My HVAC Friday 7 calls!! #bluecollar #hvac #hvaccontractorAdded:
Guys, good morning. It is Friday. Just want to show y'all the time. I mean, I kind of can't right now cuz of the GPS.
It's 8:48.
Man, again, I woke up a little late. I I love being early, so I love being early, but I woke up a little late. And um I didn't wake up tremendously late where I could have I could have came out here.
I'm I have I have a couple calls today, so I could have been out here in the field, but I also had to make some payments on my computer. I had to get on the laptop real quick. So, uh, yeah, guys, I like to start my days early.
Like, if I can, I'll be at the customer's home even 7:45. But if I can, I like being at the customer's home exactly at 8. Boom. Knock that call out, go to the next call, boom, boom, boom.
You know, keep it going. So, uh, but I'm running a little late today. So, uh, anyways, thank God for another beautiful day. It is Friday. Thank God for a Friday. Um, let's head on. See what we find.
How you doing?
>> So, the system ain't working.
>> It's not cooling.
>> No, I got it to work, but I I don't like I don't know what the hell wrong with it. So, like I think it's like it's water in the bottom of the damn of the of the little pan. So, I drained all that [ย __ย ] out. Then it came back on, but the water still like dripping >> dripping. Okay. Okay. Yeah, if you don't mind.
>> I know. I know. I know a little bit. But a little bit see why is this getting stuck?
Coil is is in good condition.
All right, cuz I think we just have a drain issue. So, I'm going to flush this out. Flush this out.
All right, let's flush it in the other way.
Dang.
I could just change this P trap, guys, but it's probably already if I can flush it out. I'm going to flush it out.
It's coming up pretty clear.
Gooey.
Heat. Heat.
All right, that was a simple one.
Temperature split was good. Everything was good. Clogged drain. On to the next one.
>> All right.
>> Okay. Sorry about that.
>> No, no, you're fine. So that the air conditioner is not working.
>> It is. I got it working, but >> Okay.
>> Come on.
Um the it has So 2 days ago >> Okay.
>> It filled completely up with water.
>> Okay, mom.
>> Okay. Okay, >> come here.
>> This would not come on.
>> The pump wouldn't >> The pump thing would not come on. So, what I did is I pulled this out so that the air would kick on.
>> Okay.
>> And I literally sat here with a cup and scooped all the water out.
>> Okay.
>> So that the air would run. It was so hot in here.
>> Nice. Nice. That's good. I mean, you got to do what you got to do. Did you try pumping water in here by any chance?
>> No. I didn't know. I was scared.
>> Okay. We may have another potential drain issue or a condensate pump issue.
And also she said that pre they just moved in. So the previous um person that was here that they didn't install the filters correctly. So um that whenever she went to go install hers she found like four filters inside the return pen. So I'm betting that that coil is really clogged.
Okay. So, the pump is working.
Definitely got some gunk out of that.
So, I'm going to make sure this P trap is clear after what I did right now.
So, Okay.
So, it's going in the pump.
You want to take this off and look at this coil because I'm betting it's really clogged.
It sure is. Look at that.
All right, guys. So, this one is really easy to clean cuz it's a slant coil. But honestly, I'm just going to go ahead and just clean it. Um, and charge them for it.
But I hope they uh they do pay me cuz it's not in the the not to exceed limit is 300, guys. So, I'm already passing that by clearing the drain and my service fee. So, um, but since it's so easy to clean and to get to, I'm just going to go ahead clean it. And, uh, let's hope I get paid for it.
Look at this.
What was this?
>> Perfect. Close the door. Close the door.
>> I'll pour some water through this pan.
>> Good job.
Good job. It's closed. All right. Go to mommy. Come on.
You're okay. Go.
How old is she?
>> She's two.
>> Oh, okay.
>> She ready to be be up and about.
>> Mhm.
She walked real slow behind him and then she got fast and she took off.
So, another clogged drain. So, I'm just going to let it run. Check the temperature split. But this was the issue. So, we're good.
