Kampalaโs flooded streets are a textbook example of how inadequate infrastructure fails to respect the laws of gravity in hilly terrains. This footage serves as a raw indictment of urban planning that ignores environmental reality.

Kampala City streets on a rainy day ๐ง | Drainage system MishapAdded:
Hello. Hi, beautiful people. Thank you for tuning in today. Sheila here. We are just seeing the Kampala drainage system.
Eh? You see that rain? This heavy heavy rain? This is when we know these are the times when we know if we have roads or if we have drainage or something else.
Eh? So, anyway, I am going to be driving all the way up to Mulago and the rain is heavy, as you can see. And uh we're going to be seeing the water the water in the streets, the water all over the sides, the water here, the water there.
And you guys assured me, you told me that since we got Badiru Mwenda, so Badiru Mwenda is an engineer, he's going to get all these roads and he's going to engineer them. Now you see, we've already started. You told me he's going to get all these roads and the drainage system and he's going to engineer them.
He's going to make things right. Mm-mm.
Hey, me I will laugh at you.
By the way, um let's move on. Let's check out what is going on. This is Gaba Road. We do have videos of Gaba Roads, many many of them on the channel. Uh in case you'd like to see how it looks like when it's not raining, uh please check them out. If you go straight forward, that would take you to Nsambya, then the Kampala flyover, then Kampala City. Yeah? But uh we are taking the right and this is Muyenga Road. This road that we are on, this one this one is Muyenga. But guys, do you see how serious the rain is? Eh?
Hey!
Uh I'm not even going to be telling you we have a new building on the left and on the right because clearly you cannot see the new buildings, but we are here to look at what happens when it rains in Kampala. Eh? The road situation, the drainage situation. That is it. That is the goal for Hey guys, this rain was heavy. Mm? Are you seeing?
Me I told you we are going together every Actually, I was dropping somebody. So, I was dropping somebody in Mulago. Video is going to go Yusuf Lule. You're going to see rivers and lakes and everything there. Yusuf Lule, then we go up there across across through Mulago. Mulago road Mulago is also on a hill. Actually, now you see look at this. Now this is Muyenga Hill. Muyenga Hill is up there. All this is coming from Muyenga Hill.
Some of you guys were asking, but all of this water there is a video I posted of the rain downtown. And then you guys were like, but all of this water where does it come from? I know everyone is blaming harm, but this water this water.
Guys, we have many hills in Kampala.
We have very very many hills in Kampala.
And of course you know the water is going to come from uphill coming downhill.
Now this is Mbogo Road. Mhm.
But Kampala downtown is in a valley people. Kampala downtown is in a valley that is why they call it downtown because it is not uptown. So, all that water that comes from Nakasero. The water that comes from Nakasero Hill and whichever hill is there around around it comes all the way. You know what I'm talking about. Nakasero CPS up there in the sorry court. All that water comes down down down through City Square and then uh down mapera and then ends up down there.
I'm thinking anyway, but we have many hills. So, I'm thinking it's only logical that the water from all the hills comes down to the low level areas. You know what I mean. Uh-huh. So, guys we have a lot of water. Let's go you're going to see what we are going to find in the way. In the way on the way wherever you see the sides of the road people. You see the sides of the road. I don't know what they are going to do. I don't know what has to be done. I do not know what needs to be done, but clearly something has to be done. Eh?
So, let's wait for the mayor. You guys have a lot of hope in the mayor. Let's wait for that mayor, but mayor, I will laugh at you because we've seen these things over and over.
Someone shows very, very great potential like unbelievable potential and then they get into power and then now you see that bill that they did not want to sign that sovereignty bill.
Sovereignty bill became that sovereignty bill. Nobody wanted to sign anything and then one, two, three here, they signed the bill. I had over over some money passed around and over 100 million passed around something something.
That's the money I also just heard.
>> [laughter] >> Anyway, >> [snorts] >> this is what is going on. The cars are very, very few. If the If your car is low and the rain is much, much like this, just stay at home. Do not even dare. Don't even risk it because the rain is going to take your car for nothing.
Now here we are sloping down here. This is where Greenhill is somewhere on the left here. For those of you who know the bearing, we are in Chibuli. If you have your bearings right in the heads, yes, I know it's raining heavily, but you know what is going on. On the left, that is Greenhill Academy. Then on the right is the is the parking for Greenhill Academy.
But you see it. And now also Chibuli is a hill. You're going to see what is going on down there on 8th Street because you see Look at this, guys. Look at this.
