GLP-1 medications like tirzepatide (Mounjaro) can cause unexpected food cravings and hunger even at maximum doses, particularly when combined with stress and cortisol fluctuations; this occurs because the medication's food suppression effects may diminish under stress, and individuals with chronic inflammation or conditions like primary aldosteronism may experience additional water retention and inflammation that can trigger cravings for carbohydrates as a stress response.

GLP-1 Journey: Why Am I SO HUNGRY on a Weight Loss Drug?!Added:
Um, this is going to be a real quick one because obviously it's coming up to 7:30 a.m. Um, in the UK, Nottingham in the house and of course I'm still in bed.
Um, which means I've got to get up because I have a job. Yes, this is my second week in um my job. Um, I'm absolutely loving it. Um, yes, I'm absolutely loving it. Um, you know, one of the things that I love about a new job is obviously meeting the new people and the new people that I've got. Olivia, hi Olivia. Oh, it's been so long. Olivia, I've got a job. I've got a job. I'm working.
So, I can't be on long. Um, I can't be on long because I've got to get up and get ready. But yeah, you know what? I'm like, Olivia, I love meeting new people.
So, this new job is just the it's just the best thing ever. Shnie D Shnie, how you doing? Happy happy is it happy international nurses day.
Thank you so much for your service. So thank you so much. So yes, Shnie Olivia, I'm explaining that this is week two um oh sorry the end of week two in my new job. Um and this is Gaston. This is this is Gaston my gorilla. Um, I've had this gorilla.
Um, I bought him from in France. Who?
Me? Yes, me. Le me. Say we. I don't know. My French is not very good. Um, even though I have a French name, my French is not very good. Hey, Jilline. My gorgeous friend Jilline.
Hello. Hello. Hello. She says, "Congratulations on the job." Do says, "What time is it there? It's 11:30 p.m.
here." Well, you know what? in the Nottingham UK. It's 7:30 a.m. and I've only got 30 minutes because I have to be up and get ready for um 8:00.
But I just wanted to talk to you all because as you say, I've not had a chance to do a live for so um for so long. Um I've not had a chance to sing and dance for I can't dance. I'm still in bed.
I can sing. I can sing. Good morning.
Good morning. No, I'm just just on very quickly um just to give you an update about my new job and how life is treating me um and asking how life is treating you folks. So, I hope you're all well. I hope you're all up for the weekend. Um I hope the weekend's going to be something wonderful. It's my mom's birthday this week. Well, her birthday is actually on the 13th of May, but she turns 70 on the 30th of 13th of May. Um, and this is a really special year because I turned 50. My sister turns 50.
Remember, we're not um twins. We're stepsisters, but raised since the age of two. Um, my mom's fella turns 60. Yes, she's a My mom's a cougar. Cougar and proud. That's how we do it in our family.
And of course, my mom turned 70 um this week. So, we're celebrating. So, um I might be able to show some footage of um where we're going for food. Um we go to a place called Panda Umi in Nottingham and the food is incredible. Um you know, I'm a carnivore. This place has got food for everyone. So whether you want to have a carvvery like a a good oldfashioned UK carvery of um roast meat and four full veg whatever it is whether you want to have um European um Italian um whether you want Indian Thai barbecue they're barbecue wings. Oh my goodness.
Right. If I get a chance right I'm going to show you the barbecue wings.
They taste incredible. I'm not sure if they're barbecue, American style barbecue or they're um Asian style. They don't have they don't have fiery um pepper. But my goodness, it's amazing.
So, everyone say hello to everybody.
It's 1:30 where Jolene is. Oh my goodness, you're up crazy late then, Jolene.
Thank you for Oh, she's giving me a glass of red. Thank you, Jerene. H Everyone's saying hi to everyone. I love it. This and this is what I mean. This is what I'm loving about working. I'm loving the fact that like you guys and you're my community. I've got a community of um colleagues now and I'm meeting them all and it's great. Um and then as you say, then a weekend truly matters because you've worked all week and it it was hard. It's hard and it is hard work. Even me doing like the induction because I'm having to learn stuff, I'm finding it I was saying to Dee the other day um that my energy levels are all over the place and I'm going to bed at silly o'clock. Um and when I say silly o'clock, I mean like um 7:30 p.m. um because my energy levels are low. But that's to be expected. Not only because of my health issues, but because I'm learning. And learning uses that uses that mental um effort. And that zaps your energy, doesn't it?