>> All right, folks. So, two drain issues, another drain issue. We're good. Let's head on to the next one.
>> I'm hot. I'm dying. We've been dying for like 2 days.
>> Really?
>> Yeah.
>> So, do you want to go up here to check up this or you want to go into the back or which one?
>> All right, guys. I do not think my compressor is running.
God loose.
How loose that is.
It's not good.
So, let's check why the compressor is running. I mean, why it's not running and these cages.
this cage.
I think I'm gonna have to cut it out because my um the coil is really dirty. And um yeah, guys, we might have to cut it out.
Okay.
Zero. See from common to fan.
So the fan side is good. On the herm side I have zero. But um I didn't even check if we had power or not. I was just assuming we didn't. Um check it out. Check out this coil.
All right, we have a pretty decent not to exceed limit. So, I'm going to go ahead cut this, get it out the way. But first, I'm going to change that cap, make sure everything works.
A little piece of advice that you guys have given me is to check the cap, even if it's new.
So, we got 44 five.
So, thank you guys for keeping me sharp.
I couldn't do it without you guys.
You guys mean the world to me.
Okay. So fan coming.
All right, let's make sure this bad boy comes on.
And if it does, we'll move on to cleaning this coil.
Yes, sir. I can hear that compressor.
So far, pretty smooth day.
I shouldn't even have said that. I bet something crazy going to happen. Next cause.
Okay guys, suction line is cooled.
Liquid line is warm.
Let's see what our pressures look like.
Okay, so I got 146. That's to be expected because it's really hot inside.
And I got 359.
So, I know this looks normal, but the sun is not out yet. It's not completely out. So, on a hotter day, I bet this line gets super hot cuz the the the condenser is so caked up. So, everything looks good, folks, as far as pressures.
Let's just check our subcool and super heat.
this temperature clamp. Copper's probably dirty.
So, I have a 13ยฐ sub cool.
Let's go ahead get this coil clean.
But I'm going to have to take this off.
Looks like a dog has been peeing there.
Check it out right there.
Go ahead and just Heat. Heat.
All right, guys. This is a wrap.
Go ahead. Swap this out.
All right, guys. Pretty simple one.
Let's head on to the next one.
>> It's not cutting on at all. It's a bunch of a puddle of water at the bottom of the unit.
>> Okay, that's why. Okay. Um, >> I don't know if the safe kick on it.
>> Okay.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay.
Okay. He wasn't he wasn't exaggerating.
Look at all this water.
A horizontal drain panel. Well, them stairs got me tired. I'm I'm out of shape, folks.
Okay. I can't tell. It looks like it is clogged.
I don't know. That needs to be replaced.
All right. So, I'm about to go get my um I'm going to take a picture of this coil and then I'm going to go get my transfer pump.
I know what I should have brought also was um my long brush.
See if I can get it out. Looks like that thing is clogged in there. Take a picture. See if I can see if I can get it out with this.
Okay. Well, I can't reach in there, but let's hope that the pressure of this water clears that out.
Okay, that water is going somewhere. So, it's pretty safe to say that it cleared it out.
Okay, guys. So, suction line is getting cold, so I think we're good. Um, I'm still going to go check pressures, but I just finished uh removing the water from the pan. So, I'm going to make sure uh I'm going to make sure that it drained out outside, which I'm almost 100% sure it did. But, let's go look at that.
Okay, look at all this beautiful water.
If you ain't got this tool on your truck, you better invest in this tool. I just got it last year and that's the best investment I ever made to this day.
I don't want to hear nothing about no recovery tank, no vacuum pump. This is what you need, bro. This is what you need. All right, guys. So, a quick check on the uh on the pressures. I'm not going to check subcool superheat on this one. I am going to take the check the temperature split inside. Really, I'm just looking at my suction pressure.
Make sure it's not below freezing or anything that looks not normal. But, um, yeah, everything looks pretty normal right now. This is a zone system. Both zones are open. They're both calling.
So, uh, let's go get our temperature split. And it's safe to say it was another drain issue. So, looks like it's another drain day.
