A Millennial’s Guide to Hot Girl Summer - Ep. 21Added:
Hello and welcome back to the podcast and welcome to the last episode of the season. I >> cannot believe we're already at that time.
>> I know, >> but it has flown by. We are looking forward to the summer >> and that's going to kind of be the theme of this week's episode. We have double the shady stories at the end for you guys. double the fun. And also quick updates because Mother's Day just happened.
>> It sure did.
>> Which is This is my second Mother's Day.
>> It is.
>> Which >> How was it?
>> It was great.
>> It was a lot of fun. I think last Mother's Day was also fun. I was obviously very excited to celebrate my first Mother's Day, but Elliot was a little too little.
>> He was fresh to do anything really. So this year we went golfing with him and it was his first time golfing. Well, obviously he didn't golf, but >> first time on the course >> and it was so much fun.
>> He was chill as always.
>> Chillst baby in the world. Really?
>> Yeah, we had a lot of fun. We We only did nine holes.
But truthfully, for myself, I was all set.
>> Nine is just the perfect number for me.
>> I agree. I get like hangry, honestly.
>> I do. by 9:00 I'm ready for a nice meal.
You know, >> that's how he felt. It was nap time after 900. So, >> got home real quick and did that. But also, speaking of first, we also just did his first haircut ever.
>> You sure did.
>> Which was so wild. I feel like everybody makes that out to be like a huge milestone.
>> How did it feel?
>> Which in a sense it was, but I wasn't as emotional as I thought I would be. And maybe it's because it didn't feel like a super real haircut cuz he he was like tiny.
>> He had a couple straggle bangs that like trimmed up. But I wasn't as emotional as I thought it would. Maybe if he would have succeeded in dropping the hair on the floor that we were saving >> because he almost did that.
>> Then I might have gotten emotional >> not having the hair.
>> Not having the hair. But >> that would have been tough. We got the hair in a bag secured and that was that.
>> Haircut. So many milestones for him.
>> So many. Um and yeah, lots of fun things. But I figured we're going to the summer.
>> We sure are.
>> It is kind of probably going to be a lot of firsts for him too this summer.
>> Oh my gosh.
>> Um lots of milestones because now he's bigger. We're going to be outside more.
He's going to be walking pretty soon.
Any day now.
>> Any day. Literally, he has the strongest stance.
>> I literally looked it out. He keeps faking me out and I looked it up, but it said that some kids just would rather be feel more secure before they start walk like cuz he could definitely do it. He has the strength. He has the motor skills. I was just telling Britney, he climbs up his playset.
>> It's insane.
>> And tries to go down the slide head first. So like he can do all that, but he just refuses to walk without holding on to things. And I'm like, "Sir, you are so close." But anyways, so with that being said, we will be doing lots of things this summer, but I figured >> sure will >> me and Britney will share some things we will and won't be doing this summer >> because the summer opens up a lot of opportunities to do things.
>> It's a time for fun. It's, you know, I feel like it's one of the best seasons.
I was going to say the best season, but >> I'm partial to fall, so it's the leadup to fall.
>> Agreed. Agreed. Lots of activities to be had, but things I won't be doing. Okay, we need to get into this because this was first on my list and honestly might have been what inspired this entire topic. I will not be finishing Euphoria season 3. And how many episodes did you personally make it through, if any?
>> Two.
>> Two. That's impressive.
>> Made it through two. Truthfully, it was an argument in my household. I'll be honest.
>> Was it really?
>> Yes. Because Evan doesn't see the Tik Tok discourse beforehand. You know, he's not each episode.
>> So, he's not fully aware of >> what's being said online, what we have to potentially look forward to if we do decide to watch. So, before we even started the season, it was an argument because I'm like, "Dude, people are saying it's not good. People are saying this, whatever."
>> And like he was just like, "Okay." But fully not convinced cuz he's like, "Where are you hearing this?" Because >> why does he think you're hearing it?
>> Exact. Well, he's >> Where else do we get it?
>> He's like, "Tik Tok knows everything.
Like, it could be good." So, whatever.
um you know he's not one of >> a crazy thing to say Tik Tok it knows a lot >> right but we are of the mind that anything we see on Tik Tok is real true >> and correct he doesn't feel that way so we did watch two episodes and >> then he understood what I was saying and what the discourse was >> connected for him >> and now we were I was even like okay let's just catch up because we missed like a couple seasons and truthfully >> I am so flabbergasted that like part of me wants to just see like how could it get worse but I just refuse that bad.
>> Yeah. But I just refuse now cuz like this stuff I'm seeing about the next episodes. I'm like I don't need to subject my time to that when I have >> I only get a set amount of time to watch TV and I'm not going to spend it trying to watch something just to be like >> I can't believe this jaw on the floor.
