 52.
Okay, guys. That was a a low crawl and it was it smelt filthy. So, I'm about to take my shirt off.
Um, wash up a little bit. I don't see nothing wrong with this system. Maybe there is, maybe there's not. At this point, I can't see anything wrong with it. Um, so, thank you guys for watching.
God bless.
