The video effectively highlights the dangerous intersection of partisan retaliation and the erosion of First Amendment rights. Rogan’s shift reflects a necessary awakening to the reality that weaponizing the law against political speech threatens the foundational principles of free expression.

Joe Rogan FINALLY REALIZES Trump is FULL OF SH*TAdded:
We're continuing to track the increasing division between Donald Trump and the major MAGA adjacent podcasters like Joe Rogan, Tim Dylan, Andrew Schultz of the Flagrant Podcast, Theo Vaughn, and others who helped sanitize and launder him during the 2024 campaign cycle. And in the case of some, they eventually openly endorsed and supported and voted for him. Joe Rogan's the biggest podcaster in the world, and he's become increasingly critical of the Trump administration once Donald Trump did the eminently predictable thing and started governing like a thin-kinned authoritarian. Well, I've got some updates on this because Rogan has still not disavowed Trump the way that Andrew Schultz has or Tim Dylan has, for example, or Dave Smith, but he is increasingly critical of Trump's authoritarian overreach. And in the examples I want to provide, Rogan blasts Trump for the prosecution of former FBI director James Comey, as well as the Trump administration's efforts to suppress and silence and censor Jimmy Kimmel. But before we unpack all that, if you end up liking this video and you want to support the channel, please be sure to hit the like, subscribe, and alert bells before you go. All right, folks. So, I I want to draw your attention to this. Um, as Mediite reports, quote, "Slippery effing slope.
Rogan torches Trump's DOJ indicting Comey over quote silly post.
Joe Rogan blasted Donald Trump for setting quote a crazy precedent with the recent indictment of former FBI director James Comey over a social media post.
So, with that in mind, let's look at how Rogan reacted to this and then we'll break it down. Because, of course, this is of all the the witch hunts and baseless punitive prosecutions by Trump against his political opponents, this one is arguably the dumbest and that's saying something >> surprising that they're still not releasing it.
>> Here's crazy. No arrests. No, no, no one's like being brought in. Meanwhile, Comey is getting arrested for a photo of seashells that say 8647. He's getting arrested for that.
>> Yeah. What's 86?
>> What's 8647?
>> 86 get rid of >> 47.
>> But you could say kill. But 86 is if you get fired, what happened to Mike? He got 86, right?
>> It doesn't mean you got killed.
>> But this is a crazy thing to arrest someone for.
>> Of course, >> FBI arrested in Virginia, appears briefly in court.
>> Well, they already like had it out for him. They're just looking for any excuse. A cra this is the problem with these guys is it sets a crazy precedent precedent. That's already that's the worst. Like that's crazy.
>> Oh, you went after me. Well, now we're going after you for nothing. It doesn't matter.
>> It's nuts. It's nuts. Like you're going after someone for something that's just silly. 8647 is get rid of 47, >> right?
>> Speech. But it's just like arresting a guy for that is nuts.
>> Come don't play that. Yeah, I mean it's one thing like if you have like a >> So then he goes on to say maybe if the threat were more explicit, but the truth is under Supreme Court president you would have to be pretty damn explicit to justify a criminal prosecution or investigation into you. There's the conservative outlet um I shouldn't say conservative, they are a free speech libertarian group called fire foundation for individual rights and expression and we're going to get to their analysis in just a second. But I guess to close the loop on Rogan's response here because he's obviously outraged, it's number one, it's like, bro, you're 100% right.
You're right. But it's like, what the hell were you expecting? Donald Trump openly in Trump's in 2016 when Trump ran for president the first time and in 2022 when he ran for president a second time.
He was openly campaigning on using the levers of government power to punish his political opponents. Joe Biden didn't do that. Kla Harris didn't do that. Barack Obama didn't do that. Hillary Clinton didn't do that. No Democrats ever done that. No Republican presidential candidates ever done that either until Trump. So it's like he told like this wasn't this wasn't a carefully kept secret. He was telling you in advance like hey if you liked me I'm going to try to screw over my political opponents using the power of federal prosecution and you all didn't either hear it. You either didn't hear it which is staggering given how often and frequently and loudly he said it or you didn't give a damn. Right? Maybe you thought he wouldn't do it. Whatever. But I mean you were just wrong. and liberals and progressives and Democrats and never Trump Republicans. We were always right about Trump and Trump is doing this is one area where Trump is actively this is one area where Trump is telling the truth in the sense that he's he's following through on a promise he made.
I'm going to punish my political opponents, right? Um so the shock about this is frustrating. Um but second, yeah, I mean Trump is just objectively the most sensorious, capriccious, cruel and authoritarian president ever. I mean, again, it's it's worth noting that if Jack Pobic did this or or or a um you know, a Republican about President Biden, which we actually have examples of, I mean, they weren't prosecuted or investigated. More on that in just a moment. And the very last thing, because you have Mark Norman there, it's pretty funny. You know, he says free speech, free speech. He's, you know, he's being very satirical here, which is like Trump doesn't stand for free speech. Trump is the biggest threat to free speech in modern American history, far worse than the Democrats. And Rogan is not just calling it out, but he is warning Republicans like, "Look, eventually you will get a Democratic presidential candidate who is willing to take a page or two from Trump's ruthless playbook because at this point you've radicalized them into seeking retribution."