>> And you could really do what I'm doing and watching the storyline play out on TikTok. I got a couple creators that are pretty reliable with, you know, >> Sunday night, they will share the updates of what happened in that week's episode. So, I know at any given point in time what's going on. Okay, but here's the thing. I fear at this point, and this happens with a lot of stuff because Evan doesn't see that stuff and because I still kind of get the satisfaction of knowing what happens next >> on TikTok. Like, I don't have to watch it. I'll see those and I'll be like, "Ugh, okay. I'm all set."
>> I get the confirmation I need that I don't need to continue.
>> He doesn't have the confirmation he needs. But he'll just have to take my word for it.
>> No. No. He should just >> which he should because we're about to celebrate our second year of marriage, >> which is I don't know where the time's gone.
>> Same. It just feels like everything I we just said in the last 5 minutes of recording this, I'm like, "Wow, a lot of milestones are occurring right now."
>> Mhm. Um, but yeah, we're about to be married for two years and apparently the second year anniversary is cotton.
>> Cotton?
>> Yeah.
>> So, what are you you thinking of any cotton related gifts?
>> No. Well, I basically ruined the gift that he got today because I started looking things up and one of the suggestions was like cotton robes, like matching really nice robes.
>> And I was like, "Oh, wow. I think Evan would actually like like this because we don't have anything like this.
And I tell him, I'm like, "Hey, what would you think about this for our anniversary gift?" And he's like, "What?
Who told you what?" Like couldn't believe that because fathom that >> couldn't fathom that we all had the same idea, right? So >> anyways, that's what we are doing for that.
>> But big exciting um another milestone.
Let's get back to our list though because I fear we just tangent.
>> No, I'm saying like our list of things we won't be doing this summer. Because truly, here's the thing. When we planned this episode and I said like, "Let's just do things we will and won't be doing this summer." We're like, "Well, is that enough to talk about?" Like, cuz we're not updating everyone. What's going on tangent?
>> But I fear I am just hitting the point.
>> Chatty Kathy. Um, okay. Another thing I won't be doing, wearing shorts. And I don't care. I understand that it's summer. I understand it's going to be 95 degrees at some point, >> but I just won't do it. Like, every time I put on a short, I'm just uncomfortable. I don't know how to sit.
>> I am as well. And you would think shorts should be comfortable, you know? They're almost some of them even like mini sweatpants, you know? Not jeans.
>> Never jeans. I don't I don't really mess with long jeans, jean shorts, jean skirts, maybe a jean jacket, but just shorts in general, not my cup of tea. You know what I prefer?
Nice athletic dress. That's my go. I still don't love it. Like, I'm not a big legs out person.
>> That's fair.
>> And I just shorts for some reason are not it for me. No biker shorts.
>> Nope. Unless the shirt is so large that you can't even see the shorts.
>> And that's a question I guess I have for you cuz you are objectively more stylish than I am.
>> Oh, thank you.
>> You're welcome. Um, >> that's probably the closest thing you've ever said.
>> Probably. Are we still doing biker shorts with like a graphic t-shirt and like tennis shoes and like that's a look or is it like dated now? Because I feel like this discourse comes up every year and then the comments of the Tik Toks are typically like we wear what we want to wear. We wear what we like. We don't follow trends. You know what I mean?
>> Yeah. I feel like now what I see more of and especially like the younger generation is more like the Pilates core of like biker shorts where if you wear a biker short, you wear like one of those tie sweaters with it.
>> I have a tie sweater. Um, but personally I still do an oversized >> t-shirt. I don't do graphic TE's really.
Yeah, >> I just feel like plain t-shirt, >> just a big t-shirt and that's >> I can get behind that >> cuz I feel like that I do opt to go to that like I try to wear that in the summer. Like I can remember doing that last summer and I'm like this maybe not look in style the way I'm wearing it.
But you know what else is big right now?
>> That I just don't think I can wear and I might try once and regret it.
>> Capri.
>> Capri.
>> I love the look of capri right now and I didn't think I would.
>> I love it on Haley Bieber. I love it on Kendall Jenner.
>> Yeah.
>> But they've got the legs.
>> They got the supermodel legs.
>> Yes. And unfortunately >> we don't have the supermodel legs because we are um 5 foot >> shorter and a couple inches.
>> Oh, chill. Chill. You got a couple inches on me, but >> yeah, >> some of us are five foot over here. And >> I don't know, >> you're exposing me. I think my Google thing says I'm 55 or something, which I think I I'm like almost profile.
>> I don't know what it is, but one time I looked it and it said that.
>> It always says I'm skinnier and taller.
So, I'm not going to correct the rumors.
>> Let's see what it says.
>> Whatever it says must be true.
>> Haley Jade. Oh, there you are. 30 years old.
>> They got one thing, right?
