Despite workers putting in unprecedented effort through overtime, early mornings, and extra responsibilities, many are still experiencing layoffs and job loss, indicating that hard work alone no longer guarantees job security in today's economy. This shift is driven by companies cutting costs, replacing workers with technology, and economic pressures, which has led to increased worker burnout, stress, and a growing need for employees to build multiple income sources and prioritize financial stability over traditional career loyalty.

PEOPLE ARE WORKING HARDER THAN EVER…STILL GETTING FIRED 😭💔Added:
I got laid off of work this week and Hey, welcome back to my YouTube channel.
So, in today's video I'll be talking about people working harder than ever and still getting fired. So, I've put the videos together so that you watch.
I'll be back to share my two cents.
>> laid off of work this week and it's been tough.
It hasn't fully sink in yet.
But, it it's getting there. Um today has been a tough day. I I'm feeling it.
Um I work in health care and as everyone knows things are not good.
There are a lot of layoffs happening in the industry and a lot of people being affected.
I understand that companies have to make the tough decision sometimes to um protect their bottom line.
But, it doesn't change the fact that it it's still someone's livelihood.
No one knows what anybody else is going through in their personal lives, so >> [snorts] >> it's tough regardless.
But, I'm going to take this time to try new things and see how it goes.
It's never too late to start something new and that's what I'm going to do.
I'm tired of thinking, oh, what if I do this or what would happen?
I'm just going to do it.
I'm old.
So, what's going to happen? It's going to fail. Well, it's a learn it's a learning experience regardless.
You're never going to fail because you learn something from it.
>> [snorts] >> Um so, yeah.
>> [sighs] >> You'll be seeing a little bit more of me.
Hopefully, you don't get tired.
But, yeah, I'm going to try some something new and see how it goes.
I just got laid off of my job that I've had for the last 2 and 1/2 years and I have zero clue what I'm going to do.
This is the third time that I've been laid off from a company and I guess it's just kind of the name of the game with this industry.
I worked for a creator merch company and we lost a few big clients, which meant there was no longer sustainable to keep me on staff.
And I kind of had an idea because I was going through my personal emails, saw a tracking number, saw that that tracking number was for an envelope that later would contain my last paycheck.
I have zero backup plan and this is way out of my comfort zone to even put this out there, but yeah, I have no clue what I'm going to do.
I am married. I have a 4-year-old daughter and I guess I'll just take this time to enjoy her and all the upcoming activities, but honestly, I have zero clue what I'm going to do now. I wanted to have a quick conversation just regarding some ongoing concerns about um adherence to our company's professional standards.
So, Okay.
Yeah, so you do have a customer-facing position and it's important that every team member consistently represents the company's brand and image according to the expectations that we have outlined in the employee handbook. And you know, we've had previous conversations about this and there's been some efforts, but the expectation has hasn't been fully met.
So, after reviewing with HR, we've decided to terminate you effectively immediately.
Um what are you talking about? What what are you what are you talking about?
So, the decision is based on continuing non-compliance with company standards.
>> Okay, okay, what is non-compliance with company standards? Like what I I literally wear a suit I wear a suit every single day to work. So, what what are you referencing?
>> And we we we thank you for that, but you're not adhering to all of our company policies.
>> Okay, what company policy am I not What company policy am I not adhering to?
>> We're I'm not going to continue to go back and forth. Are you talking about my dreads?
No, it's not about any personal attributes. It seems like No, no, because Carrie last week said something about my dreadlocks being out because I didn't have them in bear twist and she said something like I didn't look professional and then this comes up randomly from HR, which is you guys. So, is this about my You guys do realize that this is infringing on my rights, right? This is discriminatory action.
You cannot fire me due to my hairstyle. That's insane. So, I do understand what you're saying and I unfortunately you will receive your final paycheck and any relevant details.
I I know that you could go back on that Spiral app that you were just mentioning earlier and you can use that auto apply feature that they have and you can move on forward with that. We do appreciate the work that you've done during your time here and we wish you the best moving forward.
It is May 23rd, 2026.
And yesterday I got laid off of my job.
Yay.
>> [snorts] >> I don't work for anybody no more.
Oh my god, reality is hitting, but in a good way, not a bad way. I literally told myself, "By June 2026, I'm going to quit my job and fully trade."
And now I'm laid off, and June is next week. And this is like the power of manifestation. Now, I can give it my all. I'm going to document my journey because I have full faith that this is going to work out. I know it's going to work out.
And it's time to take this risk. Or work for someone who did.
Love that quote.
Hello, good morning. My name is Breonna, and I, at 28 weeks pregnant, have just been laid off from my job that I loved.
