In Doctor Who, companion characters like Clara Oswald (Claraara) demonstrate that effective character development requires genuine emotional impact on the Doctor's decisions and the narrative, rather than serving merely as aesthetic elements or plot devices; this nuanced approach creates more compelling storytelling where characters influence each other's growth and the overall story arc.

DOCTOR WHO PROBLEMS ANSWERED! ASK US ANYTHING! [Satellite 5 Ep 37]
Added:Hello everybody and welcome back to another edition of the satellite 5. It's it's not 40 degrees today. I'm quite grateful of that.
>> Lovely cool evening actually.
>> This week we asked you on our well on the confused daddy pose Instagram. Go and check it out guys. Uh I asked you imagine we're a hotline. Okay. Any advice you need or Doctor Who related questions, come to us and we will answer it in this epic >> because nobody has done a hotline for a Doctor Who podcast before episode.
>> Dear Dolly, >> so I've got to say Arty, I don't imagine you've ripped anyone off, have you?
>> Well, to be fair, I I came up with the idea and I do not listen to any Doctor Who do podcast.
>> That's what I mean. I think we should contact [music] >> check it's all okay >> right RIGHT [laughter] >> FOR NOT EVEN A minute >> restart let's just restart you >> yeah start the episode >> hello everyone [laughter] welcome back to the satellite 5 podcast [laughter] >> attempt to one week one week we're going to start this and it's going to go smoothly it's going to be fine Fine.
It's going to be acceptable. We're not going to cause any drama or put our postcodes on screen again, are we, Arthur? But how are we all feeling this week?
>> We're feeling so good. It's not 40°.
It's quite cool, but it is4 to 11.
>> And that was your weather forecast for the evening. Uh, [laughter] >> can I also just quickly say that um I deliberately chose an appropriate outfit for this podcast because um I know that there were some complaints despite the fact that it was near 40° last episode and I wasn't about to change for a Doctor Who podcast. Um I did pick this top. It now looks a little bit like my skin tone, but I am wearing a top so you can all keep your thoughts to yourselves.
>> Was this list?
>> I like no apology. my my dress and my attire. Just going to apologize.
>> I'm not scared to be seen. Nobody.
>> Rosanna, you've you've moved house, haven't you?
>> Well, >> yeah.
[laughter] >> If if Rosanna keeps disappearing, by the way, because we're trying to one take this because, as you can probably see, I'm absolutely shattered and once again have no time. But Rosanna is currently she's got no Wi-Fi in her new house, but she's here. Maybe here in spirit. Let's I feel like we're doing a Ouija board.
Like Rosanna, are you there?
>> I'm not dead yet.
>> There we go. She's alive. She might be like two pixels, but she is here. But this >> It was also my birthday yesterday. Just [laughter] >> happy birthday.
>> Thank you. Thanks.
>> Do you normally clap for a birthday?
Happy birthday.
>> No.
>> Bad news though. It's coming home.
>> It is. Oh my.
>> Oh my god. When this video goes out, we'll either be in the final or not. And it will be like a few hours before the final.
>> It won't be us playing though.
>> Yes, it will.
>> Yes, it [clears throat] will. We're going to We beat those Vikings.
>> Then we're going to play Argentina.
>> Then we're going to play >> Argentina. They're rigging it. Yeah, it's >> Do you have a clue what they're talking about? I do, but as a Welshman, I just cannot bring myself to uh indulge.
[laughter] >> Uh, you know, let's move on before we have to hear another [laughter] depend.
>> Right. Today, viewers, >> we're doing agony aunt episode >> over on the confused Daddy Po's Instagram. I asked you guys, this was Arty's suggestion, by the way. Arty was like, "All these cool podcasts, they do like a little hotline episode." Um, I don't I don't know how successful this is going to be. I haven't read properly full the comments that I've put in the group chat, but we've screenshotted a bunch. Um, and yeah, imagine I said, "Imagine we're a hotline." Okay.
>> Yeah, there's no heaven. Sorry.
[laughter] >> You got finished.
>> Carry on.
>> Imagine Imagine we're a hotline. Come to us with your Doctor Who questions or your general questions. I think most of them are going to be Doctor Who because I don't think I was actually clear enough with what I was doing. But also, I'm very sleepd deprived cuz once again, it's Patch's fault. We were out recording the close-ups of Patches till past 3:00 in the morning last night to get that musical number done for notes to sell.
