Pepper the Giant Purple Dog is a horror game that was never officially released in 2002, making it a piece of lost media; the game features a seemingly innocent premise of caring for a giant purple dog in Normalville, but players discover that the NPCs are actually trapped souls and the dog is sentient and hungry, requiring players to kill neighbors to survive, revealing a dark twist that transforms the game from a cute pet simulator into a psychological horror experience.

The DARK TRUTH about this PURPLE DOG...
Added:People are trapped in this seemingly innocent game. You're tasked with taking care of Pepper the giant purple dog. But as you begin to explore things, strange warnings start coming your way, revealing that this game isn't what it seems. Let's find out the truth. All right, here we go. We're starting the game. What are we going to find out? A lonely man in a house of emptiness.
Okay. A chance to bring lost media to light. Oh, this is a lost media type game. But is the success worth it? All right. This is interesting. What are we going to find out? Your family? Your friends? Where are they? Oh no. Wait, what happened to our family? Oh no. Are they all gone? Alas, you trudge on.
Okay, I imagine that's Pepper right there. That giant purple dog. Oh no, no, no. What is Pepper doing right there?
Just poking out of the shadows. I I saw you. All right, let's go ahead and do this.
What is this? Peppa the Giant purple dog was a video game that never saw the light of day.
>> Okay, so this is Lost Media.
>> Planned to drop in the year of 2002 under Hagenstein Games. Brian Hagenstein had publicly announced that this project would be the defining pillar of the next generation of gaming. 2002 came and went years later and we're still in the dark.
This isn't the usual cover up.
>> Yeah. Yeah. And there's something waiting, bubbling beneath the surface that is ready to pop. And now it is time we unveil it.
>> Oh. Oh, here it is. Okay, so this is Pepper the Giant Purple Dog. So, it's now been confirmed that it's Lost Media, a game that was never fully released.
Oh, what's this?
>> Hey, Jacob. I hope you're doing good.
>> Uh-huh.
>> I know you're busy, but I just wanted to touch base and make sure the CD made it over to you. All right. Okay.
>> And seriously, please be careful with it. That's one of the only known test copies of Pepper the Giant purple dog in existence. Anyway, let me know what you think what you've had a chance to play it. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
>> So, where Jacob then? Okay. Yeah. So, we're playing as that guy in the beginning, Jacob. He likes exploring Lost Media. So, that's what we're doing right now. Let's go ahead and figure out what this game is about. Oh, okay. So, it seems like we're in Jacob's apartment then. And here's the copy of Pepper the Giant Purple Dog. Okay. Let's just go ahead and uh sit down and play it. a thing terrifying, right? Hey, what is this? All right, here we go. We're going to play the game. Oh, this is cute. This is nice. Look, there's Pepper. All right, now let's find out why this game was not released. Hopefully, uh, nothing creepy ends up happening. Objective: Explore Normalville. Okay. Oh, there's Pepper. All right, Pepper. I'm going over to you. Let's see why you're so creepy. Oh, hello there, sir. You're an interesting looking fellow. How's it going? Hello and welcome to Pepper the giant purple dog. I'm Oscar. Okay, take a look around Normalville. You'll get to meet some great folks. Don't forget to pick up dog food for Pepper. He's always hungry.
>> Okay, so we got to pick up food for Pepper then. Thank you, sir. So, we just got to talk to some of the neighbors. I mean, everything seems fine. These guys seem like lovely looking neighbors.
Hello there.
>> This is the best place to raise a family.
>> You have the same voice, huh? All right.
Uh, I guess we'll uh talk with uh you, Granny.
>> Welcome. I love Normal. so much. You'll love it here, too. I >> think you look exactly the same as the other guy. So, we got to go to the grocery store to get some dog food.
Along the way, we're talking to neighbors. You all saw that, right? He said, "Help me." Hello there, sir. Are are you going to say anything more from that? Huh? Okay. I feel like I should talk to the other neighbors and see what they have to say. Hello there.
>> We just got here one day and never left.
>> Oh, okay. So, are these actual people trapped in this game? You know, that's why the other person said, "Help me."
Hold on. I kind of want to talk to like these other people here. Hello. Are you all sentient or something?
>> We've been trapped for decades. Our bodies are decaying.
>> This game got so dark so fast.
>> Your dog is so big it can see over the fence.
>> Oh yeah. I mean, that's Pepper. That's my cute purple dog.
>> You have quite the big purple dog.
>> Yep. Thank you. Thank you. Okay. So, it's a mixture of normal sounding people and then people calling for help and just saying that they've been trapped here for a long time. Then >> we're stuck here.
