Claude for Outlook: AI Email Management Is Here

[00:00:00]Hey everyone, I am really excited to share this little update with you about Claude and Outlook. As you can see from my screen, Claude is now available in Outlook and this is something that I've been really waiting for. It is something that is not yet available directly.

[00:00:17]Claude hasn't announced it on their website. If you look at their website, it still shows that Claude is only available in Excel, PowerPoint and Word and it does not mention Outlook at all.

[00:00:30]Today is the 10th of May in Perth and I just wanted to share this cuz this was quite exciting. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Jenish Pandya from AI Titans. I run an AI adoption consultancy here in Perth, Australia where I help businesses implement AI and save time and increase the efficiency within their business and get some real results. So, let's talk about Claude. Claude is now available in Outlook as you can see. I found out about this during my workshop, Claude Co-Work that I run here in Perth and we stumbled on this accidentally.

[00:01:06]So, what it can do, it can read your emails, it can reply, create drafts for you, it can create folders, it can move and organize your emails, can look at your calendar as well and it can do a whole heap of more that normally people till now were using other paid email management apps to do. So, this comes baked into Claude. I wish I had recorded this but as soon as I found out on Thursday, I went a little bit nuts with this and this is my whole chat on the right and I started about what can you do, are you able to organize and it picked up a few things and then I asked it to analyze my whole inbox, create inbox management strategy, create the folders, move things around, label things, categorize things and it was amazing. I was up till 1:00 a.m. and I was like, I have to share this with everyone. So, let me share with you how you can get access to this. So, what I'm going to do is I'm going to first log out and we can start from a clean slate and close this.

[00:02:03]So, in your Outlook, if you come across to your home page and click on apps, and so in the add-in section, there is the more apps. Now, if you work in an organization and you have access to Claude, and you can add that in. If you don't have access, then you need to get a license for it as well, making sure that your IT permissions allow you to actually add this more apps. So, you click on more apps and then click on add apps. And you come across here, type in Claude, and ensure that it is Claude by Anthropic for Office. So, that is the official plugin, and you click on add.

[00:02:38]Now, if your IT provider or your IT team has blocked this, then you might need to request access, or you might need to be an authorized person in your Microsoft account to be able to add this as well.

[00:02:48]So, there might be certain permissions required. Because I've added this before, I've already given it my Microsoft permission, so it won't ask me for that again. But, it's quite simple as clicking in on as add. Then I go back to my inbox, I click on more apps, and then I click on Claude for Outlook, and out it pops on the right side.

[00:03:09]So, then what you need to do is log in with your Claude account. So, I click on log in, it will create a pop-up. The issue is I don't currently remember my ID password, so what I'm going to do is copy the sign-in link. And that works as well. So, if I copy that from there, and then I come into my browser that I usually use, paste that in, it will come up with what it needs to access. So, it will mention about all these things. So, if you're comfortable with this, then authorize it, and then you can use it. If you're not, then you won't be able to use it. So, I authorize this.

[00:03:43]And once I've authorized, it gives me a code to copy, which I do that now. And once I've copied that code, then I come across and paste it in here.

[00:03:53]And that's it. Well, I'm already signed in and then I can ask different things in here. I can ask it to review all of my inbox. I can do a lot of other things. And one of the things you want to do is click on this little corner thing called pin such that whenever you open up Claude, it's always there for you as well and it's available. So you don't have to keep clicking on this to access it.

[00:04:15]The other thing you can do is set up your writing style as well. That can help categorize it similar to your custom instruction. If you want bit more details around what to do with it, how to do it, I plan to record that later on as well, but feel free to ask questions in the comments below as well. But try this out, test it out. It's quite wonderful and I've been kicking out on it and trying different things from organizing my whole inbox and trying to get that converted inbox zero as well.
