Tesla threatening legal action against province

[00:00:00]The Manitoba government says electric vehicle giant Tesla is threatening legal action over the province's decision to stop its rebate of Tesla vehicles. The province says the government received a notice from Tesla Motors Canada saying it intends to seek a judicial review of the decision. Premier Kinew says the government will only consider reversing their decision if the United States drops tariffs on Canadian goods. In 2024, the NDP government launched rebates of up to $4,000 for people who buy EVs. Last year, the government stopped those rebates for Tesla vehicles and those made in China in retaliation for tariffs. The notice from Tesla says the move to end the rebates was procedurally unfair and done for an improper purpose. Company officials were not available to comment.
