Storm Team Forecast: 4 pm Wednesday May 20thAdded:
Now, Storm Team Meteorologist [music] Carson Metcalf with Central New York's most accurate forecast.
>> 4:13 is the time [music] on this late Wednesday afternoon. The view provided by our Pompey cam still a fair amount of cloud cover, a little bit of filtered sunshine here and there. And that's what we'll continue to find a few breaks, peaks of sun right through sunset this evening with overall fairly quiet conditions outside of a couple of odd sprinkles. We'll show you the radar picture in just a moment. One spot that's seen a little bit more sunshine today up toward Watertown, parts of the North Country over into the northern Adirondacks in particular. There's are some bright skies there. You see that represented here on the visible satellite picture. Those black areas that is where we're seeing the most sunshine. Of course, the white areas, those are the clouds. And yes, cloud cover has thinned out quite a bit, but still a fair amount of that cloud cover in place right now across Central New York. We'll even a couple of sprinkles and odd spotty showers falling out of some of those clouds, especially near and west of Syracuse out toward the Finger Lakes. Overall though, the bark worse than the bite, I think, at this point on the radar picture. A lot of that even having a hard time making it to the ground. And our cold front, well, to our east at this point, high pressure starting to roll on in. That'll slowly but surely take control moving through the upper Great Lakes into our area as we head into tonight and especially tomorrow. Temperature-wise, again, a much cooler day today, 50s to around just above 60 right now for most. A far cry from where we were at this time yesterday, anywhere from 20 to 25, even close to 30° cooler versus the 4:00 hour on Tuesday. Low temperatures for tonight ending up in the 40s under a partly to mostly cloudy sky. Any lingering spotty sprinkle shower activity winds down pretty quickly this evening. And we stay dry and quiet during the overnight.
Likewise, right through the day on Thursday. We'll characterize tomorrow as a mostly sunny sky. Yes, there will likely be some high clouds kind of filtering that sun, but still bright skies overall. Temperatures staying on the unseasonably cool side. We'll go 63 tomorrow up to 70 here on Friday, back into the 60s though as we head into Saturday. Some spots to kick off the weekend they even struggle to make it out of the upper 50s and then we'll try and make a run at 70 again by Sunday. In the short term though, Time Cast by 7:00 this evening and taking a deeper through tonight, a partly to mostly cloudy sky persisting again those low temperatures ending up largely in the 40s late tonight into early on Thursday morning.
So quiet start to the day tomorrow, intervals of sunshine here expected again filtered sunshine courtesy of that high cloud cover. Notice you're seeing a lot of that cloud cover on Time Cast.
That's high clouds, maybe not as much blue sky but still bright skies expected as we take you through the day tomorrow.
High pressure in control as we head into tomorrow and I pretty quiet conditions expected here right through the day on Friday as well. Next system lurking that's going to bring in some extra clouds and eventually some periods of rain into central New York to kick off the long weekend on a Saturday. By Sunday still some showers around turning warmer temperatures in the 60s to near 70. Looks like showers become more scattered even spotty in nature so drier conditions for the afternoon. Few showers to kick off Monday mid 70s and we're in the mid 70s still with intervals of clouds and sunshine Christie for the middle of next week.
