The Nigerian government banned history teaching for 15 years to prevent students from learning about the Boko Haram blockade, which killed between 1-3 million people in 30 months—10-15 times more than the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki—yet this genocide remains largely unknown globally, highlighting how historical education suppression can prevent collective memory and accountability for atrocities.

Why The Nigerian Government Banned The Teaching Of History By Mike ArnoldAdded:
Hi everyone, welcome back to my channel.
So I want to give you update based on what Mariano said the reason why Nigerian government banned history teaching of history in the school and some of us know this like that you don't learn anything about Nigerian history in schools and um from primary to secondary school not anything meaningful just basic things like they will tell you about fodio they will tell you about the you know colonization they will talk about uh uh Margaret somehow Park and women this kind of thing that doesn't have much things to say about Nigeria then we focus on that those ones but as we're growing up we begin to question why you know begin to see reasons why they actually not talking about it because of Nigerian France civil war of course that is not what they called it but the truth of the matter is not even Nigerian war. This is a genocidal war and my cannot throw more light on that. So we are going to go through his post and I would like us to go through it together while we do the comparison on the impact what that has damaged and what has done to our people the contribution of that war and why Nigerian government are bragging about it. Because most time we don't realize that the reason why Bafan did not win the war is not because of any other thing but it's because of war crime committed by Nigerian states and is now clear and I'm happy that people are now paying attention to that gradually not the way it's supposed to be yet but at least let it start from somewhere. So please do me a favor. Make sure you like the video and subscribe to the channel. Let us know what you think about if this is all about. Maybe you have something to say about it. The comment section is open.
So you are highly welcome to put your mind and just pour your mind there. All right.
So we are going to touchlight everything the way it's supposed to be. We are going to do that just a moment.
So having said that we are going to start by reading out the the message himself according to Mike Anard what he said based on that this is write up a post made by Mike Anard many of you know him I don't think I needed I need to introduce him to you so but if you don't know him please he is an American um should I a philanthropist or an activist because he what he's doing now in Nigeria is honestly God's work you know he doesn't have anything to gain like um he's not doing that because of something because of his investment in Nigeria or because he won Nigerian government award him a contract no but he's doing that for humanity and he's doing that with sincerity if he for now but if he has if he does anything like change I will still let But for now, the man is saying the truth and he's doing all he can to call the attention of the world to the genocide being carried out against Christians in in the entire Nigeria. So he's not alone. Many other voices are there, but his own is quite unique. He's not he's not afraid of anything. He's not saying that because he want to benefit anything, but he cares for human for humanity. of course the human life that are being used or being lost daily by jihadist recently he called out so caliphate he's doing that not because he hate anybody but you understand that these are the people that are actually perpetrating the crime and those that are have their interest there are doing all they can to keep this country going the way it is going like in the same trajectory because he's going to help them to achieve whatever they want to achieve. So he's not doing that to achieve anything. So the post he made here, he actually detailed it, you know, the way it's supposed to be. But it's not a very lengthy work, but it has a lot of meaning, more meaningful than many other lengthy work, if you understand what I mean by that. So please pay attention while we go through that. Like I said, please like the video, subscribe to the channel. If you're new, do me a favor.
Do the need for support us as you can and subscribe to this particular channel. It's not going to cost you anything. Please. So help us on that as we move forward. Now I have to remind you of something.
Okay. I have to remind you that um we are not here to cause any problem or we don't pro or we are or we neither are we here to to promote any crime or anything as such. Far from it. What we do here is to remind our people where we come from and what we supposed to do for us to be focused and do what supposed to do. That's all. We don't promote killing. We don't promote violence. We are not calling for war. We are actually doing what they're doing just for education purpose. Now Mos said this. This is why the Nigerian government banned the teaching of history for 15 years. This is why they only started it now under a curriculum under the curriculum written by literally Bokh Haram's top scholars.
This is important history. This is important history. Not only for those who were victimized but for all of Nigerian and the world. It must be known. He said now this particular history he said that no matter whether you are from the tribe that has been victimized or you are not you need to know this is for general for public consumption. All right. Then he said here in the third month because he said this is a paragraph for a piece that I am working on meaning that he's still working on a maybe um should I say history book maybe history book about Nigeria he's know one thing I love about him is that he's a very good researcher he knows what he's doing right for now because he's a human being I don't want tomorrow if he changes somebody will a car but he told us he's um he's a very good person he's not he can't lie please I'm just telling you based on the current circumstances based on what you have done so far anything is possible so don't quote me on that I have to tell you the truth but for now he represent the truth he represent the light now let's continue so he just made it known to you that there's a you know there's some work there's some work that he's is doing um maybe a history book. I'm just I'm just trying to guess it because of the the piece that he's stretched out from the from the work according to him. Now, here is here is the the main message. He said in in 30 in 30 months the caliphate blocked in 30 months the caliphate blocked killed between one and 3 million million people in a population of 14 millions.
I think I've got more than 14 million.
So let me just saying one is said one in five difference at the at the accepted figure.