All right, we are going to swap this filter out.
with the new 20 by 20.
I don't know why the light died so fast on this. All right, we're at 53 out the supply 77 at the return.
All right, guys. Simple call. Um, I don't mind it at all cuz I kind I almost hit that car. That's crazy. Um, dang. I don't know why. I guess my my boot was too heavy. I stepped on the pedal a little hard. Um yeah, so simple call. I had a pretty pretty okay week.
Uh so, you know, I don't mind the day going smooth, but we still got more calls. So, uh let's see what how how it goes. Going to get me a quick little bite to eat here at Chick-fil-A.
I'mma get the uh the number five, the grilled chicken sandwich.
All right, guys. I got a 25 minute drive. So, I'm going to eat on the road.
Sometimes you got to do that.
And when I say on the road, I mean like as far as driving and eating. Um, usually sometimes I just uh take a little chill wherever I'm at. Even if I eat in the van, but I don't drive. But, you know, today I got a couple more stops. I actually got a call from a customer that I put refrigerant in her system last year and she kind of wants that again this year. Um, so that's probably going to be my last stop cuz it's near me near my house. But yeah, sometimes people just want gas and go, you know, they don't want to pay to for a leak search or, you know, they don't care for it. So, uh, so yeah, anyways, I'm I'm busy today, so that's why I'm eating and driving.
>> Oh. Oh, it's in here. Okay. So, it's not working.
>> So, now this is the [ย __ย ] that has been in here since we moved in here, >> right?
>> Um, when we first moved in, we can cut the AC on like 69, 70ยฐ, put it on cool, and I mean, it get auto cut in this [ย __ย ] >> Yeah.
>> Um, within the last 2 3 weeks, we tried to put the AC on just to, you know, even on auto just to keep it somewhat, you know, cool off. And man, it's been like a sign on this thing. Like if you if you just want to step right here, bro.
>> Yeah.
>> Just if you want to step right.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> Yeah. It It's hard as [ย __ย ] to me.
>> It It felt a little weird. Yeah.
>> And so at first, like if you go up to the And that's the wrong size filter when you look, like I said, it got a vent from a quarter way down.
>> Yeah.
>> Now, on the on the maintenance request, I put like some day in April that it was changed.
>> Yeah. But you know, like if you go to any of the air vents like inside the house, you hear it blowing and this and it's spinning inside there. But okay.
>> All right. that when we first moved in, we sit there and turn on auto and it was enough to keep it cool.
>> Yeah.
>> Um, you know, and >> All right. So, we going to see um what's running and what's not running.
>> I know the fan is running, but I do not think the compressor is running.
How long it How long it been out?
Uh with it being hot inside.
>> Yeah.
>> Like like two two and a half weeks.
>> Oh, really?
>> Like it like we haven't now we haven't had the AC on.
>> Yeah.
>> Even on the auto or like full on uh the whole two 2 and 1/2 weeks um to really notice like uh like you know Yeah. It's hot outside, you know. But >> you know, I would say probably about the last couple days, maybe up to a week even when it's been like real hot inside. Oh, >> okay.
This is y'all's first summer here.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. We've been in this house uh since November. So 6 months, 7 months, something like that. Okay, maybe a simple fix. I think >> for me from here it takes me 20 25 to get to uh Thornton Road and it takes me 30 35 to get to Union City. So dang >> I'm going to be getting paid hourly with you know getting put in classes to up against my game and stuff like that. The only thing I'm not com I don't one that I don't know how to do is replacing engine and transmission and then I'm not real strong suited on the electrical aspect. But I can do brakes. I can do some certain suspension work, you know.
Yeah.
>> But he's putting me on hourly, but he started me off at $20 an hour. His highest guy there that's on hourly pay is only at $17 an hour.
>> Oh wow. Okay. Yeah. He probably sees you got experience. I've been doing this I've been doing mechanic work professionally 9 years, man.
>> That's what's up, man. Yeah, you got >> I worked at Pet Boys for 5 years. I worked at Grease Monkey for 2 and 1/2 years.