So, I'm glad you're all here to say hello to me. Um what was I going to give you an update on? Okay. So, my GLP1, hold on. Let me say GLP1.
GLP1 update, folks.
So remember, I originally started my GLP1 journey along with Colin the sleep um CPAT machine. Can we see Colin there?
Can we see Colin there? Oh, let me show you Colin. There he is. Look, can you see him? Colin is still um a significant part of my life. A lumpy geston.
Um so yes, so I started that journey on April the 4th, 2025 at £351.
um which was 160 kilos. I'm now down to 109 kilos. Okay. So, I've got to get up at some point. Um I've got to get up and do a weighin uh this morning um and do my proper weighin um to see if I've lost any more um than the 109 that I was. Well, I was last week, last Friday. 109.
But then remember I had some gluten-free cake and then someone bought me a box sent me a box of Toblerones.
So I had a Tobberon as well. And the next morning I woke up. This was Sunday morning last week. And I woke up and I literally put on 3 kilos which is 6 and a half pounds just by having a little bit of gluten-free cake and a tber rain. This is how my body um just works crazy with um water retention whenever I get any sort of inflammation. And inflammation very much happens when I have foods that are um high of FODMAPs. So they're mainly the complex carbs. So even though it was glutenfree, it was still a it was still a flour. It was still a grain. And so it did it impacted my stomach something terrible.
So, I'm hoping I'm back to 109 kilos or less. That'll be great. Um, let me tell you a little bit. Oh, Miss Mary's downstairs. Jilline, let me see if she comes up. Miss Mary.
Miss Mary.
Jelene is asking for you, Miss Mary.
Shnie and Olivia want to see if you're there.
She's downstairs. She's not been up to She's not slept with me all week. So, she's normally she sleeps with me. You know what she's like.
But she's been sleeping downstairs all week. Tillian, what you saying? I will be 72 years young on May the 25th and you're down 93 on Mandaro. What?
Yahoo. Let's celebrate. Oh, that is brilliant, Jillian. That is brilliant.
Right. What are you doing for your birthday? Are you doing something wonderful? I hope you're doing something wonderful. I hope that son of yours is doing something wonderful for you.
93 is incredible. Yeah. So, I'm on Mangaro and I was on I I say I was on I am on 15 mg. Um but I was splitting it and I was splitting it because I was always worried about the um side effects because I suffer with inflamm chronic inflammation. So I was like I don't want to be having any digestive issues and things like that. But you know, the last couple of weeks, I don't know if any of you have got to 15 mg and finding that the suppression, the food suppression is going. Um, and now even now as I'm saying it, I'm not entirely sure if it is um the Mangaro or the Tazepide cuz I'm on Mangaro. That's also known as Zeppban in the US, but it's toppide if you're on compounds as well. Um, and I don't know if that's something that happens with um the tepatide once you get to the highest dose. So, what I've now been doing is I've now been taking 15 mg in one go rather than splitting it into two 7.5s.
So, that's what Jilline's on once a week. I used to be on it twice a week, but I was finding that I was getting um I was getting like munchies and I still do if I'm honest. And you know that I eat normally one meal a day, but I'm finding that it's harder to maintain my energy levels now I'm working when I'm eating one meal a day.
So, I was going to ask you guys um if you've noticed anything different. What I've started to do now is I have like a meal early. So, if I'm if I've got to be up um I'm supposed to be at work at 8:00, but I'm going to work a little bit later today. Um, so I'm going to do 9 till um 6 rather than an 8 till 5.
But yeah, so what I was thinking was normally if I'm starting work at 8, I probably have something to eat about 10 10:30 11 sort of time. Um, and then I will have something to eat um afternoon after I finish work.
still carb um still um carnival, still pro very much protein rich and with whole foods. But I am finding that I'm like, "Oh, Ben & Jerry's would be nice."
Ben and Jerry's Ben and Jerry's is full of lactose. So why am I why am I um craving lactose when I'm a carnivore?
This is what I mean. This is what I'm finding now is happening with my um toeptide. I don't know if it is um food suppression, but I remember when I did start the medication. There was no way there was no way I would have been thinking about any kind of complex carb.
