During the American Civil War, British Royal Navy, and World War I and World War II, soldiers who lost their uniforms or attempted to desert were considered traitors and faced severe punishment including execution or hanging, with the punishment involving removal of military patches as evidence of their desertion.

this is a history lesson on Civil War era ww1 ww2 Korean War on desertion crimes from these warsAjouté :
Hi, this is Rama 3 Antiques and today's video is going to be a history lesson on ranks.
A full video tutorial. Let's jump into the video.
So, this one is going to be about people back in the World War I, World War II, and Korean War, and also back in the Civil War, and also back in the Civil War era for the British Royal Navy or Royal Army.
So, let's begin.
So, back in all these wars, there was a a thing that you had to follow these rules.
A lot of these rules have been lost in time.
And let's teach you the this history that they don't teach in schools no more.
Let's jump into the video.
I have no idea what the title is going to be right now, but let's jump into the video.
Okay.
So, during the American Civil War, when if you lost your uniform, your hat, your shirt, or part of your uniform, you would be known as a traitor in in the war, or a person that is trying to be, you know, skip the war.
What I was telling that, skip the war.
And there's a name for it, but I can't think of it right now. But anyway, so in the in the Nate Kingdom, if a person, you know, tries to skip the war, they would they would remove the patches so they if they were to sell war, they would remove their patches.
And you'll be a traitor. And if you're a traitor during the Waco Civil War or the Nate Kingdom back in the day, you you would be killed or hung.
And during World War II and World War I, if you, you know, were the traitor, you would do the same thing. They would take off your patches and and you'll be a criminal.