>> Bro, you're never going to guess what they have your height as.
>> 5'8.
>> Yeah, >> I think I've seen that.
>> That's crazy.
>> Let's leave it to that. That's exactly >> I'm never trusting Google overviews of any human ever again, >> Bernie. That's exactly what I am. If it's online, it must be true.
Okay. Another thing I will not be doing this summer, and I hate to say this, maybe I'll regret this, I will not be going out if the event starts after 8:30 p.m.
>> I mean, I don't know why anyone would leave their house.
>> I just feel that there are times where like a good example of this I feel is like a movie. Like me and Evan sometimes >> go to a movie that late. No, but like we'll want to do a date night and we'll be like it'd be so good to go to the movies cuz you can't really go when you have a kid. So like what's one thing we want to do on a date night?
>> Go to the movies. For some >> reason unbeknownst to me, the movies either start at like 6:30 or 11:00 p.m.
I feel like there's just no and it's so frustrating. But I'm just we're not doing it anymore. We've tried and I've literally been at the movies like >> No, you need to go to day movies. Me and Brian love an early movie. Like I will go as early as like 9 10:00 a.m.
depending on when the movies open on the weekends. So maybe a nice day date day.
>> What do they call that? Isn't that >> It's a matinea.
>> A matinea.
>> And it's cheaper, too. Get good deals on tickets. I something about like seeing a whole movie and it's like 12:30 when you leave and you're like, "Wow, I still have like >> the whole day ahead of >> the whole day to do whatever." You can get lunch after. And even if you're feeling crazy, you could pick up some coffee on the way, sneak that in.
It's a nice nice ordeal. It's my preference when going to the movies. And that will be something maybe I'll go to a drive-in movie this summer. Today's episode is brought to you by Cozy Earth.
You guys already know I love Cozy Earth, especially their sheets, but lately I've been equally obsessed with their loungewear and honestly just the whole idea behind their brand. Their whole thing is making your 5 to9, the time when you're actually at home living your real life, feel as comfortable as possible. And I feel like as a mom especially, those little moments at home are so much more important now. I've talked about before how everyone has the one outfit that they constantly end up wearing, even if it wasn't intentional.
Like the thing you automatically reach for after laundry day because nothing else compares. That's exactly how their brush bamboo jogger sets feel. They're super lightweight and breathable, made from viscous from bamboo, and somehow soft in a way that actually gets better over time instead of worse. They're comfortable enough to sleep in, but still look put together enough that if someone stops by or you need to run out quickly, you don't feel completely sloppy. And to complete your cozy at home, but can actually take with you outfit, there's their Lakehouse clogs.
They've got this really cushioned, supportive footed, soft on the inside, easy to just slip on, and they still look cute enough to wear outside to grab coffee, go to the farmers market, or whatever. I also appreciate that Cozy Earth focuses on quality. It doesn't feel like trendy, fast homeware that you'll replace in 6 months. It feels like pieces that you'll keep reaching for long term. And they back everything with a 30-day return policy, plus a lifetime warranty, which honestly says a lot about how confident they are in their products. This spring, give yourself the kind of comfort that lives with you all day, not just the moment you get home. Head to cozyear.com and use my code shady for an exclusive 20% off. That's code shady for an exclusive 20% off. And if you see a post-purchase survey, mention that you heard about Cozy Earth right here. Comfort lives here. Thank you to Cozy Earth for sponsoring today's episode. Did you see that? I'm pretty sure it's like in China or something. They're developing a car that project the headlights project movies.
>> That's sick.
>> So, you could just like have your own drive-in.
>> I would love that. I would sit in my I don't know if I would actually sit in my car like in front of my >> Every once in a while, like imagine that. Imagine you want to go to a movie or you want to go to a drive-in, but it doesn't start until >> 11:00 p.m. So, you just like do it in your driveway and put it on.
>> No, it could be fun. I feel like you have a good setup here for it. Yeah, I feel Or you go to a freaking parking lot or park. Yeah. And just do it and then maybe the whole people will join in, dude.
>> But honestly, imagine that, too. I mean, I guess I was going to say I guess if you lived in a sub, people probably do like neighborhood watch parties.
>> I mean, that would be so fun. That's half You know what they do at Disney? I don't know if you know this. Had to bring it up. ever at majority of the resorts most nights they do projector movies like each night like on the lawn or by the pool and I it's just so fun.
>> I think those are fun and I mean yeah I guess if you don't have the car do it with a projector I was going to say that but I wasn't going to steal the vibe.
>> No it's okay. I get the I get it. But anyways it'd still be cool cuz it's like a drive-in but your own drivein.
>> Yes, I understand. Um, another thing I won't be doing.
>> I will >> this summer. I'm done with I'm done with overpacking >> specifically for myself. Not necessarily Elliot because obviously with him I'm going to pack everything, right?