Oh God, Kampala is such a mess. I know uh some people are commenting saying even in other countries it floods.
Wololo ya ye. Yes, it floods. It floods everywhere. It floods in other countries, even in rich people's countries, but today we are in Kampala and I am showing you Kampala. I'm not saying Kampala is any worse than whatever or Kampala is any any. Tuli Kampala. These are our roads in Kampala when it rains. And now here the rain was not even that serious. You know, usually have that rain that comes from from around 3:00 a.m. in the morning. You know, when you're sleeping and guys, you see.
Guys, you see. That is like River Nile.
>> [gasps] >> This is me saying there is that rain that starts at around 3:00 a.m.
2:00 a.m., 3:00 a.m. there there when you're sleeping and you hear it's that one. And then it goes on till morning.
And then it goes on till midday. Now, that one usually takes people's houses.
This was a lot, but not that that much.
But look at this, guys. Eh?
See the sides? The sides, the drainage is full. Mhm? I I think maybe they need to double the drainage or something. So, this is 8th Street. Uh this is 8th Street and this is what is going on.
They've just constructed this road meanwhile. I think this is why these roads are newly constructed and then they become bad again. Because first of all, the drainage is nasty. And then the water logs in the middle of the road.
And then the tarmac softens. And guys, this is 8th Street, guys. I've shown you 8th Street on a nice bright sunny day.
But now you see what is happening. See the sides? Look at the drainage. You see the sides? Drainage is full. And then of course, someone else mentioned that, you know, people are not responsible with the rubbish and all that. The polythene bags, you know. Guys, you see.
You see.
>> [laughter] [gasps] >> You know, the polythene bags and then the plastics and then all those things, they they just go into the drainage and then they clog the drainage.
And then we have problems like these ones. You see what is going on?
So, now this road is down down.
And we have water coming from Chewbuli.
Chewbuli Hill up there.
The Chewbuli slums slums there. The Chewbuli Green Hill.
Hey, come with me. Let's go. We have more water. We have more water. Just come. I am taking you. Today we have caught the drainage red-handed.
The people who are supposed to make this right should drive through the city when it is raining like this. They will know where to touch. They will know what to do. They will know how to improve.
Generally, they will know what to do.
But those things of seeing the roads during day and the the sun is all bright and all that. Uh-uh. You cannot get that clear picture. Hey, we're going to get out the the protractors and the triangles. You guys, wait. The set The set had a protractor and okay, a ruler, a protractor, and there was that triangle. There was a long one and then a short short one. And then we had a compass and a divider. Eh, Manange. Guys, who who is using those things in real life? Unless you're those people who draw the buildings.
Those people who draw the buildings, you know what I'm saying? Those people who draw the plans, they use those things in real life. But now as as as as protractor, divider, hm. Manja tugende.
So, this is access road, guys, and look at what is going on here. The water is accessing. Eh? This is access road, but the water is accessing. You can barely see any building. Do you see? If you look straight forward, eh? The clouds are coming down. The sky is falling down. So, guys, you see these things for the train. They don't work. You see those barriers, those ones that say stop. They do not work. In case you watched a video yesterday of the train knocking the Sino truck and then uh the Sino truck pouring things on a government car.
Those things don't work. If the train is coming in Uganda, if it's coming and passing, it just hoots. If you do not hear the train hooting, wamanya ebyo byebyo. Those things that are supposed to stop the the cars that, you know, don't cross they don't work. But now, how much do you think would cost to make those things work?
Now, let's let's just think small small.
How much do you think the government needs because already the train is not like the train is moving all over the country. You know what I mean. It is just moving once. Compare it to Namanve to Mukono.
Now, how much money do you think it is going to cost to make those things work again?
I I don't think it will even be more than Okay, the highest, let's say 200 million, of which that is really really high, yeah?
And then, have you heard the budget for swearing in?
>> [laughter] >> You guys are about to ask me the color of drone that that that is that is going to pick me, eh?
But anyway, this is access road.
And this is what is going on, people.
This is our drainage.
We do have a lot of things that are going wrong that can be made right with not a lot of money. And this a lot of money is going elsewhere.
Guys, you see that See see that water in the street. You see that street crossing through. That is That is Jinja Road. We are at the traffic lights of Jinja Road.
Are you seeing people's cars? If your car is small again, be like a just go.
The Passo Do you guys know Passo?
