Remote Bahamas Crossing Exploring & Diving Plane Wrecks本站添加:
When you want to get to [music] the Bahamas, you have two options. And neither has a perfect track record of getting you there.
>> The stuff that I just put Stephanie through, she just takes it. And based on what I'm looking at, this has to be a plane that we're on top of. [music] Where were they going? What were they doing? And what went wrong?
>> Clay hasn't [music] been coming to the Bahamas with me. And I think that's where he's really messing up. I'm a secret weapon. With that, I'm just kidding. This is why the finer [music] things in life remain untouched unless you're willing to take a risk. Stephanie just starts flipping out saying that we're going to hit something.
>> They're pilot wheel. This is godsense.
>> Most people stick to [music] the easy safe options, but we're moving the needle towards new discoveries in isolated parts of the Bahama Bank.
>> You know what this weather tells me, Clay? [music] >> It's time to go to the Bahamas.
>> Yes. And I am so excited because it has been some time from the Bahama Mama. So, we are going childless. So, we're going to do a little date >> and cameraman list, camera crew list.
It's just Stephanie and I, you know.
>> Exactly.
>> First thing we're going to do is cross the Gulf Stream. Once we get to Biminy, we're going to start our [music] trip, do some fishing, diving, relaxing. Got tons of fishing gear, tons of dive gear, tons of everything. But, >> and tons of energy.
>> Tons of energy. We're going to have a lot of fun. There's no doubt about that.
[music] [music] Woo!
All right, guys. Well, we are cooking right now. We're doing about 45 miles an hour. As you can see, we have pretty awesome conditions right now. It's not quite glass calm, but we have the 1 to 2 foot seas that everyone dreams of crossing in right here. Burning about.9 to one mile per gallon. So, we should have plenty of fuel once we get over there. But one thing I could say about running a boat like this across the Gulf Stream is typically the faster you go, the better it rides. The reason why is this boat has a double step hole. And a lot of people, you know, they're they're afraid to go faster. You know, they're comfortable going slower, taking it easy. And though you can do that in a lot of boats, the step hole boats typically tend to run a lot better the faster you go. The steps actually give the back end a little lift. So that way the front of the boat can cut through the water real nice. Just always remember that sometimes just going a little bit faster, whether it's 5 to 10 miles an hour faster, can actually make the boat ride a lot better. But I think it's so funny though, like the stuff that I just put Stephanie through. She just takes it.
>> Yeah. He has no idea. I wish some of you would comment how your wives would take crossing the middle of the ocean.
>> Seriously, like we're in the middle of the ocean right now. 70 is just chilling. We're hauling butt. It's nothing for us to hop in the boat, go 90 miles, set up shop over in Biminy. I mean, it's like a second home for us, you know.
>> Well, yeah. I guess you got to thank my parents for that. They started me really young crossing over. So, to me, it just really wasn't a thought. Whereas, like I talked to some of my friends and they're like, "Oh, no. I won't do that crossing unless I'm in like a 401 boat." And it's like, "Well, I've done it on a 23t boat."
>> Yeah.
>> So, it's nothing for us. Even though, you know, you always want to be prepared. We got our Starlink Garmin in reach. Got our life wrap down inside the console, but shaping up to be a good weekend.
>> So, pretty incredible, guys. We're running in the boat and Stephanie just starts flipping out [music] saying that we were going to hit something.
>> Yeah, cuz it looked like floating debris and we just like literally stopped cuz it was in our track. And I'm [music] looking closer and I start seeing some movement.
>> Yeah, they're pilot whales.
>> They're pilot whales. And guys, this is incredible. This is godsend. I mean, you literally don't ever >> see something like >> see something like this. I' We've only seen pilot whales, I want to say, [music] once in our crossing. And And that's in a lifetime. So, >> yeah. What was crazy though is they were directly in our path. So, it's a good thing you saw them because if not, I mean, they blend into the blue water so well cuz they're essentially black. But >> really awesome start to the trip. We're going to keep on making our way over to Biminy. [music] >> [music] >> All right. Well, we officially made it to Biminy, guys. We actually already checked in. I skipped [music] all that stuff because we have an entire video that talks about how to actually prep a boat, do the click to clear. I mean, it's like 35 minutes long and I walk you guys through absolutely everything. So, if you want to learn about that, it's down in the video description below. But when we cleared [music] at the dock, we actually got in trouble. Reason being is because I've had everybody here at the dock on the channel besides David. Like I said, he's a dock master here.
>> He takes care of you as soon as you get here until the moment you leave.
>> Absolutely. And Stephanie and him go way back. For those of you that don't know, Stephanie was basically raised here. So >> that's right. [music] >> David saw all the good, the bad, the ugly from Stephanie as she was growing up here.