>> But we have multiple like road trips planned and I have to cut myself off. I I like I don't have a choice because specifically with Elliot stuff like that's a pack and play. That's a A stroller.
>> Stroller. A thing like a huge box of probably toys in case we need to pull something out. And >> snacks. That is all the things.
>> So, I need to limit myself and I'm just I'm putting it out there. I'm done. I'm not overpacking this summer.
>> I am. However, the last trip that I went on, my mom and I went to Florida. I was so proud of myself. Actually, brace yourself for this. So, I packed everything that I thought that I was going to wear and that like I really needed in my small carry-on rolly and then I packed the extra stuff in my big bag. So, I still brought it, but it wasn't it wasn't that heavy. And I only used my stuff that was in the carry-on.
So, I was kind of like proving to myself like I could do this if I wanted. My problem is I just love an option. Like I don't want to feel committed to my outfit. What if I feel bloated?
>> And I fully I know I fully understand.
But the way you told me to brace myself, I genuinely thought you were going to say you only brought your carrier.
>> Oh my gosh, you would have >> and I would have had to sit down for this. I mean, I would >> shocking news.
>> Really, think about how well I know you.
But hearing that you brought a specific large checkin bag just for options, >> options, >> we're back to reality >> in like toiletries cuz like my curling irons and stuff like I'll put one in my carry >> truly. That's what stops me every time if I'm flying of just bringing the carry-on because one I'm not getting travel size stuff of all my makeup. Like I'm not doing I'm not buying everything stuff is sometimes it's more expensive than like the full size. I swear >> I would just rather not have to do that.
So I'm going to check a bag cuz I'm not going to go through it all. And then I do feel I will say I feel like TSA is pretty good about makeup stuff. Like not knock.
Well, cuz most makeup isn't over the limit for the liquid fluid ounce per container.
>> No, but setting spray always is or like >> Yeah, >> there's always certain things that are and I'm like, dude, I'm not going to >> Or it's like aerosol cuz my setting spray is like an aerosol can.
>> That's true for you.
>> So, that has to go.
>> Very serious setting spray.
>> Very, very serious.
>> Another thing I won't be doing is pretending I'm okay with skipping nap time. Tell me more.
>> I just feel like this comes up a lot and especially with people who Well, like >> who tells you this?
>> Nobody says like you have to, but it's just a conversation like me and Evan even will waver in our stance because like if something comes up and we really don't want we're like, "Well, we could we could push it this or we could make it work here." And it just never works out that way. We always end up just like regretting it later. It's 7:30. Uh Elliot screaming for 30 minutes just cuz he's over tired and I'm like I just I'm not doing it anymore and mostly for myself like I need to tell this to myself cuz >> things will come up and I'm like >> well we don't want to miss this and like >> you know he's not going to know the difference or whatever of 10. No, he knows.
>> No, kids are actually >> his little biological clock.
>> Love a routine.
>> Yeah, it's we're just not doing it. Mhm.
>> Um, some things I will be doing on a positive note, I will be finishing season one of We Were Liars, and that will probably be happening really soon.
And I'm I fear I'm very behind.
>> Should I watch it?
>> Um, yes, but you won't >> because it's more of like it's like a little bit dark.
>> I'm out.
>> Yeah.
>> I I sit in my camp of competition reality shows.
>> You really do.
>> We got Survivor Right Now, Dancing with the Stars in the Fall. I don't think I watch any in the summer. I mean, Love Island, but that's on Tik Tok.
>> Yeah, >> that's not Tik Tok, but in >> That's where I tune in to Love Island is on Tik Tok.
>> Ridiculous. Um, also I will be figuring out how to get Elliot to sleep through the night. Um, this goes back to the nap time thing.
We are struggling in this household. And maybe it is my fault, maybe it's not my fault, but the hours I'm spending in the chair holding him in his room at night are outweighing the number that I am in my own bed sleeping at night.
>> Not not good. That is a problem. I I tried to tell him today.
>> We did have a talk. I regularly do talk with them about it.
>> Chat like Elliot, have you ever thought about >> You should hear me in the middle of the night when I go in there. Hey bud, have you thought about I don't know sleeping?
>> Um, >> he doesn't know how good he has it right now.
>> No, I know. But that's why I never I still don't understand the saying sleep like a baby. Like >> babies don't sleep.
>> Which baby? Um, yeah. So, we will be tackling that at some point. And here's the thing, like I've seen it all.
>> I've looked it all up.
>> And it's just it's so much easier to read than do. And so, but I'm telling myself like this has to happen for my own sanity. And thankfully, I do have Evan who takes over in the morning really early and lets me sleep for like two solid hours, no care in the world.
