French Provincial Dresser Makeover | Ombre Decoupage & Luxury Furniture DIY Using Redesign Transfers

[00:00:00]Hello everyone. Welcome back to [music] our  YouTube channel. My name is Jo. I'm an owner and artist at Click Restore. [music] And today I  will be working on this dresser. It's a gorgeous French provincial dresser. You can see it's solid.  It's very heavy and very well [music] built.

[00:00:16]Uh but uh I wanted to really paint it and give it  a [music] French uh country kind of a look today.

[00:00:22]So we will be painting [music] this and uh  designing it. So come along with me. So, the [music] first step, removing the hardware  and setting it aside and cleaning this all up.

[00:00:34]I [music] plan to use this hardware. So, I'm  going to clean it up and save it for later.

[00:00:40]These are the [music] inside drawers. I'm going  to pull out each drawer uh because it's very dusty dusty from inside. So, I'm going to just  go and give [music] it a nice cleaning with my um vacuum shop rack and [music] uh  we will be ready to paint it.

[00:00:56]Heat. Heat.

[00:01:11][music] [music] So, the dresser [music] is sanded and  wiped down and it's ready to be painted.

[00:01:36]For [snorts] this [music] dresser, I'm using um um  milk paint from Fusion Manual Paint. And you can see it comes in the form of powder and you mix it  [music] in water to make a nice uh thick paste and then you apply it with a brush like any regular  paint. So [music] I am going to be painting this dresser in total of two coats of fusion paint  and [snorts] then we will begin to design.

[00:01:59][music] [music] [music] [music] [music] So this is my second coat. And [music] you can see  the coverage is amazing. We have done painting.

[00:02:45]It's ready to be distressed. So [music] once it's  completely dry, I am uh using a surf prep sander uh [music] in u 150 grit and sanding this whole  piece down for a very rustic [music] French country wipe on this piece. So we are done sanding  and this is the newest [music] transfer. It's uh gorgeous with bunch of roses that I am  going to be putting on the dresser today.

[00:03:12]So, I'm going to [music] measure it out. I want  the transfer to go in the center um of this each drawer on um both the sides. So, [music]  I am going to cut it into half um and apply the roses [music] in the center and just work my  way down uh to cover them in the pretty florals.

[00:03:32][music] [music] [music] So we are done with applying our transfer.  [music] And now we are going to paint the inside of the drawers. I decided to  do the same uh base [music] color. Um but um I don't know if I u like it in the cream  color. So what I'm going to do is do a blending in the uh pinks and peaches [music] just to um  you know uh blend it into the florals, the roses that we have. So, I blended the pinks and the  whites [music] after doing the base of beige, which I of course didn't like. And I like how  it looks and uh it's [music] dried in a sort of an ombre all the three drawers. Later on, I'll  [music] be putting the hardware. So, now here comes the decoupage. It's a new deccoage paper  from Redesign with Prima. It has beautiful roses on it. And I'm using my [music] steamer to  decrease it to remove all the folding lines and make it smooth before I apply it on the inside  of this door. So [music] I'm going to paint it in the base color um and uh uh decoupage over [music]  it. I'm using the deccoage shell in matte. And I'm going to [music] cover this  entire door in one coat of uh the gel.

[00:05:42]And then [music] carefully place this sticker wash  paper and use a shrink wrap or plastic wrap uh to press it [music] down so that there is no air  bubble or air pocket trapped in under [music] this decoupage paper. And once it's up, I am going  to trim the excess the [music] sides and u seal it back with the gel to [music] secure it and  uh make it durable. So [music] once we have done this um I am going to attach the [music] hardware.  Uh like I said I decided to use this but I think it needs some blanch. So I'm using this eternal  uh gold wax [music] and uh the redesign brush to highlight these um um hardware which are vintage  and beautiful but the gold just [music] gives it an extra touch. And you can see the coverage of  this gold wax is awesome. On the inside of the drawers, I drilled [music] new holes and attached  this vintage hardware and again painted them in the eternal gold box. So, you can [music] see  it just blends in so perfectly. The hardware, the folds, the chippy look, everything [music] has  come together on this gorgeous French provincial piece.