One in five difference at the accepted figure. A kill a key rate compi compared to Cambodia exceeded in modern history only by wonder. The automatic bombs dropped on Hiro Hiroshima that is Japan.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The most the most moral debated military action in history.
The most morally debated history. A morally debated military action in history. Memorized in UNCCSO that I think United Nation Esco I believe site visited by millions where this happened. Site visited by millions.
killed approximately appro approximately 200,000 people 200,000 only but lost to nearly 3 million for more than 3 million the Bafra blockade killed 10 10th or 15 times as many h but the world pay attention to what happened in Japan or people okay military historians measure the horror of war by in his ratio of civilians to combat to combatant deaths.
Like they measure the they measure the ratio of they measure the war the horror of the war the historian measure the horror of of of war by it ratio of civilians to combatant that's people that are fighting soldiers.
The first teaching war considered extreme ran 10 civilian killed for every every fighter.
Jaffan ran 100 to one. Can you imagine for for every federal soldier who died approximately 100 reference die almost all of them children. Like for one soldier, one federal army or army, for one federal army, for one to die from the camp of Nigeria, you can equate it with 100 people dying from our side because of the blockade. Not through bone, bar of bars of gun is about is because of the blockade. And this blockade is deliberate. We all know that that blockade is a war crime. Okay? You know when you talk about people defin losing number of people like that it's not about it's not people they buy by by shooting gun or throwing bomb it's about blockade when you check the history please I start to be corrected I was told by somebody who happened to be one of the soldier he's no longer here now he has died but he told us he he not only me he told us back then you know that Um you know children die like flies and um even the soldiers who were very hungry sometimes they even inject them for them not to be for them not to feel hungry for days you know and what what the this the right saying here saying here that one soldier going down is it being measured or equate to hundred of people buying from the side of Bafra and both these people are mostly all mostly all of them all of them are children mostly all of them children it was not a war it was not a war it was a extermination by starvation just like I told you that they didn't these people did not buy people or those ones that died didn't die because of the bomb because of b of gun or something like that it actually a stamination by starvation which is more generous than this. You can see the world built museums for Hiroshima. It it forgot baffan existed and the machine that did it never stopped.
The machine could be a human being.
Those that behind this killing is they actually have more access to oil from our region than ever. And everybody turn blind eyes to all those things. Each time I read this kind of thing or come across a video that detailed what happened like this, I felt so weak and so bad. Not because I'm so eager to revenge but I'm so I'm so sad because that which ped people to this level are still living with us and most of us are are not living to the expectation. We are not most of us are not actually doing anything to learn from what happened in the past. What are we doing differently? What are we doing now for this kind of thing not to happen again?
Rather we are doing nothing. Rather we are actually giving them more excuses.
The reason they need to do it more some reason that they don't have in the past has has been handed over to them by our people. It doesn't mean that some of us don't know that in ancient days in olden days you we do everything to make sure that this kind of you know inhuman treatment this kind of attack this kind of mistake will not recall again recently in this modern age in this present time what are we doing to make sure that this kind of thing will not repeat again I don't see Only few of us are doing something about it. But the attack and the sabotage coming to that anybody that have something to do not to revenge but avert this kind of thing from happening again. Because when you say we need our freedom, we need to move. we need to stay away from this kind of thing is actually a good reason because when you come to think of it no tribe no nation in this world we pass through what pass through and still have people you know yapping oh we need to you need to stay one you know together and all that nonsense. Yeah, taking away history from Nigerian curriculum is not has paid Nigerians handsomely because it has helped them to to deceive or block our people, our youth from knowing the truth. Only those who can now have time to read and write will understand this. So to be honest with you, one thing our people need to establish now is a class. a class where we be teaching our people maybe online class so can volunteer themselves to teach this history to Ebos in EU language or maybe in English language repeatedly and this class if I know the history to the level of teaching it to you I will create that class on stand because it is very clear that our people have more time spend more time on social media than anywhere now bringing this kind of history that people in a manner by which people will not see it as calling for war or is getting violence but for knowledge sake do you know that most of our youth are not doing know what they're doing like the attitude that they're displaying come from this lack of awareness you know what if you have anybody that know this history very very that can teach us literature people about the history. Please connect me to the person I will use my platform as little as it is to start creating. You know why? Not because I want that people to to start thinking crazy. What I just want to know is that because that will help you. You know when you see your brother you know that this is this mine. This is where I belong. This is who I am. Not by sabotaging people by selling people out.
Most of them know nothing about the history. And for you not because the history is not being told the fake history has been created and that is what you know spreading like a Wi-Fi. I want gen people, sensible people who understand, who have the accurate history to come up and let our people, the young one, even the elderly one who may not know to actually, you know, encrypt himself or herself with this basic knowledge with this fact and figure so that knowing this then what whenever you want to make a decision, it will be as very very fast as possible and it will be as accurate as expected.
Please let me know what you think about it. God bless you and make sure you like the video. Thank you so much. Make sure you subscribe to this channel. See you again. Bye-bye for now.