>> Those restore me somehow hanging on by a thread. But it restores me >> doing amazing >> and he saves me with doing that. But and here's the thing with that. Like yes, he sometimes he'll get up and help too, but we can't both be sh like >> Yeah.
>> at the same time. Like >> Yeah.
>> We have to each make a sacrifice. Mine's at night. His is in the morning. That's our plan right now. But it's happening.
It's happening this summer.
>> Yeah. No, he will.
>> Also, another thing I will be doing.
>> We need to start having bonfires again.
>> Invite me over.
>> We just don't do it anymore. We haven't done it in years.
>> No, honestly. We were in a good rhythm of summer. Like there were a couple years ago we were really doing summers right and this will get kind of into maybe you know some of the other points here as well but we were embracing the outdoors.
One of which activities was the bonfire.
I swear we had one every other week.
>> No literally we were having bonfires regularly and inviting friends over just to sit around the bonfire and listen to music.
>> So fun. So fun. So summer.
>> Yeah.
>> We just haven't done it in so long. And I we have to do it this summer.
>> No, we're we're having like a true summer vibe this summer.
>> I agree. And potentially with the baby monitor on Max Valley.
>> Yes, absolutely. Of course.
>> But >> maybe he'll be up. Maybe he'll experience some of them.
>> Yeah. Bonfire.
>> I will be going on a walk outside every single day. That's a true commitment. I can commit to maybe twice a week.
>> Oh, we already pretty much do.
>> Yeah.
>> Every single day >> when it's nice out. I mean, like we've had some some sketchy weather lately.
>> Yeah. There's got to be a little cold.
So, we got to be realistic. But every single day >> today, >> this morning when I went up to go work out, >> freezing warning. Do I need a winter jacket?
>> No thanks.
>> Yeah. Well, if that's happening, we won't be on a walk. But every other time we will be we will be doing patio drinks.
>> Absolutely. We will. I can't tell you. I mean, I guess it's been winter. I was going to say I couldn't tell you the last time I had a drink on a patio.
>> Honestly, same. Even when it has been like nice, we haven't really done it, but >> you know, use the good weather days to their full potential just yet, but we'll get there.
>> Correct. Also, by the way, a side note in the bonus content, this reminded me because there's a little um this or that on this situation. We are doing a game and the bonus content summer edition this or that. One of them is about patio drinks.
>> Oh. Oh.
>> Um, >> do some people not like patio drinks?
>> No, it's more specific about what we want to drink on the patio.
>> Okay. I have a vision.
>> Thank you. Um, we will be leaving functions early and feeling amazing about it.
>> Period.
>> I wish goodbye.
>> I love an Irish goodbye. I love being in bed before 1000 p.m. So, when I'm saying we're having a really summer vibe summer, I mean from like the hours of like >> 8 to 10.
>> Yeah, those are my good hours of the day.
>> Totally fine with that.
>> Anything before, anything after, I want to be at home and that's just that.
>> Agree. I probably will be at home because with a sleeping child usually.
>> Yeah, I'll come here.
>> Our friends do have to make the journey.
>> I like it here. Um, Britney says she will be enjoying her Sundays.
>> I sure will be.
>> I I fear you already do that.
>> I do. I really do. I just feel like I haven't recently, so I just wanted to remind myself.
>> Okay, good. I want to be going, you know, we have some nice lakes by us and we have some really good restaurants on the water. Why am I not going to them on Sundays? I feel like I didn't go to a single one last summer. So this is kind of like a mix of like drinks on the patio, you know. I guess that's the only one that's correlates to. But you know >> that we that was another thing we used to do a couple summers ago. Lot of >> I feel like we would go to the water.
Yeah. And have drinks on the water.
>> It was a regular thing in my mind. And then I look back and we probably did it like >> three times.
>> Yeah. Three times. But it felt regular.
I mean that's like once a month and for like adults to be going out to a function once a month like >> it's pretty rare that >> it's very regular.
>> Do it.
>> You also say >> Oh yeah, this was I already like took this back.
>> You were already getting ambitious.
>> I said when when we were planning this that I was going to watch Love Island in real time, but I didn't say where it would be on TikTok. But no, I I did I do love the idea of like watching live with the rest of America every night. But we'll see how we >> What is it even on?
>> Peacock.
>> Oh, see that I think that's why I haven't I don't know if I have Maybe you're signed in on my house.
>> Uh maybe if Peacock's listening. No, I'm not. But >> Oh, >> but yeah, I am signed in at your house.
Yeah, you should have my account.
>> Okay.
>> I definitely sent it to you. I think I sent it to you specifically to watch >> Love Island. You wanted me to watch?
>> Yes. I wanted you to watch two seasons ago when Rob was on and >> Yeah.
>> Yeah. No, that was best. Um even though the internet says we need to stop comparing other seasons to that season.
Was it season six?