>> J is an [ __ ] I'm sorry I said it.
>> Yeah, he's he's an icon, but he's he's he's a difficult puppet to work with, I'm afraid. You should write into one of the many other podcasts that has an agony on vibe and just be like, I'm working with this guy on set [laughter] who needs 500 takes.
>> Reddit, what what what's it called on the the Am I the [ __ ] The Reddit.
Anyway, >> am I the [ __ ] >> Am I the ATA?
>> This guy's so bad at acting, I've hired someone to shove their hand in the back of his face. [laughter] But who has up our first Satellite 5 hotline question?
>> I do.
>> Davos Saxon asks, "I accidentally made a time lord pregnant, but she regenerated into a man. What's going to happen to the [laughter] >> baby?"
>> What a question to start this off.
>> And that's what this hotline is for, guys. Uh, what's going to happen to the >> Does the fetus regenerate as well, do you reckon?
>> Into what?
>> Well, this is actually this is actually a pro-choice debate because are we going from the perspective that the fetus Yeah, thank you. Are we going from the perspective that the that the fetus is part of? How far along in the pregnancy are we if it's a female time? Also, they don't give they hang on. They don't give birth like that, do they?
>> How do looms real? I think it's going to turn into an avocado scenario. Was that his name in the ping episode in the Saranga Conundrum?
>> A bloke. Yeah, >> his name was Avocado, wasn't it?
>> Probably.
>> But yeah, >> watch the Saranga Conundrum in the past decade. [laughter] >> I love that cuz decade is longer than when it was released.
>> So the viewing [clears throat] figures episode, we know.
Um, >> not very many.
>> Uh, honestly, I don't know. Uh, is my honest answer [laughter] to that.
>> What?
>> It's a time lord debate, Arty. Let's keep it within the realm of fiction.
>> It's very early on in the pregnancy. It is still part of the DNA. What?
>> So, it regenerates as a kid, right? So, like you don't have to be an adult to regenerate necessarily because uh in the in the series 6 one she's like a kid.
>> Why are you actually trying to answer this?
>> I DON'T KNOW. [screaming] >> WHAT DO YOU WANT?
>> Say something.
>> If it goes back into a man, maybe it turns into a sperm and then it's just sperming around until the regeneration turns into a woman. [laughter] >> Right. So, okay. I wish you hadn't said that actually. Sarah Nolton one asks how to stop word vomiting.
>> Um, [laughter] >> do I do it?
>> We're really no one on this podcast has figured it out yet.
>> Yeah.
>> So, why are you asking us? [laughter] >> Terrible.
>> I Who Who's the most qualified to answer that question here?
>> The Barbie pillow.
>> No. [laughter] >> Like angle to me.
I don't know who you're pointing at.
>> Wish >> what? I feel like I'm trying to decipher.
>> Say that art is the most qualified because you will just you won't speak sometimes.
>> No, but then when I do speak it is only word vomit. It's >> what are we classing as word vomit?
>> Cuz isn't that when you just go >> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Whereas arty arty stops about halfway. [laughter] >> Feel feel more comfortable with pauses.
Wait until you know what you want to say. But while you're filling those pauses, don't stutter.
>> Just keep spamming spamming the last word. That's Arty's method.
But also if like you start a sentence and then you pause and you've decided you don't want to finish that sentence, just know that no one around you will let you stop talking.
>> You should >> you'll just be berated until you finish the sentence you now regret. So >> the amount of times Arty, even this weekend, Arty would just be like we we'd be driving in the car. He he'd be in the back and he'd just say like, "Oh, and I was thinking and then just stop and we're like, "What are you talking about?" And he goes, "It was internal."
when it it wasn't was [laughter] it was very external and I want to know what the the end of the sentence was.
>> Arty speaks basically exclusively in cliffhers.
[laughter] >> SO LIKE >> SOMEONE ELSE TALK.
>> YEAH, >> they should put someone else talk at the end of Doctor Who episodes instead of to be continued.
>> Somebody else talk. I think you should surround yourself with people that you can have comfortable silences with so you'll get >> comfortable what [laughter] >> I'm going to go check on the bat stuff >> Tardis enjoyer >> hang on what's Elise checking on >> the pasta >> sorry are we interrupting a lovely little meal [laughter] here I like a big [laughter] >> we were getting earlier as well what we I is getting Arie and Elise to recreate Doomsday with that wall in the middle.
