The universe contains sound waves in the form of pressure waves traveling through hot gas in massive galaxy clusters like the Perseus Cluster, caused by supermassive black hole activity; these cosmic sound waves have frequencies so low (around 57 octaves below middle C) that a single wave cycle takes millions of years to complete, making them imperceptible to human hearing but detectable by astronomers.

The Universe has SoundAjouté :
The universe has a sound, we just can't hear it. Sound needs a medium like air, and most of space is a vacuum. But, in massive galaxy clusters, there's enough hot gas for pressure waves to travel.
In the Perseus Cluster, astronomers detected ripples [music] in the gas caused by activity from a supermassive black hole. These ripples behave like sound waves, just at an incredibly low frequency.
If translated into something we could hear, the dominant tone would be a B flat, but around 57 [music] octaves below middle C.
That's so low, it would take millions of years [music] for a single wave cycle.
So, while space may seem silent, on cosmic scale, it's filled with slow, deep vibrations. [music] More like a bass note stretched across the universe itself. [music] Enjoy today's science fact, please like and subscribe, and tune in tomorrow.
