Kilcher masterfully demonstrates that vintage military engineering remains the pinnacle of rugged utility for serious land management. This is a textbook example of how raw mechanical power solves complex environmental challenges more effectively than modern alternatives.

Will this Old Truck Dump 5 TonsAdded:
Okay, let's see if this baby's going to start, shall we? I got the batteries charged up. I'm probably going to leave the chargers on for a minute. Brake fluid in. Going to check the fuel real quick and then we're going to take this thing out to Dave's place and move dirt.
This is the best truck for this job because these military trucks, they the bed powers up and powers down and they're really fast and they also power straight up almost vertical so you can haul uh sticky materials like clay and dirt and it and it falls out more easily. So, they're really really handy.
Plus, it's six-wheel drive. And where we're going, we're going to need it. So, going to the other side and going to check the fuel level.
Oh yeah. My god. We got enough fuel the last hell. We got enough fuel to get all the way to Ukraine if we had to.
Okayoo.
We have power. We have the fuel pump pumping.
Going to let that fuel pump pump up a little pressure here. Let's try it.
How about that? Listen to that thing.
Look at that purr.
Just like me. This thing just like me.
Kind of can look old and crusty, but I can purr like a kitten. Right conditions. She's waiting over there.
The gal's waiting for me. And I know I got to go over there and smooth it out so her neighbor can park. So, I got to do that. There's a damn good chance I might move some dirt today. Kind of see how far we get. But that's my plan.
So, here we are at the construction site. Hi, Taja.
>> Hi, Alo been here.
>> You didn't expect to see a truck this damn big at your place today, did you?
>> No. And I thought it was water truck.
>> So, right now I my big goal was to get this here today, smooth things out for you and for Joe to park and stuff like that and then see how far we get. I'm thinking that once I get it all ready, then it's going to take two people, one driving the truck, one filling, and back and forth, back and forth. And it's no sense just making one couple loads. But we know when we do 20 loads, then we then we're ready for more loads. So, there's more getting ready, but at least this is here. Let me move it up out of the way. You should go move your truck.
I'm going to park it up there somewhere.
>> Okay. on the >> There's a five-speed.
Got a five-speed here. There's a high and low.
Actually, I drove out in low range. It's a little hard on the old bird. Anyway, here we go. You ready?
>> Yeah.
What we're going to end up doing, we're going to end up I got this kind of semile level. What we're going to do is we're going to park right here and we'll park the excavator there. We're going to fill this up with the excavator from that hill over here. Then we'll just move this uh fill material up and down the road with it.
Heat.
Heat.
Well, I'm happy.
Kind of what we're looking at here, Tasha, is you know the it used to go up here a little bit and then down since it was that high.
>> I know.
>> This might go up a little more and then all over the top of that. So the the final grade might be higher.
>> I don't know.
>> And then one thing I have to do is dig out all these rocks. Of course.
>> Mhm.
>> These big ones.
>> Yep.
>> There's like one, two, three, four. Oh, hell. There's a lot of them.
>> Yeah. And there's that stump we talked about.
>> Oh, yeah. There's a big stump over here.
Oh, yeah.
>> That one.
>> Yeah. Another one.
>> Hey, Jason just showed up. I'm I'm having a little uh thought that maybe this thing is not fully up to power.
It's got a relatively new engine in it, but I had to buy a new throttle control module, and I think it's not revving up to power. So, I just uh was talking to him and he said, "Let's check the RPMs real quick." So, maybe we can adjust the RPMs up and get get up to full power.
>> I was just going to put this little piece of tape >> down here.
And here's the guy here.
>> Yeah. So, it's got a laser. It just picks up how how much that um tape is coming around. So, >> we'll check it at idle first and then we'll go um >> power.
>> Yeah. You ready?
>> Yeah. We'll have to probably We'll just check RPM baseline and then you'll have to have you probably dig a little or can you manually control everything or does it rev up by itself?
>> Uh both.
>> I can put it under a load, >> but I'd like to just know how high it is.
>> Okay, let's check the baseline RPM.
It'll should be about 650 600.
>> Clear.
Okay, Dave, let's get the rest of these rocks. Get the dump truck. Get the branch up over here. We're going to load these rocks up. Then we're going to go up there and get those rocks up by your turnaround pad.
So, go get the truck and let's make it happen.
>> Sounds good.
Oh my god.
Heat.

making these rocks. Now the rocks are going to go down there in the ditch. We have a huge erosion problem down there.
>> They need to fill that ditch in new creek roof. We need a new creek fill it in with rock.
Heat. Heat.
Okay, I got the rocks all loaded and we're going to back them down here in the corner of his property to get them ready to put in the drainage ditch. When they built this road down here, they didn't put any step pools in it, which breaks the flow of the waterfalls, and it's just gotten deeper and deeper and deep. It's endangering the road. It's endangering the power line. So, uh, and uh, fortunately, we're finding a lot of rocks on this project, so he's saving a lot of money. What I got to point out is that sometimes I try to get two rocks, but getting two rocks or three is really tricky and then you clamps down on one and two fall out. So sometimes it's easier just to take one rock at a time.
Seemed like a damn waste, but >> Mhm.
>> Yeah, he's on the brakes. So why don't you tell him to come back and down? I'm going to go ahead of him. I'm going to load a few more rocks on cuz there's more room. Yeah. And then I'm going to come back up here and start working this pad.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Okay, got all the rocks moved. All he's got to do now is dump them and then he can go drop trees and I can go to work smoothing out that path. So, see you back up the hill.
Nice thing about these military trucks is that they uh they jump straight up.
You can jump stuff out if you really need. Let me check. Make sure it's empty.
Hand up.
So, what the deal is? Yeah, >> we could park it here. I guess we could back it up. It's not really in the way.
Or you want to take it up top? No, it's in the way up top.
>> Yeah, I'll back it up. Just back it up a little way and I won't park here for now.
That's good. So, that's all for now, folks. I've got to go run and uh uh move a tractor and a rake and bail hay. in. So, I'll be back in a few