>> I think um such >> Yeah. Um >> did you I don't think you ever watched it.
>> I never watched it. No, it was good.
>> Maybe some other time. Um, but that kind of leads us to some summer 2026 predictions. Maybe we can rapid fire these because we do need to read these shady stories.
>> Sure do.
>> Um, they're pretty good.
>> Okay. My >> Should we do like yay or nay to these?
>> Yeah. Like what do we think of these predictions? Do we think Taylor and Travis are going to be married this summer?
>> Yes.
>> Yay.
>> Yay.
>> I agree. Do we think Zoe Kravitz and Harry Styles are going to elope? Y I think they will too. I think with like all the talk around their engagement, I feel like they're just going to be annoyed and be like, "Let's just go."
>> Yeah, I can see it now.
>> Um then Dea and Tom Holland secretly have a baby.
>> I think they will and I think we'll hear rumblings of it, but we'll never actually know. Just like we don't actually know if like >> they're married. That's how I feel. I feel like it's going to happen or maybe it already happened. It could honestly it could have and we will I I think we quite literally like this child will get to like the age of like >> 10.
>> You think 10 before like they're like found out?
>> Maybe like five. But they're not going to put their like this baby could live in secret forever.
>> No, literally forever.
>> And I think that's what's going to happen.
>> You know what? I can respect that.
>> Um I think Justin Bieber and Haley Bieber will announce another baby.
>> I hope so. That would be exciting for them. I think maybe Kylie and Timmy announce a baby.
>> I would also love that together.
>> I could just see that happening. I feel like already there's a lot of talk of like they've been together way longer than people like thought because everybody was like this is for PR or whatever and they're already been together for longer than that.
>> Yeah, they've been together like they're like what is it? Six years longer than >> five six years.
>> No. Oh, why did I think it was that long?
Four years.
I feel like it's it's been a a minute.
January 2023.
>> Three years.
>> Okay.
>> I mean, that's actually a little longer than I thought.
>> Really?
>> You were thinking like double that, but either way, I feel like I could I could see them not even get like not getting engaged, not getting married, but just having a baby, like announcing a baby.
Yeah.
>> Um I feel like Sabrina Carpenter is going to announce a new relationship at some point.
>> I feel like she might already be in a new relationship like secretly. I get that vibe >> announces this summer. I think Hulu is going to greenlight like a Secret Lives of Mormon husbands >> and it's not going to go well.
>> It's not going to go well. But like I think they're going to try.
>> Yeah, >> they might. And I don't I don't think we need I don't even think we need We've already talked about this. I don't think we need the spin-off in LA. I think it's too early to be spinning it off like that. I mean, >> I think they just are I don't know. What are they? They're not on Bravo. There's on Hulu. I think they're trying to trying to create their own little Bravo universe of moms in different cities.
Agreed. I feel like I guess we'll see what happens, but I just could see them doing that. But those were the predictions for summer 2026.
Now, let's get into the Shady Stories.
Starting with Shady Story number one.
Hi guys, longtime listener of your podcast. You guys got me through my 30-inute commute to college. Anyways, I've been with my boyfriend for about 10 years now and his parents have never liked me. They've never said it to my face or never said anything mean to my face, but they have told him multiple times that they don't like me, that I'm tearing their family apart, just random stuff that doesn't make sense. I try to hang out with them, go to family functions, help out, wash the dishes, stuff like that. There's a lot of lore behind them, a lot of issues that we've had, but nothing's ever been said to my face. Just my boyfriend. When we told them we wanted to get engaged, his dad freaked out and said it was a mistake and that we're too young or 23 and we didn't know what we were doing. He's also encouraged my boyfriend to go out and meet other women. Recently, my boyfriend moved out of the country and I went to go visit him. When his parents found out that I went to go visit him, they were so mad they told him that they never wanted to see him again, that he was ungrateful that they never want to talk to him and basically just said goodbye to him. Another person in his family called him and said that I was tearing their family apart and I'm the reason the family has so many issues.
And that hurt me deeply because this person was somebody who my boyfriend and I supported through having a bad time in their life. My boyfriend hasn't talked to any of his family members since this happened. And they basically act like he doesn't exist. They're shady and everybody knows they're shady, but they never think they're shady. Mind you, they literally disowned their son just because I went to go visit him before they could. I'll keep you guys updated on the situation. Hopefully, no more shade is thrown.
>> That's insane.
>> I feel that this is potentially giving boy mom energy.
>> No, it is.
>> I hate to say it.
>> The problem does not lie with you. It lies within that family, >> right? Here's the thing I will say, and I feel like this is kind of something we've said before, like 23 obviously seems young.
>> Yeah.
>> I feel like parents still at this point aren't fully >> accepted of the fact that their kids are like adults making their own decision.