Do you guys know Passo? No, guys, let me tell you something. Actually, the the Passo is among the smallest cars in Uganda, like small small small in size, yeah?
But guys, you see how small a Passo is, eh?
Buying a new Passo, you need more than 20 million to buy a new Passo. I am going to keep on getting examples of this 20 million thing until you understand what I'm saying. Eh?
Buying a new Passo, you need more than 20 million. You're not going As small as it is, it is among the smallest cars that we have in Kampala. You need more than 20 million to buy a new one. So, now I think I think you see where I'm going. Eh? And we've talked about these things. First, see this water banana.
Eh?
You see You see this water. Look at this. Look at what is going on here. Eh?
Don't you see me with my swimming costume? Don't you think next time I should just come with a swimming costume and dive IN THE I SHOULD COME WITH A SWIMMING COSTUME AND dive in the water because mhm Look at this. Eh?
But anyway, now this is also down down.
So, the water is coming from up. We have many hills. The water comes from the hills and then it just covers the whole town. Now, in Boise, imagine if the Kampala streets are like this. The ones that are tarmacked, the ones with proper drainage. Imagine what is going on in Boise. Eh? Anyway, guys, I've not forgotten. I was selling about 20 million. 20 million, if you do not have where to [snorts] stay. Eh? If you do not have another business that is going on for you in Kampala and you're planning to collect your salary, Bambi.
Eh? If I see here. Eh?
Chichichinobanak.
Guys, are you seeing?
Eh?
What is this?
Chinochik. Eh eh eh.
What what? You see.
Atanongachilibovingo.
Now, this eh eh eh >> [laughter] >> Guys, back to the Mulama. I am not leaving the Mulama. If you're planning on collecting your salary to come back with 20 million, thinking it's going to be enough for your livelihood.
Yes, it could be enough, but in the life of suffering, you are going to be living in a life of suffering. By suffering, I mean suffering, and I'm not even joking.
Eh?
>> [laughter] [gasps] >> But see that new building there, guys?
Look at that.
It is big. It is huge. It is massive. It is You see? Look at that. Eh? I'm not sure what it's going to be, but I'll find out pretty soon, and I'll let you know.
Okay, guys, eyes back down on the road.
I know we we've all been looking at the new building, but look at this. Eh?
Do you see?
Eh?
And now, there is the other road that goes down the golf course. On the right, that is the golf course, because this is Yusuf Lule Road now. Mhm? On the right there there there, that is the golf course. There is that rough road, the Acacia Babbiha Avenue, that one that one. Mama Nnyabo, if it rains, you stay away from it. Just stay away. Because if you dare go down there, remember it has this cabro that is like a valley. If you go down there, your car is going to stop, and they'll just come with a breakdown, and a breakdown will take you away.
Guys, you see?
Yusuf Lule Yusuf Lule and up there is Nakasero Hill. Now, this is what I was saying, all the water comes from the hills. And you know, Kampala is the city of hills. We have many hills going on.
And this drainage, I think they just need to double. Because somebody commented in the previous rain video, and they were like, "When when it stops raining, all the water disappears." Yes, that is right. When it stops raining like this, give it a few minutes, all the water will be gone. But now, when it's raining, that is where the issue comes from. Mhm?
When it's raining, the the the water is much more than the drainage system can handle. When it stops, oh my god, everything is okay. It all disappears like as if the rain even never happened.
Now they mama, what they need to double them, what they need to do what?
Honestly, I don't know. Now you see what is going on here. Look at this.
You see.
You see.
>> [laughter] >> We have caught the drainage system red-handed.
Look at this.
See the water coming FROM UP.
>> [laughter] >> ANYWAY, THIS IS OUR CITY.
This is our beloved city and this is what is happening. This is what is going on Banage. By the way, as we walk, as we walk, as we keep on going guys, if you are new here, please subscribe to my channel. If you are returning, thank you for coming back over and over. I do appreciate you. Drop me a comment. Let me know the areas you'd like to see. Let me know what you think should be done about the drainage system of Kampala.
Let me know what you because I know I have some brilliant minds on here. I have about 1,000 people that watch a video every day. To say the least, 1,000 people. I know I have some brilliant minds on here. Let me know what you think we should do for the drainage because you see these things are unacceptable also in the city. Yes, I know it happens everywhere. Yes, I know it is natural calamities, but we can do better. This is not the kind of rain that should be causing such kind of flooding. You know what I'm saying?