>> Can we get that live on the podcast, do you reckon?
>> No, she's busy with the pasta.
>> Boo, >> I think to quickly add a bit of >> Oh, yeah. No, there you go. See, go on.
Go on.
>> Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it.
>> This is the doomsday sequel we all wanted.
>> It's going low angle, though.
[laughter] >> Why is Arty doing convinced? I don't quite think that's what David >> is [laughter] close. Bend your knees.
[clears throat] >> Arty seemingly got David Hen confused with the hunchback of Notraam. But that's fine. [laughter] That's fine.
>> Hardest enjoyer said you're not you when you're hungry. Have a meal deal and munch those troubles away.
>> Imagine. Fair enough. I don't get what question that would. [laughter] >> We haven't.
>> We haven't answered a single one.
>> Needs no advice. He needs no life. He's got us.
>> Need a life for.
>> Nobody needs a life when they've got the satellite 5 podcast.
>> I feel like when when Arty and Elise are together, it looks like sort of like a parents evening POV shot. Like I'm imagining like a teacher on the other side.
>> While you Yeah. Go on.
>> There you go.
>> Okay. While you guys were not on the Zoom link, Rosanna was giving us a tour around the house and it was like our kid had gone away to university [laughter] and she's just going here's my on suite.
[laughter] >> Here's the kitchen. Here's the living room.
>> What was the first question? Cuz let's actually answer them. What what quickly [laughter] answer to that is the baby would become self-sufficient and come out of the time lord as a baby time lord >> depend depending on when depending on when the pregnancy was. Also, time lords don't don't have babies that way, do you?
>> Yeah, they do. Looms aren't cannon.
>> I don't care. [laughter] >> And then the second, so that's that's the answer to the first one. Second question, >> second one was how to stop word vomiting. There was become >> stop word vomiting. Um, >> become comfortable with pauses. Surround yourself with people who will allow that.
>> Yeah, >> I think partly but also I would just say keep talking. It'll be fine.
>> And then Tardis Enjoyer didn't ask a question. He answered everyone else's.
You know, it was >> he answered every question ever.
>> It's a moment of enlightenment. No, it's not 42. It's have a meal deal.
[laughter] >> I think I'm too attractive. I don't know what to do.
>> That's Sam from Silus Industries.
>> Sam, >> a problem we all face.
>> Uh, how can we help the hottest members of the podcast? [laughter] >> It's true. It's true.
>> How do we help Sam with being too attractive? What What advice can we give? Uh, get a kidney in.
>> A what injection?
>> Get a kidney infection. It makes you quite grim looking.
>> Excuses from experience.
[clears throat] >> Excuses is wild. [laughter] >> Well, no. We've got to we've got to give Arty and you you are the only qualified ones to answer this question. So, we do have to hand this over to you.
>> Arty, do you want to go first?
>> Well, >> how do you handle it? [snorts] >> How do I handle [laughter] it? It's It's difficult. It's the same It's got the same sort of pressure as like you know that YouTube fame that you get on Tik Tok. I know it's so overwhelming.
But Sam, >> you'll get used to it and eventually you'll love it. [laughter] >> See, the problem is for me is that I have the sexiness and the YouTube fame.
So from my perspective, you know, how do I vote? It's it's [clears throat] a mindboggling conundrum. I think you just embrace yourself and if you know that you're sexy within yourself, then the sexiness of others will become less uh important.
>> Let's start a Doctor Who podcast. They said it'll be fun. They [laughter] said >> answer that was I like that.
>> That was a great answer, Ferris. Okay, that's Sam. I hope that satisfies you.
Um okay, what's our next question? It's from Sam again and it is, "How do you convince someone to know someone you know to watch Doctor Who?
I've tried everything."
>> Um, >> well, I'll tell you what you don't do, Sam, is you don't start from the church on Ruby Road because that's a good point. Space babies. Start with Space Babies.
>> I think you you just don't give them a choice. You just You're They're at your house.
>> Out of context and put it on Twitter.
That's not what I [laughter] You just when they're at your house, you just have it on and then eventually through like continued proddding and social engineering, you'll eventually convince them you'll eventually convince them to watch it. And that would be my advice.
>> How do you do it when you harass everyone in the pub?