And maybe that Democratic president might think the only way to really have a reset is a tit fortat approach, right?
So he's basically warning Republican politicians, don't go down this road because the next Democratic administration might use this against you. So that brings us back to FIRE. So it's it's a libertarian free speech group. It's widely respected in a bipartisan basis. Again, Megan Kelly of all people, big fan of fire. And they've criticized the Biden and Obama administrations. They've criticized liberal woke college universities, etc. and so forth. Even they recognize that Donald Trump is the biggest threat to free speech in American history. As a matter of fact, I should have pulled this up, but I didn't. I will find it in just a second. I will show you where FIRE's, you know, executive vice president responded to me reminding them of what they said about Trump, but more on that in just a moment. So, they said, "Former FBI director James Comey has been indicted over his now deleted 8647 social media post, but come's threat is protected or speech, excuse me. Comey's speech is protected by the First Amendment. It is not a quote true threat and cannot justify federal prosecution.
Long-standing Supreme Court precedent is directly on point. In 1969, Robert Watts was convicted for saying quote, "If they ever make me carry a rifle, the first man I want to get in my sights is LBJ."
That's Lyndon Baines Johnson, the president of the United States at the time. The Supreme Court of the United States reversed the conviction. Holding wants free speech was first amendment protected political hyperbole, not a quote true threat.
Number three, 86 has many possible meanings, including impeachment. Right?
Because again, as even Rogan was saying, okay, well 8647, that means you want to get rid of the 47th president. Just impeach him. It's also part of political discourse. For example, conservative commentator Jack Bobic posted 8646 on Twitter referring to President Biden back in 2022. He rightly faced no criminal charges. Right? Imagine how the very people who are celebrating James Comey's prosecution would react if Jack Bobic, who is much more incendiary, much more hostile to Biden than Comey is to Trump, you know, if Biden had pursued charges in this way. Number four, the idea that Comey's picture of seashells conveyed a serious intent to arm the president is ridiculous. The administration should abandon this transparent and unconstitutional attempt to punish a critic. And again, they linked to a Fox News article. It's worth noting, by the way, that even Fox News um that even Fox News has said in terms of its like top legal analysts like Jonathan Turley and um Andy McCarthy that this case against James Comey is absurd and and lacks merit. Um I want to also pull this up because I I was able to find it. Um, okay. So, I quote tweeted them and I said, "No Parino of Fire told Midi Hassan that the threat Trump posed to free speech is unprecedented quote in scope, scale, and severity a [ __ ] year ago. We have three years left." To which Nico Parino said, "Uh, thanks for the reminder." So, again, this libertarian free speech group that goes after um liberals and progressives and Democratic administrations, they're openly saying, "Yeah, no, we were right a year ago. Trump is worse. Trump was worse than every Democratic administration three months into his second term and now we're a year later with three years left to go and he's still far worse. So anyone who tells you that oh you know the Republicans of the party of free speech and Trump's good on free speech are even not so bad. No, he's objectively worse than the Democrats. One other clip from Rogan.
>> I don't love the the Kimmel [ __ ] is annoying. Like the fighting with Kimmel over the like come on man.
>> Here's the thing about that joke. Adam Crow had a really good point. He said that joke. He said that joke on a Thursday. On Friday, nobody gave a [ __ ] because this Kimmel. He said a joke about Melania. He made his own mock White House press correspondents dinner and he said Melania has the the glow of a woman who's recently widowed.
>> Okay.
>> Just that's it.
>> It's an old guy joke like he's going to die.
>> Yeah, it could be. Or an assassination joke if you want to take it that way.
But he is old. But then >> after the attempt?
>> No, before. So it's on Thursday. And this is Caro's point. It's a really good point. He said, "No one gave a [ __ ] on Friday. It came out. It came out on Thursday. No one cared on Friday. No one cared on Saturday until Saturday night when the assassination attempt and then all a sudden everyone's blaming Kimmel, >> right? Because it's motivated reasoning because it's outcome oriented reasoning.
They hate Kimmel because he mocks Donald Trump. And cult leaders, particularly fascist cult leaders, they can't stand to be mocked, right? It undermines their, you know, notion of supremacy.
That's what this was. It's just motivated reasoning. And I I don't know what the relationship's like between Rogan and um Rogan and uh Kimmel. I know that Adam Corolla, whom he mentioned, is a conservative comedian, conservative political commentator, and they used to host the man show together, uh Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Corolla, and they're still actually pretty good friends, even though they have wildly disperate political views. Um but good on Rogan for pushing back on that because again, I want you to imagine Greg Gutfeld is a comedian on the right. Um he hosts Gutfeld on Fox News which is actually pretty damn popular. Um got to be said and you know he's a political commentator as well. I want you to imagine all the [ __ ] that all the all the [ __ ] that Guffeld was saying about President Biden during the Biden years if Biden had publicly or surreptitiously or both the way that Trump is tried to jawbone or threaten or use state power against Fox News because of jokes that Greg Gutfeld made about Biden. The right would have understandably been furious.