The kind of rain that should be causing flooding is like the other rain of OF THE NOAH'S >> [laughter] [gasps] >> HELLO GUYS. UM, LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU think about everything that we've seen today. Let me know what you think should be done to improve the drainage system.
You never know, maybe one of those days someone in charge could be watching and they take on an idea or two, yeah?
>> [snorts] >> Um, please like the video, share the video, drop me a comment. People paying for membership, thank you very much. And everybody at large, thank you very much.
People bringing in jobs, thank you very much. People Eh, eh, guys, just thank you for the support. Mhm? I appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you for the support. Katimunget now, what is this one doing? Eh?
The other side is is is empty. Why isn't he the other side? Eh? Anyway, somewhere there on the right we have the power one, you see? Our our power one, yeah?
That one over there. I've given you a video in in Chuitante, and then we saw that building, and then we went up to Nakasero. Uh-huh, that one over there.
In case you missed it, please check it out.
Um, cars are few on the road because not all cars can move in such rain, if you know what I mean. Eh? You see, cars are not many. This is why we get traffic right after rain. Because when it's raining like this, most cars are parked, you know? They don't want the the water to enter in their cars, and they don't want their cars to break down when no one can help them.
But now, when it finishes raining like this, everyone comes out. Everyone comes out. Everyone comes out. But well, um, the farmers are happy. Whenever the farmers see the rain, they know that the crops are going to get the rain, and they're going to grow. So, um, some people are not happy.
Make money, so that when you come back here, you can buy yourself a car. Again, 20 million is not even going to buy you a person. Are you going to come back and be bitten by rain like this? Eh? Because when you come back and you're going to move on boda boda, you've not planned for your transport. This rain is going to cane you more than I'm going to cane you.
>> [laughter] >> This rain this kind of rain when it finds you on a boda, it is going to cane you more than the canes I'm going to cane you. But all in all guys, you know I'm not saying this out of spite. Me I just wish you the best. If you do not wish the best for yourselves, I do not know what to do for you. But me as me, I wish you the best. I want all my subscribers, all my viewers to be very very gumite. I want them to have um property in their names. And then of course you're seeing you're seeing the people's projects that we are seeing. Uh we went to to Wakiso and then the house was very beautiful and you guys were coming but first see the right over there. Are you seeing the the the lake that we have on the right side of the road? Cars are not even using it anymore.
Hey.
Guys, you're seeing people's projects.
We've seen a very beautiful house in Wakiso just yesterday. All of you guys are like, "Oh my god, beautiful. The compound is amazing." I told you you want to come back here and you do not even have land that is the size of the compound. That is the size of somebody's compound.
I want you. Yes, there are three possessions but you have them. After having them, we will discuss those things of people with possessions do not enter heaven. I hear they it is like a camel in the hole of a needle. Uh-uh, we are going to see that later.
Until then, mhm zembagambe. This rain will cane you MORE THAN THE POJJA TO GENDA. GUYS, WE ARE in Mulago.
We are in Mulago. These are the Mulago traffic lights. Down there down there is Pastor Kayanja's church. But yes, I know it's raining, but I think you understand what is going on. And down there, that is Pastor Kayanja's church.
And then if you continue going, it takes you to Kalere, it takes you to Bwaise.
Now here on the right is the gate of the Mulago mortuary cuz people die every day. Hence be saying when you make some money, make sure you eat some make some eat some. Eh, because people are dying.
Now you see that you see Mulago is a hill. So we have water coming from uphill coming down down this side.
Hey. Anyway guys, um this has been it for today. The video is coming to an end. Thank you for being here. Please like, share, subscribe, drop me a comment. Eh, people guys, I appreciate all the support. And then as always, you guys send me videos when you're watching my videos at home. And then as I keep on saying, you have the nice big screens.
And now you guys have upgraded. You're now sending me curved screens. All along I've been saying I've been seeing very very big flat screens. And now I am seeing curved screens. And now I am What Guys, I'll see you in our next video, yeah? So two videos are there. This is the first video of the day. Watch out for the second video of the day.
Thank you guys for being here. Video is going to stop here. We have Mulago hospital on the right. The whole whole right, Mulago hospital. We stopped somewhere here with the client that I was dropping.
So, I'll see you soon and we'll be catching up in a different part of Kampala, Uganda. Wherever I go, you're coming with me. Kale, be safe, take care of yourselves, make money, obviously.
If it's not on, it is not safe. Be good people, and I'll see you soon, yeah.
Bye-bye. See you.
