In The Boys Season 5 finale, V1 Homelander (10x more potent than normal Compound V) failed to demonstrate the expected power increase, instead losing a 2-on-1 fight against Butcher and Ryan, which contradicts the show's established power scaling logic where V1 should have made him incomparable to previous threats.

The Boys Finale ProblemAdded:
When you hate me, then this is what you would want.
>> So, um, that finale for the boys was a finale of all time, wouldn't you guys say? Second day.
>> To follow up on my Homelander video, I have to at the very least speak on Homelander when he has V1 in his system and see if he actually lived up to the hype. Is V1 Homelander this godlike being that can conquer the world whenever he feels like it, or was he just a bum? Now, if you were to ask me this after seeing episode 6's ending, I would have said, "I'm not sure." But this is a pretty damn cool introduction scene that got me hooked. However, by the time of the finale, I'm left questioning what was the point of even giving Homelander v1 and what was the point of even showing this scene?
Because all things considered, it's a pretty damn cool scene. However, this is unironically the most Homelander ever accomplished with his V1. Now, for the record, I know the main point was to give him V1 so that he can attain immortality. And because of this, a lot of people believe that this was the only thing V1 could accomplish. But we have to remember V1 is specifically stated to be 10 times more potent than normal compound V, which already amplifies your powers the more you have inside of you.
Saying Homelander has like a capped level of strength and heavenly restriction himself out of a stat increase makes no sense since the point of V1 was not only for him to become immortal, but was also a key in Homelander's ascension. Theoretically speaking, V1 should have been a massive stat increase for the likes of Homelander. And I mean, based off this one scene, I would assume so. He legit shoots a beam in the sky that according to the VA site on Twitter can be seen from all the way to Greece, which is a scale of power that has never been shown from Homelander before. Think about this, guys. Homelander is shooting this beam in America. This beam is so potent and so powerful, it can legit be seen through all the way to [ __ ] reefs. And like I said, this is his best accomplishment with V1. V1 Homelander, based on what season 5 was showing us, should have been a force that even the previous Homelander level threats now are incomparable to because of his newfound power. And like I already said, if this wasn't the case, why did we even get this scene? If they actually followed through on this, then you'd be forced to actually care about the strong characters that season 5 just ignored all season. Characters like Marie, Soulja Boy, or even characters like Starlight and Ryan, who had crazy potential to be involved in this fight and actually be required to take down this new monster, ended up really not doing much. Ryan definitely did his thing in the finale, don't get me wrong, but he should have been incorporated in the plan to taking down Homelander from the very start rather than just shoehorning him in in the finale. I mean, if the show remembered, Huie could have stepped in since he had the Temp Vile and we could have gotten this peak image. I'm just kidding. This is absolutely horrible. But instead, we got Homelander mainly just killing one guy, sending a guy into space, and losing a twoon-one against Butcher and Ryan, and barely damaging the room of the White House. You remember those posters that were gassing up the effects after season 4 or even Homelander after getting V1?
Yeah. Well, none of this happens, and they barely damage the room of the White House itself. I think a big factor to note here in this fight specifically is Billy Butcher himself with his parasite.
Going into season 5, you'd assume he'd be more powerful than ever. and even surpass the likes of Temp Vcher. But this is kind of half true. Butcher physically seems to be weaker and much closer to characters like Kimiko as he was getting completely obliterated by people like Bombsite. Bombsite is closer to characters like Soulja Boy, but we see that Soulja Boy was trying to avoid directly punching him because it hurts his own hands. So, it's not like Bombsite is weak or anything, but it's clear that he's below Soulja Boy, which 10v Butcher should be closer to, especially given that he was kind of able to fight Homelander. And we can clearly see through their individual performances with Bombsite, Soulja Boy has a stronger edge over Parasite Butcher than Temp. However, the one thing carrying Butcher is definitely his tentacles since they seem to be weirdly powerful and can actually be annoying enough to restrain Homelander. The tentacles seem to be much stronger than Billy's physicals. And what's crazy is because of this, they could have mainly emphasized this than having Butcher unironically playing support while Marie and Ryan go in for their hits. And it would definitely be super effective in this scenario because you have all of the other characters that were supposed to be set up to take down Homelander first initially getting their hits in and then the second Homelander gets powered down, you have Butcher finally getting his one-on-one beat down with Homelander, which should still stay the same because that scene was peak. But realistically speaking, if it was that easy for Butcher to pull up on Homelander and jump him with just Kimiko, they could have just straight up done this in the boot camp if the GenV kids were here. I'm convinced that they would have actually bullied Homelander in episode 1 if Marie was there because of how bad V1 Homelander does against Butcher. We see during the fight he performs better after seeing Ryan due to being enraged. So, we have an enraged Homelander with V1 somehow not obliterating Billy and Ryan with his physicals. And we have Kimiko surviving lasers from Homelander, who mind you, earlier on in the season had been cut in half by a weaker Homelander. And despite the fact that Billy's tentacles are much stronger than his physicals, instead of using his tentacles to try and restrain Homelander with Ryan, we have Billy and Ryan just physically holding him down compared to a weaker Homelander somehow escaping a physically stronger Billy, Soldier Boy, and a TempV amped Huey. Do I need to keep showing you guys examples of Homelander just being an absolute jobber in this finale? It's so tragic to see my goat fall from grace, especially given his consistent portrayal of power in previous seasons. I mean, he legit sends someone into space within 3 seconds and yet jumps at 0.5 times speed when trying to escape Kimiko's blast in the White House. Homelander at this point is just a joke and unironically weaker than his season 3 self according to the show's logic. If Ryan and Kimo plus Butcher were pulling this off, then we should have just wrapped this up in season 3 with Soulja Boy removing Homelander's powers with Maven Billy. I mean, in the previous example I just mentioned, you could have ended it halfway through season 3 with Heroasm. I didn't mention this in the last video, but Starlight was another character that amounted to nothing, especially in the finale and was a complete letdown.
Fighting the Deep is cool and whatnot and a nice circle back to season 1, but her versus Homelander has been building up for seasons. And the fight was literally live for the world to see. So, this was a perfect chance to show Starlight what she was capable of and show that she was actually right about Homelander. And instead, she just doesn't fly back to the White House, which we know she can do at insane speeds when she was going to beat down the deep. Even with just her and not Marie, I'd be okay with this. But it's still honestly laughable how they slimed out Soulja Boy and just made the GenV kids go to Canada for some reason. They thought we'd care if Emma just pulled up on screen for some reason just for them to be shoehorned into a truck. And you guys already heard my previous frustrations with what they did to Soulja Boy in the last video, but the fact that they slime him out just for them to use the same method that he already had to defeat Homelander with is kind of stupid. I'm left wondering why the show even bothered giving Homelander this power up or adding in this plot line altogether. This was the main focus of the season and I was expecting episode 7 or especially in the finale to really set the scale. But ultimately the season has let me down and I'm left feeling a little bummed out. Don't get me wrong in the finale. The second half of this episode is great and I'm satisfied with the conclusions of our main characters to an extent. I kind of wish they committed to the butcher villain arc, but whatever. It is what it is. But I felt like this season pulled strings and turned their brains off during production and primarily focused on a plotline that ultimately led to nothing. And we received some of the weakest episodes that the entire show had to offer that primarily focused on a plotline that did not ultimately follow through. It's a shame for The Boy season 5 to feel almost mediocre or lackluster in comparison to the other four seasons, but I'm happy most of our characters got the happy ending they deserved.