Um that was very generous, and had great benefits and great salary.
And now I have nothing.
And I'm about to have a baby, so now it's like, what do I do from here?
Um I never envisioned this happening because I always thought my role was actually necessary. But according to my work, it's not [clears throat] necessary enough to keep it because they just shut it down. So, I no longer have a job.
I will soon not have benefits.
And I can't even apply for Medicaid or unemployment until December 31st because my work said we cannot sign our contracts until December 31st, which is great. Love lovely.
So now, I mean, I'm still generating income this month because they're keeping me on payroll through the 31st. And then after the 31st, I mean, I actually got like a decent severance package, but it's not nearly enough to secure a future for my child and I.
And it's just um it's a lot. Like this economy is [ __ ] We live in New York, so things are expensive, and we're also Orthodox Jews, so things are doubly expensive because >> [snorts] >> our food is twice the price of like non-kosher food, which is ridiculous, and I hate that. Um And of course, living in New York, rent is insane. So, I've been applying to jobs like crazy because I cannot just like take a rest and, you know, start my maternity leave extra early.
We're not doing that. Um we have to do what we do to survive.
Granted, I am married. My husband does work, but like I said, things are expensive, um too expensive to live off of one salary for now, especially cuz I have, you know, a way of life that I'm accustomed to. I worked very hard for it.
And I don't want to ever live bare-bones again. I did that my entire childhood.
Not about it. Again, not not about to go on that journey again. So, we're doing what we're doing. We're doing what we can. We are not simply accepting this as like, "I'm just going to be a stay-at-home wife for the rest of my pregnancy and through maternity leave and then start looking for jobs."
No, that's not who I am. I want to find a job. If they hire me, they hire me.
And then if I have to take the minimum amount of leave, like short-term disability, then so be it. Um because I just want a job now.
And I hate being financially unstable.
And yeah, I'm also the type of person who needs to be doing something constantly. We're also going to get ready, by the way.
Starting with Honey Dew Labs Hypochlorous Acid. This stuff is great on my rosacea. It's the same thing as the Tower 28 SOS spray.
I'm just I'm a person my personality is that I need to be constantly doing something. I need to be doing something need to be productive.
I can only do so much in a day.
Um So, we're we're going to be productive, you know?
And that's why I'm like, you know what?
F it. I'm going to start putting on TikTok because I can talk to myself, which helps me keep the voices in here back there. And I can talk to the five people that are going to watch this video.
Um Hi. How how are you? Keep me Keep me busy, please. Um next we're going to go to with the Caudalie Resveratrol Serum.
Retinol alternative for all the pregnant ladies that use retinol.
So, that's kind of the story. I have just been, you know, scared unsure of the future, but I'm hoping I'm going to try to remain positive and pray for the best. I know that like this is for the best, you know? I did not like commuting to the city three times a day. I live, you know, on the outskirts of the city. So, commuting to the office three times a day wasn't fun.
Um same with like the I mean like I worked for a nonprofit, but it was very corporate in nature.
So, there was a lot of pressure on me all the time cuz I do fundraising. So, if we didn't raise enough, it was like, "What are you doing? You're not doing enough."
Maybe that's why they fired like like let go of me, but they said it wasn't because of performance. They said I was a great performer. They just didn't think my role was necessary anymore. Um which is crazy because the CEO makes like a million dollars. Everyone on the exec team makes 500k. And they're cutting the little people instead of cutting off the salary. Like, God forbid. God forbid an exec member take a pay cut of like $10,000. God forbid. God forbid.
Um instead, they have to put people in an uncertain economy into the unknown, which is fabulous.
Um Oh, yes. Caudalie Vinoperfect viral stuff, but it does make my skin glow and feel wonderful.
Um So, yeah. You know, that's the pro. I don't have to go to the office anymore.
If my work were remote, it would be perfect.
If but it was not remote cuz they wanted us in the office.
>> [snorts] >> So, that's the benefit.
No no more commuting. No more going to the city. No more spending $30 on a salad, which I'm glad. No more spending money on the train, which is also extremely expensive because I took the Long Island Railroad.
Very expensive. Very expensive for what it was.
Um so, I get to save a little bit of money in my week, like probably like $400 or more from not commuting. So, thank God. Um But, it's scary. It's still so scary.
So, we're going to navigate this together.
Um We're going to find things to do to keep us occupied. I feel like a child. Like, I have to keep a child busy. I have to keep myself busy.
L'Occitane.
I didn't even say that I did not say that remotely correctly.
Um lip balm. This stuff is actually really good.