>> Yep. Okay.
>> Hello. How are you today?
>> Uh, yeah. Okay. Exhibit A. Let's see. I can just explore around this map. I do see a gravestone here. Oh, look at me. Huh? What was that? We just got teleported. That's from walking towards a gravestone. Okay, that was strange. Whose gravestone was that? You also noticed Okay, so we can't even go there anymore.
We just get taken back here. What about over here? There's another gravestone.
So, hold on, Pepper. I'll get to you in a bit. Uh, I got to check out this gravestone over here.
Yeah, it gets quiet again. Can I not grab the coins here? Okay, so we can grab the coins, but it looks like whenever we get to these gravestones and something creepy happens. Oh. Oh, we can grab it now. So, it just says rip, but we don't really know who's it for. It seems like there's a ton of different gravestones then. Okay. And then the music starts back as soon as we go back into the main part of the game. Okay.
Creepy things are already happening in this game. This is interesting. All right, let's go ahead and grab the dog food, then. Hello there. Uh, one dog food, please. Oh, there it is. It's the only thing you have in the store.
No, no, no. What was that? What was that? I I was just being quiet and I saw something creepy there.
What are you?
Huh?
What are you whispering? What? What are you supposed to be?
>> No, no, no. What in the Dr. Nowhere are you?
Are you saying something?
You're just looking at me everywhere I go. What happens if I get close? Oh, it just says, "Look at me again." Okay, I'm starting to understand something creepy is watching me in this game. Then I'm just going to go ahead and grab the coins cuz I need it for the dog food.
Excuse me, sir. Yeah, you you stay right there. Um, I'm just going to stop. I just need the coins. All right.
Grabbing these coins. Grabbing these coin. You're just following me everywhere I go. All right. You stay there, pal. I'mma uh I'm going just grab up.
No, no, no. Wait. Is it like I turn around and he follows me? Is that how it works? Okay. Yeah, I think it is. Yeah, it literally says look at me. Okay. I should have paid attention to that earlier, but that makes sense now. So, I got to be staring at him to uh get these coins then. Where you at, pal? Oh, there you are. Okay, so just stare at you.
Grab this coin. And then I need one more coin. Where is it at? Looking at you, pal. You grab this one. Okay, we got our coins. Here's a story book for your reward. I don't know if I want to look at that. Robo's Grand Adventure. Okay.
Written by Robert Holen. Roboy was the coolest toy around. Okay. I mean, what what is this? What are we looking at? He was going to fly off the shelves. He waited. Oh, is no one gonna buy him?
They're getting all the other toys but him and waited and waited. He was the last toy left. Nobody bought him. Oh, then that's it. Okay, we start back here. Okay, so now we just got to go to the store and get the dog food. Don't worry, Pepper. The dog food's coming.
Can I like pet you or something? You uh you just stay there. Hello there, neighbors.
>> I see you have enough change now to buy food for Pepper down at the local convenience store. Uh-huh. Huh? I can talk to these guys again. They got more dialogue. We love the neighborhood.
Yeah, I'm sure you do, buddy. I'm sure you do. All right, so here we are. We're at the store. Let's go ahead and grab our dog food. Eh, I'll take this one, please. Okay, and now we just got to go and feed Pepper. This should be totally easy thing where uh nothing creepy will happen again because that's been going great so far. Pepper. Pepper, my purple dog, here's your food. Eat up.
How how's the food? Do you do you like it?
>> Thank you for feeding me.
>> Oh, shoot. You talk.
>> Are you surprised to hear me speak?
>> Yeah, a little bit.
>> To hear me talk your language.
>> Yeah, it's a big as usual. For the first time, people meet me.
>> Oh, >> I like you know, you were quick to get the job done.
>> Okay, that's interesting. So, that means there's been other people who've played this game and uh talked with Pepper. I don't know if Pepper is innocent or not, but uh being able to talk like that is kind of creepy. Let's see. We got to talk with Oscar. Who is Oscar? Oh, I guess it's you there. Hello.
>> Your pet is super radical. How did she get so tall?
>> I guess by eating a lot.
>> The dog's name is Pepper, right?
>> Yeah.
>> Does it have a cat companion called Salt? Haha.
>> Listen, dude. This is just a stupid routine I have to go through every time someone plays the game.
>> Things are about to get a bit get crazy, so scrap. It's just a reminder. Do what Pepper says.
>> Do what Pepper says. What is Pepper going to tell me? Pick up the poop. How much poop do you got, Pepper? Oh man, that's a lot. Okay. Yeah, we grabbed this one. We got this. We got this. We got this.