>> Always good. Always good. Always good.
[laughter] >> Always good.
>> Even though David could probably tell you otherwise.
But here we are finally out on the water. And now that we're cleared, we're going to try doing some fishing. So, the last time we [music] actually came to the Bahamas, we did a yellow fin tuna trip. And I remember when we were running over, the water was slick, calm, crystal clear, and I found all these wrecks. So, here we are a month later.
So, what we're going to do is we're going to drop the trolling motor. We have a live well full of piltchers right here and we're going to try a little live chumming, live bait fishing and just sit here on the anchor and just see if we could pull something up off of these wrecks. [music] So, it's so fun to do this type of stuff because it's so mysterious. You know, you you sit there and you think about it for a month straight, which is what I've been doing and finally here we are. So, finally got the drone up here and based on what I'm looking at, this has to be a plane that we're on top of. So many barracudas. So many >> hooked up, baby. So, I dropped down a knocker rig and something smoked it. I don't know if it's a barracuda [music] or not. And that's what we got.
>> Do you know what you're doing?
>> Not really.
>> Not even the shark wants him.
>> Poor barracuda.
>> Get that dehooker, baby.
>> I can't talk about my products anymore because every single time I do, someone gets upset in the comments. All you do is talk about boats and your fishing products. And I'm like, well, if it weren't for all those things, we wouldn't be doing what we're doing. So, >> and another thing, [music] too, it's like Clay hasn't been coming to the Bahamas with me. And I think that's where he's really messing up cuz if we can recall, I'm a secret weapon. [laughter] With that, I'm just kidding. [laughter] >> You got him. You got him. You got him.
You got him.
>> Reel, reel, reel, reel. There it is.
Listen, Cuda.
I hope that you understand who I am.
[laughter] He just slapped me in the face without even knowing it.
>> So, we're going to move on to something new here. We just cannot get away from those stinking barracudas. Every single bait that we drop back, we just keep on getting cut off. But, nonetheless, just something really cool to experience. You know, it's always so much fun discovering something new out here in the Bahamas. And that's what's so exhilarating about running the bank here [music] is finding something like that.
You know, that's a once in a-lifetime type of thing right there. But like I said, time to move on to something new.
But speaking of time, [music] this week we're wearing the D5 Meridian from Ver. And what I really like about [music] this watch, in addition to some of their other watches that I have by them, this one's motion activated. So, as we're rocking and rolling, moving around the boat, we're actually charging the watch. [music] But what's so cool is you can actually see the mechanics on the back side of the watch right there, which I think is really neat. But as you can see, I just pulled off the band right there. It's another thing that's significant that I always tell you guys about how you can swap [music] the bands, mix and match them, dress them up, dress them down. I got the D5 dressed up for this weekend with Stephanie and I just because we're going to be going out to dinner, going on dates, [music] things of that nature.
So, I want to make sure I look real nice. But really beautiful watch in my opinion. You know, it's [music] got the navy face, got the gold handles right there. So, just one of my favorites. And of course, it goes perfect with our navy shirt right here. But [music] links right there up on screen. But we're going to make a move. Appreciate Bear for sponsoring this week's video.
[music] [music] >> [music] [music] >> So, we just powered down here, dropped the trolling motor, and it's probably hard for you guys to see it, but straight back behind me, there's like a perfect circle. And it's not too often that nature makes a perfect circle. The reason why I mentioned that is whenever you're running around here in the boat, obviously underneath me here, you can see it's dark and [music] grassy. But in that little area right there, it brightens up and it's almost like a sand bottom. And then there's that perfect circle like I was talking about. Once that piece of structure, wreck, whatever it may be, lands on top, then all the grass dies. And then you could just see that white patch of sand right around and then right in the middle is that piece of structure. [music] So, it's another thing that we found out here.
Kind of figured rather than fishing, let's just make it a little more simple.
Get in the water.
>> Excuse me, Clay. I just want you to understand something.
>> What may that be?
>> I'm out here filming you and making a show. Now, give me something to work with and bring up a fish. Baby, >> you need something. [laughter] >> Here, there's an egg bite I just found on the top of the console.
>> This is mine.
>> [gasps] >> Yum, yum, yum, yum.
>> Good target practice, [music] >> right?
So beautiful little line fish right there. Don't have to be an expert by any means to put some of these in the boat, but you do have to know how to dive.
Luckily here it's only about 15 ft of water, so nice and easy. Golden Fox.
>> First fish of the box.
>> Woo! We're champions, baby.
>> You know, one thing that we usually don't like to do, but do it every once in a while, is dive alone. So right now Clay is diving alone. We don't suggest it. However, we are in the Bahamas and because the visibility is so great, I literally am watching [music] him from the transom of the boat. Otherwise, you know, [music] I would suggest always diving with a buddy. Clay and I are just a little crazier, I guess.
