>> [music] >> On open ground, a giraffe runs at full speed while a pride pursues. [music] One lion waits ahead and leaps to grab it, but the giraffe delivers a timely kick that sends the predator flying >> [music] >> and escapes successfully.
Two male lions are feeding on a zebra carcass across the green savanna and a flock of vultures suddenly arrive to disrupt their meal. The lions quickly drag their prey away while the vultures refuse to give up, attempting to crowd in, but retreating under the lions' threats.
A pride of lions walking through the forest encounters a crocodile resting nearby.
A lioness approaches, but is startled when the crocodile lunges in warning, forcing her to step back. The dominant male intervenes to defend her.
Yet, after a tense struggle, the lions realize the crocodile is no easy opponent and quietly withdraw.
>> [music] >> A defiant hippo marches toward a resting [music] pride, provoking them.
Though the lions rise to confront it, the hippo stands its ground until a sudden leap from a lion finally drives it away.
>> [music] >> Along a riverbank, a lost elephant calf runs into a pride of lions and is attacked.
>> [music] >> The lions surround the calf, and one climbs onto its back and bites down hard. While the calf, in pain, tries to hold steady and find a way out. With so many lions, it has nowhere to run until it is driven to the river's edge.
And [music] only then does it escape the relentless pursuit.
The calf makes it safely across the river, then turns back and chases the lions away as a warning, asserting its strength. [music] A giraffe accidentally wanders into an area where a pride of lions is resting.
It stands still and scans the surroundings, [music] but suddenly a lioness charges from behind and attacks, sending the giraffe into panic. The giraffe tries to fight back, kicking hard at the pride, but another lioness quickly jumps onto its back and bites into its neck.
Within moments, the giraffe collapses and becomes a meal for the lions.
>> [music] >> A lioness strays into hyena territory and seeing an isolated intruder, the clan has no intention of letting her pass.
They surround her and threaten her.
But the king of beasts [music] arrives in time, breaking the siege and driving the hyenas [music] away.
An aging lioness struggles to fend off an entire pack of wild dogs just to reach a water hole.
Though older, she roars, charges repeatedly until the pack eventually withdraws, leaving her in control of the water.
As nightfall a confrontation breaks out between a lion and a leopard. [music] The lion climbs the tree trying to catch the leopard, but the leopard's climbing skill carries it higher onto a top branch >> [music] >> while the lion struggles below.
Realizing it cannot climb far enough to reach its rival, the lion gives up and carefully [music] works its way down as the leopard watches from above.
A group of male lions attempts to hunt a herd of powerful bulls. Expecting an easy takedown, >> [music] >> they instead face fierce resistance and barely escape.
>> [snorts] >> Beneath a rocky cliff, a lion carefully navigates a narrow path above the river.
A crocodile lunges twice unsuccessfully, but on the third attempt, it seizes the lion and drags it into the water with no chance of escape.
Beneath the blazing [music] savanna sky, lions, the ultimate symbol of dominance, do not only confront prey, but also engage in brutal battles with with their own kind.
When two males clash over territory or leadership of a pride, thunderous roars tear through the air as claws and fangs collide.
Every strike and counter strike is suffocatingly intense, where only the strongest can remain standing.
In that deadly instant, the savanna [music] seems to fall silent for a dramatic and ruthless duel.
Beside a river, a pack of wild dogs is devouring their prey when they suddenly sense something and become alert.
Without warning, the entire [laughter] pack scatters into the river, abandoning the carcass as a massive lion approaches and seizes the meal for itself.
Chased by a lion, a nyala plunges [music] into a lake only to encounter a crocodile with no safe path forward it scrambles back to shore and narrowly escapes the lion in a breathtaking moment.
As a pride [music] feeds a clan of hyenas surrounds them waiting for a chance to steal a share and after chaotic moments they managed to secure part of the buffalo carcass only for a male lion to appear out of nowhere and charge [music] sending the entire clan fleeing in panic.
A lion charges in relentless pursuit [music] matching every sharp turn of the fleeing gazelle in a breathless chase yet at the crucial moment the gazelle accelerates [music] beyond reach forcing the lion to miss its opportunity.
A pride of lions corners a massive Nile crocodile in a marsh where it cannot return to deep waters.
Despite the crocodiles huge bites and defense the pride will not be successful.
A lion leaps onto its back and clamps down on its neck exhausting the reptile until it is finally brought down.
>> [music] >> Hidden in the brush a male lion waits in silence preparing to attack its prey and directly [music] ahead an oryx looks straight toward the predator without realizing the danger closing in.
>> A pride spots a monitor lizard crossing the grass and [music] quickly surrounds it.
The lizard lashes its tail in defense.
The lions keep closing in and circling.
In the end, their overwhelming strength allows them to subdue the small intruder.
>> [music] >> In the dry bed of the Humfulosi River, a lion hunted a male nyala, >> [music] >> quietly closing in through sand and brush before suddenly accelerating into a chase.