>> Well, I don't This is the thing. I've I've really struggled with this on a personal basis because one of my best friends and her boyfriend I I've really really really tried um I've put it on the morning after a night out when they're hung over. That didn't work.
I've put it on when we came back from a night out.
>> That didn't work.
>> That didn't work. Put it on at tea time.
That didn't work. And I think you you kind of have to come to the realization that not everyone is going to like Doctor Who. But Rosanna, what would you do? Um, I my best friend Beth has doesn't like anything Doctor Whoy or sci-fi. So before she fell asleep, I put on the best episode ever, Waters on Mars. And did she watch it? Yeah. Did she say it was good? Yeah. Has she watched an episode since? No.
>> But if I THINK MAYBE [laughter] THAT'S [screaming] >> NO, NO, NO, NO. BUT if she was in my if she was with me right now and I said, "Should we put Doctor Who on?" She'd be she'd be like, "Yeah, >> maybe that's what you do." Rather than picking like the start of a series or something where you get a commitment, you pick the episodes that are just like movies, just a like a short story that they will like, like Midnight or Blink or Was of Mars.
>> So, I put on um I've tried a few with Danny and Anna and I've put on The Girl in the Fireplace, which Danny said was too scary. I've put on Unicorn and the Wasp, which Danny said was too scary.
[clears throat] to the point wherever I mention Doctor Who now [laughter] he goes there's not going to be a big wasp in it is there and Anna just >> Danny is scared of >> Danny is 6'4 he said that the unicorn was scary [laughter] >> I've lost they're very kind they kind of humor me like one time we went on holiday together and uh they woke me up from a nap and I was really moody so they made me feel better by watching Doctor Who but [clears throat] the most they stretched to >> by dog came in. Sorry, I THOUGHT A GHOST. I THOUGHT I was going to say I thought a polter ghost had come in.
>> It's a wasp.
>> I do think though with with Doctor Who, I I said this around the time of Disney and it's why I was so excited for the Disney Plus era to take place because when you actually look at it, there isn't a good starting point anymore because anyone who didn't grow up with it, it is dated now. Like it's a great show, but no, but it is dated. Like if you start with Rose, the burping bin or some of the stuff in that, it is very dated. The effects, whatever, it is dated. The 11th hour maybe, but I >> I was about to say the 11th hour.
>> I'd say series 5 is just mid like that's not enough.
>> I agree that I wouldn't want someone to start with Matt Smith because they're missing all the good stuff. But if you I do think Matt Smith's era is the closest to like um sort of modern trash TV like the CW or like the Rookie or something like that. Got that >> vibe because love it. That's the thing.
And that's what I've really struggled with. Like but I've got this amazing love for this. Then why don't you get it too? But some don't get it. No. Because I feel like >> I don't think Matt Smith's era is trash TV. I need to make that clear. I think it's very good TV. I can't lie, guys.
I'm the queen of converting people because Adam, he hasn't watched Doctor Who and now he has. If Don't Please don't take that sentence out of context.
>> But like Adam, he now watches all of Doctor Who cuz people Oh, can no one hear me? Converting. Queen of conversing people. I get you. I get that's what you didn't want taken out of Got it. I was like, >> I became so good at doing that because I'll be like, "Oh, yes. It's like whatever."
But people have like ro you underestimate Rose looks dated. Okay. I watched Buffy and that was the 90s. I watch XF Files and that's 90s as well.
They look dead as hell. It's nostalgia.
>> But that was a time capsule in itself.
My only 17year-old Oh, I'm really I'm too cool for school. Like she's really cool. She's really like cool and popular in school. And she watched Doctor Who from the Russell T. Davies era because she era cuz she was like it's so Y2K.
>> But that's the I think it fits a certain type of person. But as for a general audience, it is a very difficult show to get into because not only are the best starting point is series one with Eckleston and stuff cuz you can't even start with Tenant because that's trash.
Like New Earth is just cringe. Like you can't start there.
>> Well, [clears throat] no, but you wouldn't anyway. It's >> But this is the thing. Then your other option, series 5, which I'd say isn't that good and isn't you're skipping the best.
>> Yeah. That's just cuz you're a [ __ ] But that's not >> where where'd you go after that? There isn't a good jumping on point because then you've got the Whitaker era. No.
Then you've got the Disney era.
Absolutely not. Like I was going to say like you could not like I was saying earlier like making it not a commitment. Do series 10 as a limited series. Just show them that.