So, we're going to keep myself busy. If I have to talk to myself, if I have to talk to five people.
Um if I have to go on outings. So, that's the story of how um you know, I'm fairing in life right now.
So, thank you for watching this little get ready with me. Um my video last video cut off.
Um but thank you for bearing with me as I rambled.
Um and join me on this journey of becoming an unintentional stay-at-home wife.
Hopefully a temporary unintentional stay-at-home wife.
Bye.
This the last day y'all going to be seeing me in this uh sitting like this at [clears throat] work.
I have been laid off after 23 years of service.
Today's my last day after 23 years of service.
So, I want to tell y'all get that [ __ ] money.
Get that money. That's all you here for.
That's all you're there for. You're only there to make the money and make some [ __ ] happen. I'm very blessed. I've raised a family. I've worked from home for 17 years. I have purchased a house. I'm I'm good. Next chapter, y'all just follow along. But, I just want y'all to know today's my very last day after 23 years and I don't know how I feel. I have a lot of I have a lot of emotions. But, that's wild. That's wild.
That's wild.
And I've been thinking because some people a lot of people wouldn't share that or tell somebody that they've been laid off.
And I'm realizing that and I I do a lot more talking than other people as you can see.
>> [laughter] >> I do a lot more talking than other people. So if you guys have been through it, give me some tips.
Resume writers, where y'all at?
Entrepreneurs, where y'all at? I have time.
Clients, I braid hair, where y'all at?
My hours are open all day. I got you.
All day.
All day.
>> [laughter] >> You got to laugh and not cry because crying is not going to do anything. I mean if I have to cry, I will cry. But right now I'm I'm over it. I've That's wild.
So I said all that to say happy Friday.
Happy Friday.
See, everybody talks about the same thing. Work hard and you succeed. But today, many workers are asking a very painful question. What happens when you work hard and still lose your job?
Because right now people are working harder than ever before. They're waking up early, working overtime, skipping breakfast, answering emails late at night, doing extra tasks that are not even part of their jobs. And after all that, many are still getting fired. And today, this is why I want to talk so much about it because the truth is life has become very expensive, you see. Food prices are very high, rent is high, bills are high, transportation is expensive. Because of this these workers are under pressure every single day.
Many people are working harder just to survive. Some people are even working two jobs, others have side hustles after work. And many workers are mentally exhausted. But even with all this hard work, companies are still laying people off. That is why it's very shocking so many workers today. You can be loyal, you can work for years, you can give your best effort and still lose your job in one meeting. Many employees are now realizing something very scary. Hard work does not always guarantee security anymore. And this is changing the way people think about work. People stayed one People stayed with the one People stayed at one company for many years because they thought the company would protect them. But today, many employees feel disposable. Companies are cutting workers to save money. Some companies are replacing workers with technology.
Others are downsizing because of the economy. And sadly, many hardworking people are paying the price. Social media has full stories from workers saying, "I gave everything to this company, yet many of them were still let go without warning." Some workers say they trained their replacement before getting fired. Some say they worked overtime for years and were still laid off. That's why so many people feel angry and disappointed because workers are tired of feeling like numbers instead of human beings. A lot of employees today are burnt out. People are stressed, anxious, emotionally drained. Many workers no longer feel motivated because they're scared uh their job could disappear at any moment.
And honestly, the fear is becoming very common. They worry about company meetings. They fear hearing the words, "We need to talk." That's not a healthy way to live. And because of this, many people are changing their priorities.
Workers are now trying to build other sources of income. People started businesses, others creating YouTube channels, selling online, and learning new skills because workers understand something very important now. Depending on one paycheck can be very risky. That does not mean jobs are bad, but people are realizing they need a backup. At the same time, companies also need understand something very important.
Workers are not robots. Employees have families, dreams, mental health issues, financial responsibilities. When someone loses a job, it affects their entire life. And many workers simply want respect. People want to feel appreciated, protected, and valued. But today, many workers feel replaceable.
That is why trust between employees and companies is becoming weaker. Now, should people stop working hard? No.
Hard work is still very important, but people should also work smart. Save money when possible, learn new skills, take care of your mental health, and try to build something for yourself over time because the world is changing very fast. And the third the third reality is many good workers are still getting fired. In the end, people are not just tired physically, but emotionally tired, too. Tired of giving everything and feeling unappreciated. Tired of stress, tired of uncertainty. And honestly, many workers just want stability and peace.
But I want to hear from you. Do you think hard work still pays off today? Or do companies no longer care about loyal companies? Comment your thoughts down below. Thank you so much for watching.
Bye.