Yeah. Like making their own decisions, living out on their own. It's like hard for them to let go. And that's still pretty close to like when you probably were living at home or, >> you know, still >> with them. So, I feel like >> they probably still feel like, you know, some kind of connection to that and like not letting go of their kid being able to make their own decisions.
>> But the fact that the the kids living out of the country >> Yeah.
>> So, at this point, like grown enough to do that, >> grown enough to make their own decisions. And truly the part that I could not fathom was the dad saying, "Oh yeah, you need to go out and meet other women." Crazy.
>> I feel like parents do that sometimes.
>> No, they do.
>> Like I feel like this is in movies. This is in things like where before >> to me in real life >> before kids go to college. They're like, "You shouldn't have a boyfriend or girlfriend. You should go explore and you should do this. Dump them."
>> No, Haley. This happened in my face with my exboyfriend and their dad. Their dad was actively telling I feel like I've told this story on the podcast before, but maybe I haven't. I can remember vividly. I I don't know. I must have been at my ex-boyfriend's house. The dad was there and he they had just like the parents had just gotten back from I don't know they were at like a local dive bar slash restaurant like sports bar situation and they were saying how one of the other like couples they were with like oh their daughter so and so came and oh my gosh to like the guy I was with at the time she's so pretty she came there with like no makeup on her hair was just in a ponytail like you have to meet her like like have I not told do this story.
>> I don't.
>> It was the craziest thing I ever experienced. Like I was literally sitting right there and I'm like why are you like being like you need to meet this girl and like it really felt like a >> you trying to set them up when I'm literally >> I'm really right here. It felt like also an extra dig at me because at the time it was like probably around 2016ish when like I wore winged eyeliner. I mean, I wasn't like I was never like super aggressive like with a cut crease every day, but like I >> Everybody in 2016 was like we were doing too much with the makeup >> and I still wear >> it was like with a wing like to this day and I'd wear my hair curled. Like I just like to feel put together and I was like, is this a dick at me? Because like I only come over here really like >> all dull.
>> Yeah. wearing makeup, my hair, like I'm sure not every day, but most days I it's stuck with me. So, >> yeah, I feel like it's such a toxic thing, but I feel Well, also I think too because I a lot of I feel like f boys truthfully, that's just what I mean.
when they're going to college and they don't want to be like in a committed relationship, but they don't want the person to move on to be like, >> "Well, we should just like explore our options and we're going to college and I just don't want anything to tie me down."
>> Literally, >> it's like, "Okay, >> bye >> bye." Um, but yeah, that's messed up.
>> Keep us updated.
>> Next season, >> we will revisit this.
>> We will see where we're at. Shady story number two. Mommy advice/story.
Don't forget the innocent white lies you tell your kids. We moved into a new place when my daughter had just turned five. She had never really seen doors stoppers before. You know, the little spring ones that the cats and the children love to play with. When she asked me what they were, I innocently said I innocently isn't I innocently said cat toys, not thinking it would stick with her. A couple years later, she's seven now and begging for cat for a cat, but our landlord doesn't allow cats. So, she goes, "Why do we have all these cat toys around our house if we can't even have a cat here?" Silly me. I forgot that I had even told her that.
So, she spent the next few months chewing me up for telling her something that wasn't true. That's hilarious. It's so funny to me because I I don't know why this reminded me of this, but it's one of those things where kids take everything so literally.
>> No, they do.
>> I said this on the podcast before, but maybe not. That like our art teacher used to say like, "Close your mouth, open your ears, whatever." Like when she was >> and I took it so literally. I thought like we had to close our mouths so we weren't inhaling the fumes of the paint.
>> Like I that's how >> you wanted to follow all the instructions to the teeth.
>> Yes. And I think like this reminded me of that like >> like you can't just like I don't know exist with your mouth like open it all.
It has to be >> I genuinely thought like while we were in that room our mouth had to be closed because >> she was saving us from >> we were going to inhale the fumes or something.
>> Hilarious. Oh man. But >> no, kids really do. It's >> Kids hold on to everything and they take it very seriously.
>> They sure do.
>> Shady story number three. So, my gut was telling me there was something going on with my husband and his woman pastor.
Well, the gut don't lie. I caught them trying to go to a dinner on a Friday night on his birthday weekend. He told me he didn't want to do anything. They were surprised to see me. She got out of the car and blocked me from all social media and her phone. Oh, and she was in the middle of a divorce. My husband needed the weekend to pray on our marriage and then asked me for a divorce, but there was nothing going on with them. Shady AF.
>> Not the pastor.
>> When I read this, I was like, "Come on, >> do better."
>> Truthfully, I just don't see how this is going to go over in the church. Like, this woman will no longer be a pastor.
>> No, everybody's going to know. Everybody is gonna know that's too good of a story to not go around like >> just insanely.
