[00:00:10]The 1800s developers Jesse Clay and James H. Kirkpatrick start building this neighborhood along the Georgia Railroad.

For 23 years, it wasn't even a part of Atlanta. The 1960s [music] and 70s, white flight hit hard. The neighborhood becomes majority black, industrial decline sets in and the area struggles. The 1990s, urban pioneers start rolling in restoring these historic homes one by one. Today, the Kirkwood Historic District is on the National Register of Historic [music] Places.
