India Heatwave Intensifies As Temperatures Cross 44°CAñadido:
Now, India is grappling with an extreme heat wave with north, central, and western parts of the nation placed under severe red and orange alerts by the meteorological department. Temperatures have soared above 44° C affecting not only residents, but also the surrounding wildlife. However, the eastern and southern parts of the country are in contrast are expected to have moderate to heavy rainfall in the coming few days.
Devishekar has this report.
The heatwave conditions in many parts of India have taken a serious turn with temperatures rising to more than 40° C and orange and red alerts in many states across north, central, and west India.
People are covering their faces and heads with towels, scarves, and cloth to shield themselves from the harsh sun and scorching winds.
Government agencies are now resorting to innovative ways to fight the extreme weather phenomena. Currently being used on a trial basis, the air-conditioned helmet and fans are part of a wider effort by the Delhi traffic police to ease the strain on personnel working outdoors during the harsh summer months.
With these AC helmets and portable fans, the cooling headgear is providing much-needed relief to personnel enduring extreme temperatures on the capital's busy roads.
The Indian Meteorological Department is also posted on its social media about the ongoing conditions and precautionary measures to be taken to avoid any stroke-like condition. The Punjab government has revised the working hours for its offices setting them from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. primarily to mitigate the impact of the intense summer heat.
This decision, issued under the Chief Minister's directives, aims to offer relief from the prevailing heat conditions while simultaneously ensuring that public services remain uninterrupted and tasks are completed efficiently. Man you move your mouth you can hide it there. As per the instructions of the honorable Chief Minister, the timings for officers have been set from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All officers and staff should reach on time.
I appeal that they cooperate with the general public who come and get their work done quickly. This is the message.
As temperatures soar across the plains, Uttarakhand has witnessed a sharp rise in weekend travel with Dehradun emerging as a preferred getaway for travelers.