>> But I don't think I don't agree with this. I think if you're not going to enjoy it from the beginning, just don't watch it. There's other TV out there.
No, I know. I know. I know. Everyone's But if someone if someone is starting from Matt Smith, unless this is a person if this is a person that I think is only going to enjoy it from the point of Matt Smith and then have to go like I don't think that it's for them.
>> Can I be honest? Can I give a take on this? Right. I think people put way too much stock in where to start. And the reason I say that is because when I was the way I started was literally I just watched The Next Doctor one random Christmas day as a child and like you know obviously I didn't get all of it >> and fake.
>> Yeah. Yeah. You you you keep saying you watched Rose. You definitely didn't remember any of it. [clears throat] >> Happen. You'd have been you would have been not even one years old. One year old.
>> I would have been I would have been one and a half.
No, you wouldn't. You'd have been one and two months.
>> One and two months.
>> You were not watching Rose at one and two months and remembering it.
>> Yes, I do. [laughter] >> I have a I have a I have another question that maybe just might bring the mood down a bit. But um we're all in such high spirits already. [laughter] >> But you know, I love Doctor Who and I will never stop watching it. But I don't know if I would want someone to like get into it now. Cuz if someone if you got someone to like binge Doctor Who >> and start at series 1, then they'll just be sad because they'll get to where we are now.
>> But this is exactly what I was trying to say with the jumping on point thing of like when you it's it's like classic who because it's so it's run for so long.
Like not only does it look dated, but there's so much of it. It's almost like difficult to wade through. What was really nice in 2005 is you just sort of went, "This is a new show. Start here."
We don't have >> You're not doing that with Space Babies.
>> But that's the problem. Disney should have been that. And I imagine whatever comes next will be that. But >> I hope to god it is cuz if it's not then there is no >> also for a viewer of Doctor Who you've got episodes like school reunion Dalek you know >> I do think >> slowly getting the law >> I do think to a certain extent like if you just watch a good episode like I think that's the thing like I think a lot of people end up starting watching it >> like when it's just happens to be on do you know what I mean like I think most >> in the age of streaming that's less and less True. That's that's I think that's the problem with the streaming thing is people expect if they're going to watch a show they want to start on episode one and watch. Whereas >> when Doctor Who was on Netflix people would just casually watch it. It's like I watch casually watch Benador. I casually watch Abbert Elementary. I casually watch Gra.
>> It's just about bringing new people in.
I honestly don't know what the answer to that question is.
>> Set up a watch party. Don't just watch it with the person you're recommending.
Get someone around who also likes Doctor Who. Get a couple of people around who haven't seen it before. Have have some snacks, have some drinks, have a good old time, and stick on Waters of Mars because that is a great suggestion for a first episode. Shall we go to Harrison Coleman? Just before we do, I'd say the key is as well semi-ticking them into watching it because there is nothing more annoying than going, "You have to watch this. It's the best thing ever."
Then sit down, make them watch it, and it's not that good. Like Doctor Who is it's I don't know how to describe it.
It's not something that you'd necessarily look at with aesthetic beauty and go, "That's perfect." But once you get to know it, you love it for what it is.
>> Guys, I've got another idea.
>> Go [laughter] on.
>> This worked on my housemate Zoe, who's also been in one of these videos. Shout out Zoe. I miss you. Um, get really depressed one night and then force her to put it on to make you feel better and then she goes, "Oh, I quite like this."
>> Well, there you go. Yeah, because then they also they'll they'll try and like it because they're trying to appease you and make you less upset. [laughter] >> And also doing showing them how different it can be. And I got my my cousin was sort of sat there with us while we while me and my sisters watched Doctor Who once and he was like not really he was kind of half on his phone, half watching it, but we watched The Well, and then we watched Midnight and he was like, "Wait, is this the same show?" Like, "Wait, are they both the doctor then?" He was kind of getting it and I was like, "Yeah, you know, there's just something for everyone." This is a boy that like will not like when I put it on at Christmas, he walks out the room.
>> To be fair, understandable for the recent Christmas specials. To be fair, >> I'm the boy with a damned.
>> Yeah. [laughter] >> So good.
>> Terrifying.
>> Right. Harrison Coleman has a question specifically for Joe and that is how can he deal with the lack of Echo the Musical? I know it is. It's a difficult one.
>> That's common. You're the people's princess right now.
