She Can't Access to Their Money After Signing a Prenup

[00:00:00]My husband is a business owner and when we got married I signed a prenuptial agreement saying what's his is his and what's mine is mine. Since then I've had our daughter. I'm a stay at home mom.

[00:00:12]And I get told, you know, this is not mine. I don't have any say in the finances. I don't know how much money we're making or if we're making any at all. When prenuptials are involved, at what point is a prenuptial in that like in a disagreement?

[00:00:28]>> Well, here here's the thing. It has nothing to do with the prenuptial. A prenuptial dictates what happens at divorce. It doesn't dictate what happens during the marriage. It just says upon divorce he gets his business. You don't get it.

[00:00:42]That's all it says. Okay? But the a prenuptial is not a thing that says, "Okay, you are now a woman that's not allowed to ask any questions about her husband's business." That's not what a prenuptial does. He had you do a prenuptial because he's a jerk, not because he owns anything of substance.

[00:00:59]You don't have a prenuptial problem and you don't have a financial problem. You have a desperately bad marriage.

[00:01:13]No, I'm not telling you to leave. I'm telling you to work on your marriage.

[00:01:15]What I would do is say, "I'm going to a marriage counselor. Are you coming?

[00:01:20]Because I'm considering ending this marriage. I'm not going to be treated this way anymore." And then go to a marriage counselor even if he doesn't come and get some coaching and have someone in that kind of a setting not a couple people on a podcast telling you to leave your husband. We're not going to sign up for that responsibility. You should sit down with someone that guides you through this and gives him every chance to turn around before you end this and then you systematically bring it to an end at some point if there's zero change and zero hope that it's ever going to be any different.