What is that? What is that noise? I don't like that. Okay, we grabbed all the poop. Now we got to talk to Pepper.
All right, I'm coming over. Pepper, don't do anything crazy. I don't know if I trust this dog, actually. It seems like everybody in here is just trapped in a loop, forced to live the same life every time. Hello there, Pepper. So, a bit of a news flash. We actually don't have any more dog food.
>> Oh, >> big oversight by the developers.
>> Okay.
>> While I don't have a stomach, I do have all the feelings of hunger.
>> Oh, >> and I am hungry again. So, unless you want to be eaten, I need you to take care of this little problem I have here.
>> I need you to kill your neighbors. Wait, >> go to the basement. You should be able to jailbreak the game to night mode through the cold. No, no, no, no, no.
Ah, okay. I see the problem in this game now. So, Pepper is sentient and feels hunger despite the devs not adding in that much food. So, now in return, Pepper wants to eat the humans. Okay, I get this. Things are going to go pretty bad, aren't they? Um, okay. So, we got to go in here to jailbreak. Okay, so we're jailbreaking the game. We've entered a night mode. What is this?
Obtain the key. Okay, so this is the code of the game now. All right, don't mind us. Oh, yeah. Look, there's the playground right there and everything.
Oh, okay. That's terrifying. But we got the key. Give me, give me, give me, give me.
Okay, I think we got it. Okay, so now we've uh broken the game. Wait, is this the actual pepper?
Wait, that's actually cute. Is this Pepper in the game? Then we just got to do this puzzle piece. Oh no. Why her eyes like that? Oh, wait. I don't I don't like where this is going now.
What is this that we're making? That ain't Pepper right there. Uh-uh. No, no, no, no, no. Objective: talk to Pepper.
Okay. Oh, no. No. No. Pepper. Okay.
Everything's now darker. Yeah, we've activated night mode, as Pepper has called it. Pepper, you uh you wanted to talk with me.
Was that car horn? Pepper, >> welcome back. Hope it wasn't too difficult.
>> It was actually kind of easy.
>> Here's the fun part.
>> I need you to go to Oscar's house and kill him for me.
>> Oscar, >> I'm tired of him, honestly.
>> But he was nice.
>> He warns people like you, and they don't even need to be warned.
>> Okay.
>> Wouldn't you agree? It's the house in the back far right of the street.
>> Oh jeez. All right. So, now it wants me to go to Oscar's house and kill him.
Even though Oscar is actually a good guy. Okay, this is going to get really bad really fast. I don't want to do this, Oscar. I'm sorry, man. It's so creepy walking around this neighborhood in the dark. Oscar.
Okay, so we're hiding right now. This is Oscar pulling in. Got a nice car, Oscar.
All right, what do we do this time, Oscar? There's an axe right there. Why kill Oscar? Oh, great. I don't want to do this, Oscar.
Okay, so we could break that down.
Interesting. Oscar. Oh, no. Oh, he's showering.
>> I know. I should have expected it to be me. Been a long time coming. I just hope you know what you've signed up for, pal.
Do the honors. At least you'll be taking me out of this wretched world. No, Oscar. I don't want to do this. I'm sorry.
Oh jeez.
What just happened there? What was that?
I got an achievement called Do Pepper's dirty work. Okay, now we have to go to the basement. What? What is this game?
So, it seems like people who play this game, this uh Pepper the Purple Dog, they get trapped in here and then Pepper chooses one of them to get killed so that Pepper won't starve. And we have to uh go to the basement. All right, here we go. No, not the meat grinder. I don't want to do this. Oh jeez. Okay, we're doing it. Um Oh boy, we made a Appetite dog kibble. Wait, did it have that face before? All right, whatever. We'll just grab the dog kibble. Okay, now we got the last achievement. Feed Pepper. Okay, Pepper, here's the food.
>> Good boy.
>> Don't call me that. That's kind of weird. Oh, Oscar. Rest in peace, Oscar.
I'm so sorry. Wait, wait, wait. What's happening?
>> Where are you going?
>> Can we quit the game?
>> Don't leave me.
>> Oh, so now we're back in the real world.
No, you could jump out of the computer.
No.
And then it just ends there. Pepper isn't done with you yet. All right.
Well, we may be cooked yet. So, what we just played was the demo to Pepper the Giant Purple Dog. You can actually download it for free on Steam if you want to check it out. It looks like the full game is coming out in a couple of months. So, if you want me to play it when the game officially comes out, let me know in the comments down below.
Don't forget to subscribe. Goodbye.
