[00:00:04]Hello everyone, welcome to teacher Julie channel. For today's lesson, we are going to discuss all about science 7 term one, week six and lesson four, which is all about components of a solution.

[00:00:23]For the objectives, the learners shall make an accurate measurements using standard units for physical quantity and organize the collected data when carrying out a scientific investigation and be able to identify the role of the solute and solvent in a solution.

[00:00:48]For activity number one, the learners will identify and write down the measurement of each of the following substances or material.

[00:03:45][snorts] Now let us define what is solute. So a solute is the substance that dissolves in a solvent to form a solution. It is usually present in smaller amount than the solvent.

[00:04:02]On the other hand, solvent is the substance that dissolves the solute. It is usually present in a larger amount.

[00:04:14]When we talk about solution, it is a uniform mixture formed when a solute is dissolved in a solvent. The mixtures appears as one paste. You can see the solute and the solvent separately.

[00:04:31]Now let's differentiate soluble from insoluble.

[00:04:36]A substance is soluble if it can dissolve in a particular solvent.

[00:04:42]Example for this is the salt. Salt is soluble in water.

[00:04:49]On the other hand, insoluble, a substance is insoluble if it does not dissolve in particular solvent. For example, is the sand. Sand is soluble in water.

[00:05:06]For the explicitation, the learners will read a story and sing a song entitled Rain, Rain, Go Away.
