Episode 2 | Casey's first look at Windfall

[00:00:06]I scratch my head trying to figure out the electrics and we pump some builders.

[00:00:27]This is great. Okay. Stand there.

[00:00:31]>> Mhm.

[00:00:31]>> And then take it off.

[00:00:40]>> She's very cool. My hair looks tiny.

[00:00:46]Holy >> Okay, let's go.

[00:00:49]>> Okay. I trust my feet.

[00:00:58]>> Yeah.

[00:01:08]>> This way.

[00:01:11]Feels bigger in real life.

[00:01:18]>> Straight into the kitchen. Now what?

[00:01:21]>> How do you make cup of tea?

[00:01:23]>> How do you make a cup of tea?

[00:01:30]>> Well, this will be your office.

[00:01:33]>> Cuz I'm the captain then.

[00:01:34]>> No, cuz you'll be stuck in the corner.

[00:02:32]Back on one full.

[00:02:35]Um, we have some battery jobs to do today.

[00:02:41]I've got those four batteries in that spot and those batteries hooked up.

[00:02:47]I have some connectors and I have to figure out all of the wiring, the solar charge controllers, all the stuff down in there, how to fix all that. So, we're going to sit and I'll probably put you on a bit of a time lapse and then we'll um figure this out.

[00:03:15]Caught in the wind.

[00:03:18]I see her boots at the corner cafe.

[00:03:33]>> I'm back at the boat. I went I had to go home last night cuz I couldn't I couldn't figure this wiring out. It's hard to follow someone else's wiring and try and figure it out. But I had a little bit of a think last night and I'm going to have to probably get someone to come have a look at it. But I've got a few things I have done. So, one thing I've I've wired these two batteries in series as you can see. Sort of got one one wire uh running to from positive to negative and then I've got a positive and a negative to go to that battery.

[00:04:12]Now, I believe they both go to the uh hang on, which way are we facing? The port engine. And then we have two more batteries for the starboard engine. Again, I believe that's the positive. And I believe that's the negative. I'm not 100. Oh, sorry. Other way around. Uh positive, negative. I believe that's the way they are around.

[00:04:40]And I've again got that wired in series.

[00:04:43]Now, as for the house batteries, I'm going to need a bit of help with these. A, I need to figure out how to fit two more into that hole.

[00:04:55]And so, I'm thinking I might make a bit of a platform sort of around the top here. I'm just going to go wider. Uh, yeah, make a bit of a platform to go around. Wires can come up and around the side.

[00:05:09]um to wire them all in parallel.

[00:05:14]Now, as for the wiring, hang, let me get down here. I believe these are all positives, including this one over here. Uh cuz they've all got positives on them. One positive there.

[00:05:30]We've got a positive.

[00:05:32]What we got there? Yeah, positive there.

[00:05:34]And I've run that to the switch. That one's from the switch.

[00:05:41]I actually have no idea what that one is, but I'm assuming it's a positive just because it's yellow. Usually yellow or red is positive.

[00:05:50]And we've got a red positive there. Uh, and then this here is obviously the ground.

[00:06:00]However, when I did a bit of a test last night and I plugged it all in, nothing happened.

[00:06:07]I had no power.

[00:06:09]So, I think I'm going to have to have someone come and have a look at it cuz I'm missing something. Maybe you might be able to tell me what it is uh in the video or in the comments, I should say.

[00:06:22]Um I mean, obviously I have my fuses and stuff. I've I've checked all the fuses.

[00:06:27]All the fuses seem to be all right.

[00:06:30]Uh, as you can see, we are getting power from the solar panels to the charge controllers. There's a little green light there. Green light there. Um, yeah. If anyone can sort of give some suggestions >> of >> this mess in here, >> it' be greatly appreciated.

[00:06:57]>> But, um, I'm going to do a couple of other jobs. Um, >> I did a couple of other jobs off camera.

[00:07:07]Um, uh, one I, uh, pulled all the injectors out of the engines.

[00:07:14]I'm going to get them properly, um, serviced and uh, then we can chuck them back in the engine. can drain the engines of the diesel and uh try and fire them up, I think. Uh but that'll be next episode. Um other than that, the the the girls came yesterday and did a bit of cleaning. So, as we can see, we're all lovely and clean down here. Let's get that piece of wood out the way. In the way. But as you can see, the girls have come and done a fabulous job of cleaning, and we are clean and tidy up in here.

[00:07:59]>> Uh, they're going to carry on today.

[00:08:03]>> The Ford. Um, another couple of jobs I did do is I installed I screwed down I should say the Simray >> chart plotter.

[00:08:18]So that will be a nice addition. I all I have to do there is uh run the power wire.

[00:08:29]But >> can't do anything about that until I've got the power actually working.

[00:08:37]>> So after not being able to figure out the wiring, we went and started pumping out the builders cuz they still had a bit of water from uh when she partially sunk. And so we but we had to do it manually because we had to uh take all the buckets all the way to a dump point.

[00:08:51]So, we filled up these 20 L containers and took them one by one to the dump point. Rigged up a little so don't have to hold them up.

[00:09:04]>> All right, doing the back of the boat now.

[00:09:07]Let's very full water in there.

[00:09:11]Pop it out into the buckets.

[00:09:18]So, >> as you can see, the water was, you know, a few inches deep, >> but most of that now we're just >> finishing off the last little bits.

[00:09:30]>> And another compartment empty of all the yucky build water. Little short episode today just cuz I have no idea what I'm doing with this wiring.

[00:09:41]It's It stumped me.
