Football managers often sign shorter-term contracts (such as two-year deals) to demonstrate their value through consistent results year by year, rather than committing to long-term agreements; this approach allows managers to prove their worth through performance while maintaining flexibility for both the club and the manager.

The REAL REASON Andoni Iraola Has Signed A 2 Year Deal At Liverpool本站添加:
Hello and welcome to this Liverpool news roundup here on Anfield Agenda. My name is Connor and I'm here to go through all of the latest Liverpool news as Real Madrid have once again come sniffing around for a Liverpool player. First was Trent. Now it looks like Canate is going and now it looks like they're going for Alexis Mallister this summer if reports are to be believed. We have that we have news around some insight onto how good a manager he is and an explanation as to why he's signing only a two-year deal at Liverpool. Some people have been very confused by this. Some people are even worried about it. But there is a very good explanation to this situation which I will bring to you. We have some news around right backs as well. A little bit on where Ara slot may end up next and some more transfer links to Matteas Fernandez who of course has been linked with Liverpool for quite a while now.
Before we get into it, please do hit the like button, hit the subscribe button and let's jump straight into news. Let's start off with the Alexis Mallister situation then. So it's coming from El de Mar from Spain who I believe is a Spanish publication and they have said breaking Real Madrid want Alexis Mallister. The club has decided to make him their top midfield target this summer. If Florentino Perez wins the elections on Sunday, he will go after him. So it does look like Madrid will go big for Mallister this summer. If indeed Florent Florentino Perez, sorry, wins the presidential election. If you do want to vote for Florentino Perez, there is a link down below. There isn't a link down below obviously, but a lot of people will want them gone. I'm probably in that category. I think if we got the if we got offered a decent amount of money for him, I would take it ultimately. If we got, let's say, 60 or 70 million, I think the club would have to consider it just given the fact that he was so poor last year. His legs look like they're gone. Um, we need more of an engine in midfield, I think, than Alexis Mallister. He just seems to have fallen off a cliff. Maybe he can come back. Maybe Areola will have plans from him and will want to sell him. That's another um aspect of this one. But it does look like Madrid will be going big for him when Perez wins the election because he is going to win the election, isn't he? And this h brings up some other like questions then really like would we take 60 or 70 million first of all or would you rather you go and try and get like like the Chumen or Kamovvinga out of Madrid? Maybe there's a possible swap deal to be done there. I don't know. Maybe there is something into that. But do let me know in the comments below. Would you be letting Alexis Mallister go or not? Because I have to say I probably would. But like if Liverpool do need to raise funds this summer, he's one of the obvious ones to sell. I think in terms of our most valuable assets like you're obviously not going to sell Isach or Verkitique, players like that who are only after coming in the door. So you're looking at the likes of maybe Alexis Mallister, maybe Cody Gako could be sold for a few quid. Dominic of course he's probably worth the most in the squad, but I don't think anyone wants to sell so to be honest. But Lexus Mallister probably the obvious candidate there to raise maybe at least 60 or 70 million. But do let me know. Do you agree? Would you sell Alexis Mallister this summer? Moving on to the manager situation, and of course, Andon Areola does look very much like he is coming in as Liverpool's next head coach. I believe Romano has reported this morning that he signed a 2-year deal, and we will explain why it's a two-year deal in just a moment, but he has said, "Andon Areola is already involved in transfer plans and strategy at Liverpool." So, that's interesting to see um who some potential targets could be, who he might want to stick around as well. Like, who would he want to keep?
Let's say like Alexis Mallister, will he have a decision to make there? Would he want to give Harvey Elliot a chance?
Will he want to give Federico KSA a chance? Or will he be sold? Players like that. I'll be very intrigued to see like who he does keep in that regard. But moving on to this. So an anonymous CEO of football for a multi- club model operating across Europe speaking to Sam Magguire and Andoni Areola. So no idea who this is, but someone fairly well placed in football. Let's say someone who is high up at some sort of football club in Europe has said this to say about Iola on the three four year horizon. He's probably the best out there, but it'll depend on how the squad take to him because he's more of a Rafa Bonitez type. He's a tactical obsessed genius. He doesn't upset anyone, but doesn't build huge rapport with individuals. He wants to improve them, but he expects them to want to improve.
But Tommy Elic, he will be coming in as assistant manager if again reports are to be believed. He's quite good at the management side though, so he might be the buffer this Liverpool group need.
And I don't really know what to make on this to be honest because like that sounds grand. It sounds like he's a tactical obsessed genius. That part's good, but like the not building individual rapport is a little bit not a red flag for me, but like we've seen with Arnold Lot like the second Johnny Heinger left who apparently was a big thing. It was like he was the man who would deal with the players dayto-day, the players all got on really well with him while Arnold was more aloof or kind of stepping back slightly. So I hope it's not a situation like that where is not really involved with the players as much. I'm sure he will be. I'm sure it's not like it's not like he doesn't talk to the players at all, but like someone like Tommy Elie coming in, I believe he is a Liverpool fan as well. I'm sure he will love to have that role and I'm sure the players will get on well with this new management, but just something to keep in mind. It's probably not going to be like a huge thing. Hopefully, it's not an issue, but just something to keep um an eye on. Be be uh wary of it, I suppose. Like I said, like Arnos kind of had a similar issue, let's say. But let's hope it doesn't happen again with Areola. And now a report from well not even report was Andoniola himself saying this um back in 2025 I believe explaining why he only signs two-year deals. So he said the only time I have signed for two years is here at Bournemouth. Um I don't want to continue with a club just because I have a contract. I want to continue because both sides are happy and they want to continue together. The manager's case is as important as the players cases because at the end you have to get the results. I could have whatever contract I have, but if I don't get the results in three or four months, I will be in danger. So, I try to focus on the short term. Do your job, get your results, and then normally everything is fine. In Spain is probably different. With Rio Vicano, I used to renew a lot of times after the season, but I understand it is different in England. So, it's just the way he operates. He wants two-year deals. Thinking short term, just he also going to prove himself year on year basically is what he's getting at. So, I think there was another part of the quote where he said like he could sign a four or five year deal, but he's he's always just focusing on the short term.
