[00:00:00]How do we make sure that landlords are actually following the law when it comes to the requirement that they provide renters a habitable home to live in?

[00:00:07]Well, one key change that we can make to our laws is to heavily incentivize landlords to not violate habitability protections. And here's what that would look like in practice. So, let's say you're a tenant and the landlord isn't fixing the broken AC. Well, if they're refusing to fix that within less than a week, the tenant in that situation should be able to file a case in here in Las Vegas and be in front of a judge in less than a week. And at that hearing, the landlord needs to answer as to why they have not remedied that habitability issue. And if they don't, then orders need to be issued right then and there at that hearing requiring the landlord to fix it and also imposing a financial penalty on the landlord for not providing a habitable home. It's those kinds of incentives that are going to be necessary to hold these landlords and too many of them, these corporate landlords, to account and to make sure they follow the law. We're done with these corporate landlords using their superior financial resources to not follow the law and to not provide tenants with a habitable home to live in. So again, I'm Tony Smith.
