AI data centers require significant water for cooling systems, with Meta's Los Lunas facility in New Mexico consuming approximately 75 million gallons annually from the Rio Grande River, contributing to environmental concerns in drought-prone regions where agriculture already consumes 85% of available water resources.

Meta Data Center Did It?Añadido:
There is no water nearby. AI data centers are consuming massive amounts of water to keep their systems cool. Well, that's not good if it is true.
>> All right, folks. I'm currently standing in the Rio Grand River right now. This is what it looks like right here. All dirt.
All dirt.
You're looking at an environmental catastrophe. What this is, the new meta data center in Los Lunas, New Mexico takes 75 million gallons per year to cool down the data center. And this is what we're left.
>> We definitely need to investigate why do they need so much water? Because I have very conflicting opinions. Scientist's side of the argument often says that AI data centers actually do not consume that much water at all. On the other side, people who live in the neighborhoods say stuff like this. I wonder what is the truth >> with another data center is being built in El Paso right now. A Facebook Meta data center. How much more water is that going to take? This is going to be folks, this is apocalyptic. This is I've never seen a river like this. By this time of the year, it's you couldn't even swim in this. It would take you under the the uh undercurrent would take you out. This is unbelievable. No more water. So, what does that mean for the farmland, the ranch lands, the cattle, the houses? I mean, are they soon going to start moving people out of this area?
Are they going to start moving people out of here?
>> Wait, if the water is gone, what is happening with the data center? I mean, if they were taking so much water from the river that it is completely dry now, then where do they take the water now? I mean, it's still working, isn't it? Hm.
Hm. Hm.
>> The what? 15-minute cities. You're not going to be able to survive out here.
What's going to happen to the agriculture?
Folks, what we're looking at here is unprecedented. We've never seen anything like this before. I'm sounding the alarm bells. This has never before happened.
I've never seen it like this. Bone dry.
Bone dry. All of it.
Unbelievable. Uh, better write your congressman because these these politicians are as corrupt as they come.
All getting paid off for this. So, what does this mean? We're going to trade out humanity for AI so they can track and trace you better. And who's bringing this in? Well, it looks like to me Trump is taking down the deep state, right?
He's going after Obama. He's going after everybody, but he's replacing it with AI with AI data centers, ruining the environment.
>> This used to be a gushing river. It's gone.
If we don't do something now, folks, humanity is screwed. I'm telling you that right now. We are screwed.
>> Okay, here's the river. Aluker. Is it the one from Breaking Bad? Rio Grande.
Okay. So, the river goes somewhere here. Los Luna facility. Is it Is that it? Meta Facebook data center.
Okay. So, here's the data center. Here's the facility. I still have a big question on how do they operate now if they there is no more water. It's a bit sus for me. So, usually it looks like this. Let's look at the latest newest comments. A month ago, five stars. Okay.
No, there is no newest comments. Yeah, the last comment is from a month ago.
Not even a comment. I do not think we can get a lot more information here, but usually it looks something like something like this. Oh, it's actually very nice. This one, this was in 2020.
Here is the data center. Doesn't have the best score. Let's see. Maybe there is some other maybe there are some other people who live there. This is Rio Grande in New Mexico. It's currently completely dry. Ma's data center in Los Lunas in central New Mexico is using 75 million gallons of water per year from the Rio Grande water. But they are not the only data center using Rio Grande water. There is many more. The river is dry for a few reasons. Extremely low snow back this winter. Record low reservoir levels. Agriculture uses 85% of water use from the Rio Grande in New Mexico. H. And then data centers. The exact number actively drawing from it right now is not fully public due to limited transparency on water rights.
From this morning in Albuker, a little water here, but super low. It was not this low even a month ago. The Rio Grande was already running dry from decades of overuse and drought. Data centers aren't helping. But let's not ignore the 800B gorilla. We used to pull 75 million gallons in about 6 hours on a cycle power plant I worked in. Coal plants I worked in pull more. 75 million is ant peace inside a city water tower.
It's nothing. I'm not going to have an opinion here. Let the people who actually live in the neighborhoods with AI data centers decide if water usage is a problem. I do not live near data centers or maybe I do. I don't really know. But we definitely do not have water problem here. We actually have the opposite problem, especially during the typhoon
