Why Sales Feels Like A DrugAdded:
At a very early age, that's exactly what I wanted to be.
Okay? I thought I was going to continue in the family business and that's what I would do.
By the time I was 16, I was doing heroin with my dad. Um I was selling drugs.
And that's what I thought that that I wanted to do. And that's what I thought was going to be cool cuz I obviously idolized my dad and the lifestyle that he had. I've been exposed to a very different lifestyle where people got to hustle every day. Now, when I lived in Brazil for the year, I really sort of got a bit of an awakening. And when I came back from Brazil, I had no trade. Um so, I didn't know what I was going to do.
But I accidentally [clears throat] tripped over this job interview for a door-to-door company.
And when I went out there on my first day and I started knocking on doors, all right? And I got my first sale, [ __ ] I got a rush. And I recognized that same dopamine hit that I had had as a as a teenager on drugs. I was like, "Shit.
This feels good."
And all of a sudden, when I realized and I learned the system at a very, very early age, I'm going to share some of it with you guys, that it didn't matter where I came from. What mattered was that I worked harder than the guy next to me. If I simply didn't even get better at sales, didn't even master that, if I just made and knocked on more doors than Bobby next to me, I was going to make more money than him. And all of a sudden, very quickly, I got this dream like, "You know what? [ __ ] I can actually have a normal life." I didn't want to live that lifestyle anymore and I thought, "Here's an opportunity for me to actually truly build something." You know?
And what I was lucky enough to learn was a few uh a system, basically, that I lived and breathed by.
Built these businesses up and been able to repeat that and teach that to literally thousands and thousands of sales reps over the last 13 odd years.
Nearly.