He wants to make sure he's proving himself year on year. And that's a good mindset to have. So, I wouldn't worry about the fact it's two-year deal. Yes, it's a little bit scary knowing that like if he has a good first year, we're all thinking he's brilliant and then suddenly he's into his final year of his contract. I wouldn't take it as him like trying to line up and move away in two years time or anything. It is just how he operates. So, you would rather a slightly longer contract, but I have no worries about this. After seeing that explanation, I do understand his rationale and I am I'm just happy he's coming in ultimately. I can't wait to see how we get on. It's going to be an absolute roller coaster either way.
Look, if he leaves after two years, then it is what it is, but we're in for a good ride for next two years, I believe.
I think it's going to be a fascinating time at the club either way. So, let's see how it goes. Next up then, a report from team talk this morning have said Liverpool have joined Manchester United, Arsenal and PSG in the race for Matteas Fernandez after West Ham informed the midfielder he can leave this summer. The Hammers are prepared to cash in following relegation but will demand a fee in the region of 80 million pounds for the 21-year-old who remains one of the most sought-after young midfielders in Europe. Of course, Liverpool have been linked with him for a while. He has been linked with a host of top clubs like we said there, Arsenal, PSG, and in some lesser clubs like Man United as well. They're also trying to get involved somehow, but I do think he will leave West Ham this summer. I have no doubt about that. I don't think he'll want to play Championship football.
Jared Bowen is a different one. He might stay there due to the the family connections and stuff like that. But I yeah, I would say Matteas Fernandez probably does leave. I think there will be a bidding war which Liverpool don't really tend to get dragged into. So, I would say we will keep an eye on it. I'd say we might like if there's a deal agreed for let's say 70 million with someone we might try and match the offer and see what happens from there but I wouldn't really make us favorites for this one because like I said we don't really tend to get into bidding wars. So one to keep an eye on probably not going to be the the number six that comes in but certainly one to keep an eye on and uh see where he ends up. Moving on then to Arnold Slot. So this coming from talk sports arot surprised by Liverpool sacking but up for taking Netherlands job after the World Cup. Dros been links of course with AC Milan as well. He's apparently there's a meeting today, actually Wednesday was the the word the other day that he would have a meeting with AC Milan to see could he take over there. I know they sacked their sporting director and they lost the manager as well. So could end up at AC Milan, could end up at Netherlands after the World Cup. Of course, he would then be back with Cody Gako reunited and it would feel very very good for both of those to be back together. But um wish him all the best. Hopefully he does get a job soon. Um I hope he doesn't like I don't know. I'd like to see him get into a job fairly soon. I feel like I'd like to see him bounce back and hopefully this doesn't affect his career long term. I hope he does have a decent career for himself. But um the Netherlands job could be interesting. AC Milan will be very interested in his style of football could work really well in Syria. So I'm very interested to see what happens if he goes there. Uh speaking of the Syria then let's move on to Marco Pstra because he's a right back that Liverpool have been loosely linked with. I'm not going to say it's too concrete. I think it's more Liverpool fans wanting him as the like preferred target more so than Liverpool actually being like concretely in for him. So Fabitio Romano said in will now push to advance on Marco Pstra deal after selling Denzel dump freeze to Real Madrid. That deal was of course here we go last night. Dump freeze to Real Madrid is happening. So it does look like intra are pushing for Pstra. I believe the fee was something around 3940 million pounds which I don't think Liverpool are going to go and spend that on a 20-year-old Italian right back. It does look like in are the front runners for him. Maybe we do come in. I think teams such as Newcastle and Man City have also been mentioned and maybe we come in at the last minute as well, but again like Matte Fernandez, I'm sure it's one we'll keep an eye on, but I wouldn't exactly be expecting him expecting him to come into Anfield anytime soon to be honest. So that is that one. H Romano then speaking on Dumb Freeze, of course, he was a player Liverpool were linked with and wanted.
As we said today, Liverpool tried right up until the very last moment to see whether there was any possibility of continuing talks and negotiations for Dumpries and to keep the door open, including with the arrival of Areola.
The answer was no, because Dumpries chose Real Madrid. So much like Canate, much like Trent, he chose Real Madrid over Liverpool. Moving on then to the Athletic, they have said Liverpool appreciate Morgan Rogers, but are prioritizing different positions other than an attacking midfielder as they seek to rebuild under new management.
though again Morgan Rogers the name has been floating around for a long time.
I'm sure Liverpool will be keeping an eye on the situation. H there was links with Arsenal as well. I'd say he's much more likely to go there than to us. I just don't think it's not really the position we need to be spending money on is it? like I know he can play out on the left but he's not really like a a speedy tricky out andout left winger that we could use to like just we need pace we need directness and I don't think Morgan Rogers is really that profile like he is more of a number 10 and he be he' be coming in to compete with Floren Beards and Dominic more so than the left or right hand wings. So not one I would expect to happen again maybe one to keep an eye on but I'd be shocked if we did end up signing Morgan Rogers this summer. That's all for me anyway. Thank you very much for watching. Prague will have a video out in the afternoon live again this evening from 8:45 as always. That's all for me anyway.