And so to make um last week to make gluten-free cake that it just seems unreal. That doesn't seem like anything that was in my mindset this time last year. Jolene's telling us she has a twin sister and we're going to party. Oh my goodness, Jilline.
Twins. Oh, that is wonderful. You see, I think me and my sister are so wonderful because we've got this we're the same age. So, we went through life together.
We went through um and did school together.
Um and we did um like we've got the same friends cuz we went through school and we went to clubs and we went to parties and raves and we did all of that um together at the same age. See to have a twin. Oh my goodness. And yes, Jelene is saying home is difficult. I did it, but it drained me. It was hard to exercise.
So, this is the thing. I've been I was doing OMAD for since 2022 and my health was getting worse. My energy levels were getting worse. But my rheatologist said, "Do OMAD because it will help with the insulin resistance. It'll help remove that."
especially cuz I was still um at that point I was still very much um eating just meat and veg or fish and veg um and the veg was just green veg and yet for some reason I was putting all this weight on and my I was becoming pre-diabetic like say what now you know there was not there was not a complex carb never mind a bit of sugar that was entering my my body back then but my energy levels were getting lower and lower and hour. Maybe that was to do with the OMAD now. Although I was eating my, you know, my daily calorie allowance. Although Jonathan says calories to calories, he's not got any time for calories. He talks about eating your macros and let's get your protein requirements in first. The calories will do their thing then. Um, so anyway, now I'm finding that even on the 15 mg full dose, I suddenly have a craving. Are we going to call it a craving? Feeling for the munchies. Um, and that's why I think that's why people had sent me Toberin last time because I mentioned that although I didn't get any chocolate for over Easter, I ended up treating myself and having um, you know, one of those 360 gram um, bars of of Toberine. I mean, I'm a I'm a carnivore, folks. I'm a I'm a carnivore.
What am I eating? 360 gram of chocolate.
Um, oh, although tarantin is absolutely delicious. Um, but we're moving on from that because I'm trying to I'm trying to get back onto the idea of I need to I need to do something that is still going to um help me with my inflammation, the chronic inflammation, but keep me away from those complex carbs. And this takes me then onto a conversation that I saw with Paul Amadeus Lane and Bound and Mate. So that was on Paul Amodus Lane's channel and he has this um wonderful show called These GLP1 Streets and it's usually on a Monday but he he tailor the time around his guests needs. So this time he had Bound on. Bound looked incredible.
B. I remember started watching Bound.
It was probably probably a little bit late, maybe about June, July of last year when he was just starting on his Zetbound journey.
And you know, he was he reminded me of me because he was suffering with chronic inflammation. Um he was suffering with all the the issues that chronic inflammation bring, you know, like joint pain, inability to walk more than a few steps without needing a break. and the impact it was having on his family. He was at that time he was approaching the Zetbound journey with hope and joy in his heart which was good. He did go offline for a bit. So then to see bound on DJLP1 streets um this Monday, my goodness, this man looks incredible.
I mean, he always was a handsome man.
Mrs. Bound would not mind me saying that. He always wasn't a handsome man.
But my goodness, you could see you can see the joy in his eyes has returned.
The the vitality, you could see life, strength, power have returned. He's lost. I'm sure Shnie, do you remember?
Was it just over? Oh, I've got somebody new on Southern Hill Sirens. Oh, hi. Um, Southern Hill Siren says, "I am Blakeley and I'm a fat fox. My belly hangs and touches the floor and I'm 9 foot seven tall and 1320 pounds of pure fox fat. Go Southern Sirens. You know, we we're juicy and proud in this parts too.
So yes, it's good to see you. But what we were saying, so yeah, when we saw Bound on um JLP DJP1 Streets on Monday, he looked incredible. So he's explaining that he's kind of gone down the the gray market. He's using um medication that has been tested. So he's received it from it's the researchbased you know like the reserve based peptides or peppers I think he was calling it.
Mr. Mr. Malatto is on and he says if something if and then four hearts.
Hi it's lovely to meet you Mr. Malato.
But yeah, so Bon was talking about these peppers and he was saying that he uses tepatide still um and he uses toepide because out of all of the GLP ones so that's your semiglutides your trutides um and zeppetide toeptide definitely has the um the best food suppression which is great and I found that because I was given um a dose of reta from the gray market. Um but it had been tested as being safe, not necessarily for human consumption.