>> Oh man.
>> My gosh.
>> Shady story number four. God >> God bless.
>> God bless it for real. Shady Shady story number four. Back in my CMU days, I signed up for a class that was only offered at 8 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Important detail. I didn't even party. I was just naturally not built for functioning functioning before noon. Three weeks in, I looked at my professor dead in the eyes and I told him that I started kidney dialysis every Monday and went every Monday and wouldn't be able to attend the class in person. Then every Wednesday, I'd show up wearing a band-aid on my arm for proof. Not my finest ethical moment, but I successfully avoided every Monday class that semester. And honestly, that level of commitment deserves an A+.
Well, you better also have gotten an A+ in the class after all that.
>> Yeah.
>> I cannot believe this. What was even more is that this is CMU, which is obviously like in Michigan. So, I'm like, we have to read this. This is insane.
>> This is my alma mater.
>> Exactly. This is where Britt went. And >> what class were we skipping at Mondays and Wednesdays?
>> It had to be. It better have been so so serious and important detail. I didn't party. So, like what?
>> I know it's not an excuse.
>> Shocking.
>> I once had a class that was only offered like 8 a.m.'s It might have been even Monday, Wednesday, Friday. It was a budgeting class. I only had to take a few math classes in my day and that was my last of them. Did not enjoy going to that. Thursdays was a big night out at CMU.
>> We had a couple classes that were 8 a.m.
and it pained me deeply. But >> yeah, >> I feel like after you get through elementary, middle, and high school, and you have to do it every single day, >> you deserve a break.
>> In my mind, though, I'm like, "Okay, I can handle this."
>> That's what every twice a week.
>> Every freshman thinks >> I'm just going to do an early class cuz I'm already used to that. Different in college. In college, you're staying up way late. Honestly, it's crazy to think about like going from summer to like school year in college. It was like I wouldn't stay up that late when I was home for the summer. Maybe on the weekends, but I had to like retrain my body to like stay up late throughout the week. Yeah. Cuz that was just like how it went.
Well, apparently for this person, even though they were not doing whatever you were up to, Britney >> me. I had a great time at CMU.
>> Oh man, I'm sure you did.
>> We don't talk about that enough. We should do an episode in season five about college stories.
>> Good lord. Um, okay. Shady. Shady story number five. There's a guy who's notorious in my area. Also, Metro Detroit for extra tea. He's a cheater, liar, and the worst. His exes and I started a group chat. Then we made a fake account on Tinder and matched with him, made a date with him, but instead we all showed up. He was pale as a ghost when we saw him and he told straight to his face that he cheated on all of us and that he should be banned from dating apps. He ran so fast it was hilarious.
Real life John was that is I swear like top three like >> early 2000s movies for us.
>> Yes, I agree.
>> I'm going to put it on tonight. I swear.
Doing this in real life is so iconic though.
>> No, it is. Especially that's in Metro Detroit. Like I want to know like would you >> next time invite us though?
>> Please invite us. I would love to see this play out.
>> I would love I I want more info. Like I'm I'm actually invested.
>> Low key respond with the name.
>> Yeah, please. I want to look them up on Instagram.
>> We'll find them.
>> Like see if we have like any mutual >> mutuals. Yeah.
>> So good. Oh, this is me next. Shady story number five. I'm not Oh, six. I'm not used to double the shady stories.
>> Double the fun.
>> Normally, I just read one. Um, my husband and I have been lying to our family about how long we dated basically our whole relationship. Even my sister doesn't know. We were childhood best friends and he married his high school sweetheart after college. They got divorced 2 and 1/2 years later and we got married about 9 months after his divorce was finalized. But we only dated for a grand total of six weeks and then got engaged and moved in together. Our parents think we were dating during the separation because they would literally murder us if they knew how fast we moved. We just knew.
I thought it was going to be the opposite. I thought that they were going to say like, "Oh, we were actually together while they were getting separated or like why they got divorced."
>> Yeah. I thought it was going to be like the reason for the divorce and it was like, "Oh, we can't let anyone know that like we were together when he was with," you know, >> right? And truthfully, I feel like this isn't as bad as that. Like this is fine as long as you guys make it longer than they made it.
>> Yes. True. You have >> like you have to stay married.
>> You have a benchmark, unfortunately.
>> And once you pass that, you're in the clear.
>> Yeah. Then, you know, do whatever you want. If you need to get divorced at that point, >> then you're in the clear.
>> Statistically, you know, you're fine.
Um, but I thought that was funny.
>> That is >> Okay, that concludes the last episode of the season.
>> Season four.
>> Season four.
>> Done.
>> If you guys want a little more, you can join us on the Patreon bonus content.
But if not, we'll see you guys next season.
>> Bye everyone. Hi.