One less lion fish eating up the refish.
>> I think we're good on lion fish, babe.
>> I think we are, too. I'm going to hop back in the boat. We're going to get back on the throttles, keep running the bank, and see what else is a good spot.
Now, if I'm going to be honest, you're going to have to burn some fuel to find some fish around Biminy. The reason why we chose to shoot the line fish off the wreck is just because first, they're an invasive species, and second, they're easy targets, and most fish on the wreck were undized. But after a beautiful boat ride on the bank, we decided to just fish off the [music] drop off and just mess around and drop a couple lines. We managed to hook a few fish, but if it wasn't a barracuda, we would eventually get sharkked. But nonetheless, a successful day on the water. All right, guys. So, made it back to the mainland.
You know, mission accomplished overall today. And that was Stephanie and I just spending some time together. That's really what this trip was about more than anything. But >> and some and finding new places, too.
Like >> Yeah.
>> And seeing new things. I mean, we found that plane that we had never seen. And then [music] we also saw some pilot whales on our way over. So, it really was like just a beautiful day as a whole. And I got to mess around with this one a little bit. [laughter] >> But that's it right there. You know, Stephanie and I just hanging out together, having fun. We'll see you guys first thing in the morning. We're going to put the camera down, get some sleep, but um looking forward to tomorrow's day.
>> [music] [music] >> So, it's a great morning here.
>> We're above ground. It's already a good day. And to make it that much better, we're here >> now. All we have to do is just have fun.
That's on the agenda.
>> That's it. But today, the goal is to just take it a little easier. And you know, one of the biggest things about the Bahamas is it's really known for diving more so than anything, right? You know, there's just crystal clear water here. So, there's typically always pretty good conditions to get in the water. So, that's the goal for today.
Put on the dive gear, hop in. It's nice and hot. Cool off, bring down some pole spears, see what we can find. You know, it's really just about enjoying our time out here. And at some point in the day, we plan on ending up on a beach. And I think that'll make for a perfect day.
Many blue got me drifting like [music] the daylight blue. From the contracts down to the edge of the moon. [music] Everything slows when I get to you. Be many shin [music] honey.
When the sun drops through. I can stay lost in a place that's [music] true.
>> All right, guys. So, check this thing out behind me. We just stopped on another wreck right here. [music] And like I was saying earlier, we have this perfect sandy circle right here. And all around us is seaggrass. And as soon as we powered down and pulled up to this thing, I want to say I saw some jacks swimming around, some barracudas, unfortunately. But right here, it is just crystal clear. Absolutely beautiful. So, let's see what we can make happen. So, these shallow wrecks are perfect for beginner divers, especially because they're loaded with fish. But even if you're not into spear fishing, there's something the entire family can appreciate since our maximum depth is only around 15 ft. As you can see, it doesn't take very much debris to attract fish. But after [music] scanning the area, I found a couple props, which tells me that this is the remains of another plane wreck. [music] What was kind of funny is different species actually dominated different parts of the plane. And this portion was loaded with mangrove snappers, so I took a shot. My first instinct was to look around for sharks and barracudas before I surfaced, but no issues here. And we secured the first fish of the day.
>> Oh yeah, that's a good size mangro.
>> You're not going to believe this.
>> What?
>> Had a nice size couple things happened.
Hogfish literally swive swam right up to my spear, but he seemed a little too small to [music] shoot. And then I saw a button snapper. Doved out on him. I actually got a shot on him, but the uh pulsephere ripped out. But we'll take a mangrove snapper. Nice one at that matter, too.
>> Does this mean we get burgers and ceviche?
>> That's right. I don't think we're going to need some burgers.
Beautiful stuff, guys. Now, like I said, there's so much to appreciate regardless if fish is on the menu or not. On my second dive, I ran across a bunch of nurse sharks, more [music] hogfish, and a massive sea cucumber. But the fact that I'm on the hunt, it doesn't take me long to find another mangrove snapper. I lined up the shot and we secured another fish for dinner. Urabas, which is Spanish for one boore.
What's really interesting, you know, where we catch these back at home in the Florida Keys where we're from, they're typically a lot more brown because they're on that brownish greenish bottom. You can't beat it right there, guys. I mean, pretty cool stuff. 12 ft of water, [music] old plane wreck here.
Beautiful Bahama Blues. That's a beauty right there. Now, I can't think of anything else in this world that excites me and I would imagine most people as much as something like this. First, the eerie feeling of discovering a plane, [music] which holds so many questions.
Where were they going? What were they doing? And what went wrong? Then you have the polar opposite, just pure beauty. And what I would call some of God's greatest creations. Then, as I swim along, I come across [music] an absolute seafood delicacy, the queen conchk. And here's the best part.