But Biden didn't because he was just objectively better on free speech than Trump has ever been or shall ever be.
Which brings us again back to fire. So Will Creley, one of the uh top fire attorneys, says the senator is correct.
The first amendment bars chairman Carr's retaliation against Disney. More members of Congress should speak out against it.
And they're referring, of course, to um uh Brendan Carr, the wildly hyperartisan smug troll who runs the Federal Communications Commission and who has been gunning for Jimmy Kimmel. um since he was made chairman of the FCC.
Remember, he was the one who went viral for going, "We can do this the easy way or the hard way and briefly pressuring Disney successfully to take Kimmel off the air only for it to backfire and Kimmel to be more popular than ever."
Well, now he's trying it again. And so, this is in reference to MAGA Republican Senator Ted Cruz condemning this. He says Cruz is pushing back hard against the FCC subjecting Disney to an early license renewal process. quote, "It's not the government's job to censor speech, and I do not believe the FCC should operate as the speech police."
Ted Cruz, again, to give him his credit here, has been pretty consistent about this, calling out Brendan Carr and indirectly Donald Trump for their abuse of power. So, there you have it, folks.
I mean, again, I really want to see like a total disavow of Trump by Rogan. I hope we get to that point. again the way that Schultz has, the way that Dylan has, the way that um um not the Ovon uh but um uh Dave Smith has as well, right?
These MAGA adjacent podcasters and influencers who helped launder and sanitize Trump's reputation, it would be the most impactful coming from Rogan.
and Rogan has been critical, but again, he's still too he just can't quite quite bring himself to say, you know, oh, um, I condemn Donald Trump and, you know, in the most explicit terms and and and I disavow him and again and just and truly truly push back. I do want to point out though one of and I'm not going to play the clip um but again because you got to be careful with these things but there's a quote from Joe Rogan in a recent Joe Rogan experience and he's complaining about Governor Gavin Newsome he says quote nobody believes Nuome is a real person whether you like Trump or not whether you think he's corrupt he's a human being with Newsome you've got like this construct this cardboard cut out of a person so Rogan is here's the problem Rogan has pitched himself as a guy who's willing to talk with every anybody anybody and everybody that's part of his appeal Right. But the truth is it's it's just not the case. You'll notice a a a stunning absence of liberal or leftwing figures on the Joe Rogan experience over the past few years and certainly a stunning absence of of stridident Trump critics. So to the extent that you'd get somebody on the left, it'll be somebody like Tulsi Gabbard who claims to be part of the left but all she does is kiss Trump's ass, right? They're overwhelmingly open Trump supporters or Trump curious or they grade Trump on a curve. you're not getting, you know, he he used to have Kyle Kolinsky on all the time. Kyle Kolinsky of Secular Talk.
Kyle Kolinsky has not been invited back on in years. Sam Harris, um Joe Rogan won't talk to Sam Harris. Um Destiny, liberal streamer, Destiny, Medie Hassan, you know, any of like the the big, you know, um attention get like the some of the best debaters, some of the most entertaining people on the liberal left coalition who are strident Trump critics who could challenge Rogan. Newsome or Rogan is ducking them and Rogan is also ducking Governor Nuome. Um, and listen, whatever you want to say about Newsome's faults, he would just dog walk Rogan in a debate. And Rogan is ill equipped to defend himself against Newsome. And that's really the crux of this. And but what's interesting to me is this is a tacit acknowledgement by Rogan that Donald Trump is corrupt. He's like, whether you think he's corrupt and he is corrupt, man. That's that's Rogan's way of saying, "Yeah, I know Trump is corrupt, but he's a quote human being."
I don't even know what the hell that is.
I don't know what the hell he's talking about there. What do you mean he's a human being? Well, Gavin Newsome, you know, he he says and does things that contradicts it. You know, he he sticks his finger in the air and says, "Okay, what's what's popular or not?" And he changes position. That's an accusation that's leveled to Governor Nuomo. And Governor Nuome has been inconsistent in his policy positions over the years, and he does pivot a lot. It's fair enough.
You want to criticize him for that, that's fair enough. So is Donald Trump.
Donald Trump is infamously inconsistent on a variety of topics. Take the Iran War for example. He contradicts himself from day to day to day on an issue. So this idea that Donald Trump is corrupt, but he's consistent, [ __ ] Absolutely [ __ ] It's just cope coming from Joe Rogan because he has beef with Nuome and he knows Newsome would humiliate him in a conversation.
He doesn't want to do it. So there you have it. Hopefully we see Rogan eventually fully break from Donald Trump in a more permanent way. Fingers crossed because I think it would be beneficial.
But in the meantime, let me know what you think in the comments.