[laughter] >> Um, you can deal with it by >> We all know where this is going.
>> Checking out Notes [clears throat] to Self, an independent musical short film which >> starring the Echo Doctor.
>> Starring Starring the Echo Doctor in the lead role. And I was editing the No, none of you were there for it. I was about the art. You you know the script, the scene between the echo doctor and Madame President from the Echo films.
That little moment, >> it is so lovely.
>> Those great.
>> Also, you know, maybe not now, but when it's out, you could just have two monitors and have a Joe Street musical and the Echo Destiny and just watch them at the same time. Genius. Genius. Just keep switching between the sound of the two and see [laughter] >> Hope is not lost.
>> Or I I I might be bullied into making it a Edinburgh Fringe show, Echoes the Musical, because Ellie and Charlie keep going. That should be the next project.
That should be the next project. So maybe it'll be a live theater piece rather than a film and you you could attend. Everyone be there. Great fun.
Okay, next question.
Um, he also asks, and this is Harrison Coleman again, um, how can us satellite 5 fans help out Rosanna? How can they do it, Ro?
>> Um, don't know.
>> Well, what a great give a good answer because you are Harrison Coleman's favorite female uh host on the podcast.
So, >> you decided we could do Rosanna, send Joe PayPal. Get him to put it in the description. [laughter] I know. No, I know what you can do.
>> Rosanna Rosanna wants you to give money to notes to self the crowdfunder.
>> Yeah. And then [clears throat] Joe will transfer it back to me.
>> No, [laughter] I won't. We're already thousands of pounds over budget.
>> Joe's Lawrence Jones with four with the text.
>> It's because I'm I'm so ill. I couldn't be in the film and I'm so sad cuz I'VE GOT NO LIFE. I'm so bored.
It is a shame that you couldn't be there because it was so much fun. You'd have enjoyed it as well. It was Oh, but you'll be there on on the next show.
>> I don't think I will. I'm really ill.
>> You've got a month.
>> I believe you'll be recovered as well.
>> Yeah.
>> Do you know what I have to do in an hour? Are you ready?
>> Sorry to talk about my medical issues. I have to inject myself.
>> Oh god. With what? How >> um with drugs.
>> With drugs.
>> How dare you burden this podcast with your medical issues. Rosanna [laughter] Highly highly highly inappropriate.
>> It's so boring. I hate it. But I can't see you girl. I can't do meetups cuz imagine we're like all having a little laugh talking about Doctor Who and I'm like, "Sorry guys, [laughter] >> you could do that. That would be quite funny." Actually, I I volunteered to stab you in the leg. You don't have to stab me in the leg. You have to stab me in the I've got I look like a heroin addict. I've got like [laughter] all over my belly. And I'm like >> and swiftly moving this hotline back to what we were talking about. Um what was what was the question we were just answering?
>> The question was how can they help out Rosanna?
>> Um I think all I don't know pray pray to Rosanna. That's that's >> we are Rosanna. See, see if we can get you know why they in um sound of drums they get the doctor to start levitating all thinking his name. If everyone thinks Rosanna at the same time connected by Starlink, Rosanna will start levitating.
>> Star.
>> I don't need anyone to think about me.
What I do need everyone to do though is listen to Beyonce and Haley Williams.
That's it. [laughter] [gasps] [snorts] >> All right.
>> Any more questions? Wilson, keep it film real asks, "How many episodes is the right amount per series?" Runtime is also up for debate. Now, Wilson, we'll forgive you this time, but this is not the Doctor Who question segment of the show. This is when we help you with your personal problems.
>> No, this this is specifically says it can be Doctor Who questions. We've also been answering Doctor Who questions.
WHAT ARE YOU ON? [laughter] >> THE BEST QUESTION. NO, there was a doctor question.
>> There was a do there was a Doctor Who question before, but that was because they got a time lord pregnant.
[laughter] >> That was a personal issue, >> right?
>> In the world of Doctor Who.
>> We helped them out.
>> You're not committed to the bit.
>> I I think ready 12 episodes in a special making it 13 45 minutes free to powerhouse. The problem with the question, it's a very good question, but like I just want as much and as high quality a Doctor Who as possible. So I suppose it's >> episodes three hours long.
>> Well, it's what what is that ratio? What is the the sweet spot?
>> It's 45 minutes.
>> Yeah. 45 minutes.