Catching them doesn't get any easier than this. where there's one, another isn't too far behind. And talk about a [music] perfect way to just take advantage of life. So just about anywhere that you can find seaggrass in the Bahamas, um you could typically find these conchk right here. And there [music] is just tons of them here around Biminy. Um, a lot of visitors like myself, they don't typically [music] dive for these conchk themselves just because they don't want to go through the work [music] of actually removing them from their shells and harvesting them. What's really cool uh about the queen conchk is the shell is actually part of them. It grows with the [music] actual conch itself. Something to note if you guys ever want to come out here and do it yourself. Um, [music] in order to harvest a queen conchk legally, they have to have what's called a flared lip.
So, if you notice, this right here is called the lip. And as you [music] can see, it flares out once the conchk reaches maturity. You see earlier I caught one, and I'll show it right here.
As you can see, one of them has the flared lip, whereas the other one does not. So, I put that one back. Just such a delicacy here in the Bahamas. But from [music] here, we're going to take our lion fish, our comp, our snapper, throw it in with some lime juice, some vegetables, head to the beach. Take it easy. [music] If this doesn't tell you that there's a God that is real, [music] then I don't know what does because this right here is just so beautiful. [music] All right. So, Clay supposedly, I don't know how true this is, knows what he's doing.
>> We're going to find out.
So, I love conchk more than anything.
[music] And one of the only places that you can keep it is in the Bahamas cuz we can't keep them in the States. We used to have them in the United States, but we wiped them all out because, as you guys can see, they're very easy to uh catch. But as you can see on the right side of the conchk right here. So, what you want to do on that first row right there, take the end of a hammer.
We're basically [laughter] trying to bust the hole right there.
[music] Right inside of that hole, there's something that actually attaches the comp to the shell.
And that essentially should release the conchk from the shell.
Just like that.
>> Wow.
>> And now what we're going to go ahead and do is remove the foot and the skin. But first, before we do that, something that I just wanted to say, I typically never like to throw these conch shells back in the water. [music] Um, I like to dispose of them on land. And if you notice at the conchk shacks, they typically always have their shells on lamb because conchk will never return to an area where they find a dead conchk. So we're going to take a nice sharp filt knife here. And then all of this right here, these are all guts. Cut all that away. The skin, [music] I would say skinning the conchk is definitely one of the more difficult parts of all of it. Essentially, what you're trying to do is you're just trying to work away all that skin there and just [music] get down to the white meat.
>> Claire, we need to do more of this where you are just constantly cooking for me.
I love it.
>> And now that all the skin is gone, just going to [music] clean up a little bit more of that conch in the salt water there. Once you turn it into that nice white meat by cutting out the eyes, the foot, the guts, the skin, that's what you're left with right there. So, now that we got our conchk all cleaned up, we're going to save all of our other fish for later. But, as you can see, we have everything cut up perfectly. The conchk, tomatoes, onions, cilantro. But the first thing I like doing is adding the conchk to all that lime juice right there. For those of you that don't know, [music] the um acid in the lime actually uh [music] cooks the meat. Even though uh conch is just so delicious, like it's [music] such a nice white meat and it's almost like it's already cooked [music] as soon as you clean that conch. Now we're going to add some tomatoes that we chopped up right there. Some onions.
And then now just going to kind of sprinkle in the cilantro. Don't want to add too much of it. Little uh onion powder there. We have black pepper, salt, garlic [music] powder. Now, what I'm going to do is just mix it all up.
Rather than eating it with just forks the way that it is now, we're going to use some Tostito chips. And look at that right there, ladies and gentlemen.
Tell me that doesn't look good.
>> That looks amazing.
M >> I don't think you should have anymore.
>> You know, I was thinking the same exact thing for you. I think there's something wrong with it.
>> M so good.
>> But man, [music] we have to work hard for it and it's just been such a blast doing that. You know, I always love coming to a place like this and just trying to discover something new and that's really what makes all of this so enjoyable. This is why people spend half a million to a million dollars on a boat, you know, that's extremely capable, that's fast, that can do multiple different things all in one day. This right here, in my opinion, this is living.
>> I feel like most of our viewers know us by now. We just like blue water and a good time. And we're not really big crowd people. This is great.
>> Absolutely, [laughter] >> babe. This was excellent.
>> Right. With all that being said, guys, I feel like it's only right at the end of every show to thank you guys.
>> Yeah, we appreciate it and we're so [music] grateful for your continued support. And for those of you who are new, we appreciate you joining along.
>> Mhm. And if you want to support us, Stephanie is a realtor in the Florida Keys.
>> We also have a fishing and apparel brand as well. And uh last but not least, we will see you guys in the next video.
>> Yeah. Bye.
Thanks.