Um but it was safe. But I tried it. Um I had no food suppression at all. I ate a huge amount of carbs and yet I could not go to the L all week. So I was like reta is not the answer for me. I'm sticking with his but um Bound was talking about uh he called it KAG and I cannot remember what KAG stands for but apparently that works well as a food suppressant. Um so I'm not sure if that's something that I will need to look into or not. I don't know. It might just be because I've been eating these um carbohydrates. Oh, hold on. Mr. Matto says, "I love the accent." Oh, thank you. I'm from Nottingham in the UK. Um, and if you really love the accent, I read children's stories that I write on a channel that's called Auntie Joe's Bedtime Stories. So, if you want to subscribe to that one, you can hear me just read a children's story um and and help them on their journey to sleep.
And I'm saying sleep. I need to I need to get out of bed soon. My goodness. So, I've got 10 more minutes with you. Um, Jillian says, "I suffered from fibromyalgia and pure water fasting has helped me." Jillian, tell us more because I'm, you know, one thing that I'm noticing as well is, you know, I'll get ready and I'll be walking downstairs to go downstairs and start my job and I'm finding now that the stairs are becoming problematic again.
It must be inflammation in my knees. So, I'm not I've not had any Ben & Jerry's.
Um, I've managed to stay away from Ben & Jerry's. And maybe that is another reason why I'm going to bed earlier, so that I don't have that.
What am I going to eat?
You don't eat when you're asleep.
It's true. You do not eat when you're asleep. I'm not sure if I'm putting out something there that's a a news newsworthy with Colin with Colin's mask on. There is no eating. Anyway, so yeah, I'm I don't know what's going on. I don't know whether um my fibromyalgia is flaring back up, whether it's because carbs are coming back into my diet when I'm supposed to be a carnivore. And I know carnivore is what works for my health. the carnivore and the tepatide was really helping to reduce the inflammation in my body and now it seems that it's not. And it the I mean the difference could be the fact that I'm working. I'm working. I'm sitting at a desk. Um I am using the vibration plate. Um I'm getting up um at least twice a day to get on and do like some vibration plate movement. I'm walking with the Sir Michael cane, but I've not been to the gym in the last two weeks because I've not had the energy.
Uh, don't tell Jonathan that.
Don't tell Jonathan I've not been to the gym.
Um, ah, so stress stress triggers my food noise. Okay. Now, there's something in there definitely, Jillian, because I mentioned last week that um, starting a new job in itself is a stressor.
whether you're excited or not, it it is a stressor. Um, and there's uh what's the word? What's that word I'm looking for?
The the adrenaline. So whether it's um nervous energy, whether it's nervous energy, whether it's anxiety, that in itself causes stress. And because I've got primary aldostroneism, then that also um explains why maybe my adrenaline was rising. Um and maybe that in turn has been raising my eldoststerone, which then Shaunie, you'll know this, won't you? As the eldoststerone is rising, then that is making me retain more water and that could be what's going off with my joints.
Right. Right. Okay. God, Jerene, honestly, this is why we adore you in the community. We adore you.
Um, so she's explaining, "I water fast for 3 weeks and lost 38 pounds. My thighs were three times the size. After fasting, it went away." Oh, so especially were you finding with your fibromyalgia, Jilline, that you also had um the edema in your thighs? Were you getting like pockets of of water that were appearing on your thighs and making it look like almost like um a mattress? You know how the mattress has those or like hold on cuz I'm in bed. Let me show you this pillow where it's got these little pockets.
That's what was happening with my with my thighs. Whenever I have the fi um fibult flare up, I get pockets of water.
And I think back in the day we used to call it cellulite and stuff, but it's not. It's something that happens when I'm flaring up. Um, and I mean, I've got to be careful cuz I'm I sleep in the altogether. So, I've got to be careful about how I move now. Um, but I'm I'm sure I noticed that there was pockets of Yes. Hold on. Let me show you.
Uh, let me see if I could do that.
Can you see my knee there? Can you see that pocket of water just underneath the um the kneecap? Can you see it there?
Okay. So, this is what I mean. I've got the inflammation that's coming and appearing in my um in my body.
So, maybe it is maybe it is the fact of the stress is increasing my eldoststerone and then that's um making everything bad. Yeah, you can see it.
Can't you, Jillian? You know what is really infuriating?
