Exploring Beautiful Seville, then Cruising back Downriver, onboard Azamara Quest April 2026Added:
Welcome to Seville and the third video from our Azamara 9 Spain intensive cruise.
In this video, we spend the day walking around and exploring the beautiful city of Seville.
And the next day, we depart and cruise the long journey back down the Great Career to the sea.
Then we enjoy dinner, a few drinks, and a silent disco.
I was up early and took the short walk up to the top deck to watch the sunrise over Seville on this beautiful April morning.
Then I met up with Suz and we went for breakfast in Discovery's main dining room, which was very nice and was followed by an Americano from Mosaic Cafe.
Then we got off the ship headed out past the tiny cruise terminal and through the port area.
Our plan today was to walk through the parks to the Plaza de Espa, which was about a 20-minute walk from the ship and then have a wander in the city center.
We started at the park we'd walked out to last night and enjoyed a really pleasant walk in the morning sun.
Heat. Heat.
Along the way, we saw a lot of parakeetses, which are pretty common here, but not so common up in Scotland where we live. So, we took some photos.
We crossed the road into another park and continued on.
And we paused at this pond for a look at some early ducklings.
The park and the weather were beautiful and so far we were really enjoying our day in Seville.
We were then passed by the first of many fancy horsedrawn carriages we'd see today that were taking part in a seasonal festival.
Then we got our first look at the very grand and impressive Plaza de Espania which was built in 1928 for the 1929 Aberro American Exposition and has since been sympathetically restored.
We spent a while wandering around here, admiring some of the architecture.
and the art.
Watching the horse show and taking some selfies.
We decided to move on.
And after consulting one of the many local tourist information signs we made our way into and through yet another beautiful park.
Then we took a wander through the city streets which were rapidly filling with football supporters for a big cup game that was happening tonight.
Seville has some wonderful buildings, including the breathtaking Cathedral of St. area of the Sea which apparently is the largest Gothic cathedral in the world.
We kept wandering and exploring as the heat and the football crowds continued to increase.
And eventually we stopped for a very refreshing gelato.
Then decided to take a slow walk back to the ship.
We're tracing our steps through the beautiful shaded parks.
before too long. We were back in the port area where there's an underpass to get back to the cruise terminal.
Then through security in what is the smallest cruise terminal we've seen before heading back on board the Quest.
We went up to the patio grill for lunch where I had a tasty bratwurst and Suz had an aamara burger.
Then we had a soak in the lovely cool pool before lying in the shade and enjoying a top shelf margarita.
We got ourselves some frozen yogurt and went back down to our cabin where we showered and changed for the evening before going up to the living room for a glass of champagne.
where we enjoyed a lively early set from one of the ship's bands.
We then went down to Discovery's restaurant for dinner, which again was really tasty.
And tonight we stopped for a post and a cocktail in Discovery's Bar, which is right outside the restaurant.
before moving along to the den where we had a night cap, then an early night.
Next morning, I was up early.
I went up to the gym for a bit of a workout.
It's not a big gym, but has all the basics and was pretty quiet the times I was in here.
Although the yoga and relaxation classes seemed very well attended.
I went back to our cabin in time to watch the sail away from Seivil Cruiseport.
We'd really enjoyed our time here and we'll hopefully be back in the future.
It was breakfast time and today we went up to the buffet where we got a seat out on the rear deck with a very pleasant breakfast and watched as we sailed out through the city.
And a little later we arrived back at the port of Seville lock.
whereby we watched as the roadway behind us was lowered back down.
Then the one at the front was raised up and the gates opened so we could pass through.
We knew the trip down the Gretle Cavier would take most of the day, so we got ourselves a couple of lounges up on the sund deck.
I popped down to our cabin to get a couple of bits and while I was there, heard the ship's horn blowing and open the curtains to see the Hanziatic Nature cruise ship passing by.
So took a couple of pictures up on deck.
We watched the scenery, the wildlife, and the boats passing on this narrow section of the river.
Then we settled down to soak up some of the morning sunshine.
And as we traveled downstream, we passed by tributaries joining the main river.
And each of these would widen it a little as we headed towards the sea.
By midm morning, we were getting thirsty, so I popped down two decks to the pool bar and got us a nice refreshing drink, which really hit the spot.
Hey, hey, hey.
Eventually, we'd had enough sun and we had another drink in the shade.
Then went for lunch at the patio grill on the pool deck.
I helped myself to a toasty salad.
Then I had an Azamara burger and Suz had a lamb burger which she really enjoyed and we headed through to the gelato station in the buffet to get some dessert.
Zeus had chocolate raspberry gelato and I had a delicious papaya sorbet.
which we enjoyed on our balcony.
Midafter afternoon, we went up to the pool for a swim and a cocktail.
We didn't film much up here as it was pretty busy.
Eventually we were back at the salt flats.
Then passing by some lovely looking beaches and coastal towns where plenty of people were out enjoying the glorious weather.
And then we were out of the muddy river and heading back out to sea.
We went to the den on deck 5 for a pre-dinner drink.
We started out with a glass of the house champagne.
Then I switched to red wine. and Sue stayed with the champagne.
In Discovery's restaurant, we got a table with a great view out over the ship's wake.
Got our usual wine and bread basket.
Then enjoyed another tasty meal.
After dinner, we went up to the living room where we enjoyed a couple of drinks and a great set from East Pearl, who are one of the ship's bands.
We went down to watch tonight's show.
It was an illusionist of sorts.
Then back up to the living room where we got a snack from their small buffet.
Then collected some headphones and enjoyed the silent disco which was great fun.
We'd really enjoyed our past couple of days on this cruise.
Thanks for watching. Tomorrow we're in Malaga.