>> Okay. Well, that's good. That's good.
>> Mechanic, electrician, HVAC, plumber.
They all >> Yeah.
All right. There we go. So, it is running now. Uh >> I I I I can feel it.
>> Yeah. Man, you Yeah, I can feel the heat coming out the top immediately. It's you your house your house must be real hot upstairs. Look, I'm sitting there with you 25 minutes home and it uh we ended up getting approved.
>> Okay.
>> And so I thought it was for the house that we had put the application in, but somebody >> All right, guys. I think God just wanted to bless me with an easy day now. But uh I I still got more stops I got to go to.
But another capacitor call. So I had a couple drain calls and a couple cap calls. So all right. So now headed to a call that I was at yesterday that the system was completely frozen. Uh it was not a heat pump system. Is a straight gas. Uh so straight AC. So let's see what we can find.
Okay. I just turned it on. I just put the uh disconnect back in. So, I'm pretty sure this is going to be a low charge issue. My suction line is not cold at all. So, uh let's get our sub cool 62 suction pressure, 77 super heat, zero subcool. So, we have a system with very low charge.
I have to see if I can find a leak on this.
All right, got the coil door off. Look at that. It looks a little oily right there.
So, hopefully we can detect something with our detector.
All right, I'm not getting nothing here at the moment, but I am getting it somewhere else.
I'm getting it right here.
All right.
Now, I agree. I was just I was just calling you to see if uh you wanted to, but I don't even feel like even dealing with them. Honestly, I don't even think I've sent them my my uh updated insurance. Yeah, they've been asking for it.
Sorry guys, I was on the phone. But right now, this is the only place I'm getting a leak out of. And honestly, that can actually be fixed.
But I don't I don't know if they want to do that with I mean, I don't know if it's a good idea to even propose that.
Trying to see.
Can't tell if this is from 2010.
It is 410A.
So, I'll have to uh this call actually isn't mine directly. It's for a guy that I sub for. So, I'll have to let him know that. But, uh I don't know why it looked oily over here, but I cannot find the the leak on this side, but I I could have swore it looked oily. So, um So, he told me to just top it off for now temporarily. So, this is probably going to be a expensive temporarily repair.
temporary repair. All right, so we're at a pound.
So, let's go ahead add some to it. All right, we're at 127 on the suction, 35 on the suction on the I'm sorry, on the super heat, 7ยฐ on the sub cool. That's after adding 3 lb and a half. So, we're going to let this thing wait a little bit more. I'm going to let it stabilize a little bit more. Then, we going to see if it needs more, even though it's leaking out. All right, guys. zapped up about 3 lb and 12 oz.
We got a super heat of 15. This system does have a piston inside.
So, uh yeah, let's um let's let's go with that temporary fix. Hopefully, it'll last them uh I don't know, at least a week. I don't know. Y'all tell me what y'all y'all would have done, what y'all bosses would have told y'all to do.
All right, I'm going to my next car now. It just started raining though, so I wouldn't mind the easy one.
It feels really cool up here. Like if something is leaking.
Wow.
Literally as soon as I open that staircase, I felt the cold air.
Dang.
Let me go get a ladder real quick.
Always running into bull crap.
Yeah. No wonder it's not working.
Take a picture of this.
It's crazy.
Oh, that is crazy.
It's crazy, guys.
So they put a duck board plum. This is a zone system. So these zone dampers here, they're pretty heavy. So they tried to strap it to the roof to the rafters to try to relieve some weight off of it.
But don't seem like it worked.
The stuff I run into, folks. Seriously, look at that duck board. It's disgusting.
Yeah, we just going to come back.
>> All right, folks. I'm always running into some crazy stuff. That plenum, I wasn't even going to bother try to retap or nothing like that. So, um I'm headed to one more stop. I'm not going to record it, though. It's just a g a gas and gold. So, I'm just going to refill it, recharge it with 14A refrigerant, and um that's it, guys. So, thank you guys for watching. Hope everybody has a good Friday. Uh thank you so much. God bless.