I went to my doctors. Um I went to my doctors. This was back in 2020.
And I said, "I've got I'm getting these pockets of like fluid or something. Um something's wrong." And I said, "And there's problems with my at that time there was problem with my urine. Um it was coming out really thr um and my and and dark. Um, and I was like, "There's something really, really wrong. Anyone who knows me could see it instantly. A doctor, maybe they don't know me. A doctor could not see what I was showing them. I showed three different doctors. They could not see what I was talking about." And it's like, well, this was one of the things that they said was about um, you know, they need to have more um, medical references of skin color that's other than Caucasian because if you're looking on a darker skin tone and in our family, we're like the United Colors of Beneton. We've got all different levels of melanin in our skin. Um, but if you can't see it on my skin when we can clearly see it in photos, you know, in a video photo, and yet they couldn't see it in real time. This is why it took so long for me to get diagnosed with anything. Um, but I'm getting there. I'm getting there. But yes, I wonder then if the transition of starting work and don't get me wrong, I am loving I'm loving being a working girl working 9 to5. I'm absolutely loving it.
Um, but I wonder if the stress of this transition is what's sparking my my feeling like I'm craving some sort of carbs. And I'm saying that the naughty carbs. They're not naughty carbs.
Carbohydrates are perfectly fine if you do not suffer from a response to those carbohydrates. And unfortunately, I suffer from a response to almost every single complex carb. I'm okay with sugar. I can eat sugar and I can eat white potatoes till the clouds come home. Till the cows come home, sorry.
But sweet potato, no, ma'am.
Artificial sweeteners.
Got to stay away from those. Um, and yes, Jolene, you're right. You did have it so bad that you couldn't walk, but Dr. Fun is our favorite doctor and he helped with the fasting. Right. I think I'm going to have to look into this fasting a little bit more because I was doing um three-day fasts once a month and finding I was getting a huge a huge response, a brilliant response. I'm not sure about a 3-w weekek fast.
Um and I have to be careful because of all the medication that I'm still on. I need to take medication with food. So, at the moment, I take my medication with the fiber tablets um that I use, but maybe let I'll look into that one some more. Um I'm seeing an endocrinologist on the 29th of May. Yay. So, that's what 4 days after your birthday. So, I'm seeing an endocrinologist then and hopefully they could give me some guidance on what to do about this um rapid increases of eldoststerone and the the damages that it's causing to my body.
But folks, it has been lovely catching up with you. In fact, let me see. Is there a way? Right.
Right. Excuse the state of my bedroom.
Excuse the state of my bedroom.
I'm getting out of bed. That's my tripod. Right. I'm getting out of bed.
I have a bladder full of water, so I've not had a chance to um clear the deck, so to speak. But whilst you're all on, let's step on the scales and see where I am today.
What's that showing?
What's that showing? 111.
Oh no.
So I'm still still 2 kilos heavier than what I was last Friday.
Wow.
Well, that's not good news, is it? But I'm going to I'm going to be kind to myself because a I have not I've not succumbed and had um anything that I shouldn't. I've not ordered Ben & Cherries. I've not eaten any Tobberin. I gave all those tobering to Tracy DDD next door. So, whoever bought them, thank you so much, but it's kind of um it was it was blocking my ability to continue my journey. Well, I'm going to look into doing um the fasting again, but I think I have to get my um energy levels sort of first. Um is that Miss Mary? Miss Mary.
Miss Mary.
Yes, we get. You see, you know, this is what I mean. She knows that I'm up, so she's like, "Miss Mary, come on. Show yourself, Miss Mary."
Right, I better get going because there's a certain little lady who's shouting my name. I hope you all have a wonderful day. I'm going to make sure that um I look into these things in more detail, but not give myself a hard time because clearly there's something going on. I don't think this time I don't think there's a need for me I don't think there's a need for me just yet to to try anything more on the grain markets. Um so I'm going to stay away for anything on the crane markets for now. Um but just be mindful that these things are happening because of the things that are happening in my life.
Okay, so I'm gonna wish you all a fabulous day. I do need to go and get somebody fed because a little lady is shouting my name. Miss Mary Jena said hello, Miss Mary. So, I'm about to give her some cat treats. So, I will get her some cat treats now. But you all have a fabulous day and I'll see you all soon. If I don't see you over the weekend, have a fabulous weekend.
Bye, folks.
