Pecan Orchard Secret Ingredient本站添加:
Hello everyone. Scott with Heritage Farms Texas. Well, here it is. It's Friday before uh Memorial Day and u I tell you what, just what a great time of the year. Before we get started on this video for this Memorial Day, man, shout out to all of those who served for the military, all of those who gave the ultimate life and price to pay for our freedom. Uh just want you to know place in my heart for all you guys. So, having said that, Friday afternoon, took a day of vacation. We are getting ready to spray zinc at the uh pecan orchard. I'm late.
I'm late. I'm late. This should have been done about 2 or 3 weeks ago, but man, I'm burning the candle at both ends these days, and I just have absolutely no time. All right, let me tell you what we're into.
So, here we are. So, uh but before we jump on this video, do me a favor, guys.
If you're new to the channel, please, uh subscribe. cost you absolutely nothing.
Um, also leave us a comment. We'd love to know what part of the country you're from and uh just would love to hear from you also what you think about the video.
All right, so this is the first time of the year we are hooking up the A1 mist sprayer. And let me tell you what, it takes a little while to get the sprayer set up. You got to fill it up with the chemicals, but the first thing I always do is I put water in it. I grease all of the fittings. Uh, I have to put the, uh, the little strainer filter back on. I take all of that off during the winter so nothing will break.
And, uh, you get it all hooked up. Takes a little time to do that, man. So, uh, but then when I went to fire it up, I had a problem. Um, the pump was not turning. I couldn't get and the belt going to the pump was smoking. So, immediately shut it down. uh got on the phone with the technical guys from A1 Terminator, A1 Mist sprayers, and let me tell you what, those guys are just phenomenal. Uh they walked me through a couple of things to troubleshoot. Uh they told me before I buy a new pump or anything to uh get a big pair of channel locks and uh see if I can break that pump free and make it spin. I did that after tapping on it with a hammer gently.
Gently is the key word. It finally uh broke loose. I guess it just had a little rust or something on the inside from sitting all winter. And uh it is up and running. So, I'm loaded now. I've got everything in here and I'm about to jump in and get with it. All right, let's go.
Okay, guys. You can see what I'm doing here. We come up to the trees. We turn it on. I'm articulating the uh spray up and down. getting the trunk because there's woodpeckers on the trunk. You know, we're trying to get uh insects to come into the holes they punch. So, uh today's a pretty good day. There's very little wind in North Texas, which is very rare, but you can kind of see this is what we are doing. We are trying to make stuff happen. All right, guys. That A1 mist sprayer, love it.
problem.
All right.
And that's how you do it.
Well, we got it accomplished. We got it done.
Sprayed 150 trees, wrapped it up. The New Holland 5060 did an excellent job. In spite of all of its uh oil leaks and problems and things that it has for an old tractor, she just keeps getting it done. Man, she is a workhorse. So, pretty happy with that.
So anyway, sprayer worked good.
Everything uh was mission accomplished.
And uh since I got it hooked up, uh one of my relatives is going to take it over to his pecan orchard and spray his trees. So uh it's been a pretty productive day. We got some things done so you guys can kind of see what the trees are looking like in the orchard.
All right, guys. Hey, leave me a comment. Let me know what you think. But we put out zinc today and we put it down at a ratio of about one and a half pounds per 60 gallons and we put out close to 100 gallons today on 150 trees.
So that's what we did. Pecan trees love zinc. It's their jam. It's the nutrient that they really love. Just makes them pop. The trees are looking good.
Hopefully we'll continue to get some rains. We started irrigating. I wish I could have done some pruning, but uh hey, there's only so many hours in the day, man. So, I try to tackle those mission critical jobs. All right, guys and girls. As always, glory be to God.