>> 13 episodes, >> three quarters. That's what I want.
>> I don't know.
>> I want three breakfast episodes. Okay. I want one golden like one like [clears throat] or maybe two.
>> Don't you want them all golden though?
Wouldn't that be?
>> No. I We enjoy Unicorn and the Wasp. We enjoy >> What is going on between them, too?
>> Yeah. Do you guys mind? Yeah. Sorry. Are we interrupting?
>> Oh, we're back. We're back.
>> Oh, we're back.
>> Really blend for a while.
>> Also, like those episodes like um you know, Smith and Jones, they're great to get drunk too.
I I like don't know though whether it's like 45 minutes is still fit for purpose.
>> I don't think it works anymore.
>> That's that's my argument. Like I you know >> how do you feel about like all two parties you guys >> depends cuz they tried it with series 9.
>> I think the thing mostly it's just if it's good there was I've seen a lot of people suggesting as well and I think I I can't remember it might have been Sam from Cyber Industries. shout out. But someone was saying in one of the live streams I did the other day about having like um I I it was like if you do cereals spread out across the year. So you get like four episodes of one self-contained story for Christmas, four episodes middle of the year. So you've got constant Doctor Who and they're each small classic. I like that idea. I think that works. I think they instead of doing four episodes, I I I actually think it would be great if the show just released four like hour 10-minute specials a year.
>> Yeah. You know, when we when we did our like episode thingy, me and Arty had a really good idea of like harvest festival.
[clears throat] >> The harvest special, [laughter] >> guys. Honestly, >> off my harvest is only a few months away. We're going [laughter] to have to do a hell of a special.
>> The special is going to be so good.
Imagine, right? The Christmas special was cancelled.
>> The Christmas special was cancelled, but you know, they didn't say anything about the harvest. [laughter] >> We get we get an unexpected harvest festival special where we see what Billy Piper does.
>> It's [laughter] an absolute hoot. She goes like >> seasons of Doctor Who and it being like we've got >> autumn harvest, [laughter] >> Valentine's Day summer.
>> I like the Valentine's Doctor Who. I think that is >> I like eight. Even if it's eight episodes, we know we've got eight weeks of Doctor Who. I like that kind of getting excited for a series.
>> But then what do I know? I did sociology, not film. Sorry, guys.
>> Okay, nice. Next question.
>> I'm not like other girls.
>> Would [clears throat] you >> would you have preferred the Christmas special instead of look 14th Doctor Who again? We'll we'll forgive you this time, but this is the agony aunt episode. Okay.
>> Um, would you have preferred the Christmas special instead of the state of the cancelled show?
>> I mean, monetarily, yes.
>> Yes.
>> Well, that's the like I think for the health of the show going forward, it's probably for the best. But I I love Doctor Who. I love Ross Davies, Billy Piper, etc. That would have been sick to see on Christmas Day. Like that would have been exciting. Uh there's always more Doctor Who is good Doctor Who.
>> It would have still.
>> Also, I still I still feel like having an actual ending to the era would be better than like >> not having one, the boss. What's all that about?
>> At least at least if there's like a final some sort of final episode, [clears throat] it's like, oh, there's closure then. Whereas where we've been left now is very like >> oh well that was >> let's just sweep that under [laughter] the cover will decide >> I feel like we've were promised for years about a Christmas special and the fact that it >> hasn't even been a year >> wasn't even written like >> it was written >> definitely and this is my chair I'm sat in it Russell >> [laughter] >> I just find it a bit like oh I would have loved to see I would have just loved to see if like even if what for one episode they would have just went through with it you know >> that's the thing is >> but I think long term it's probably for the best >> probably cuz like it probably wouldn't have helped the perception of the show as where as what it was >> out [laughter] on a big high that would have been amazing for >> but would it have been a big either or would it have been a cluster [ __ ] >> I'm a relentless optimist who gets complained about to the nth degree in the comments for always being optimistic about Doctor Who, but even I can look and go like realistically there's almost no chance that that Christmas special would have pleased everyone in a satisfying way. Like >> it's not going to please everyone, but everyone [clears throat] would have been pleased that there was more Doctor Who.
We wouldn't because I still that podcast in which Joe had the realization that at Christmas when we're still >> that there was going to be the chance of the doctor saying I love you to Rose that kind of the feeling we all felt in those moments. I'm glad that we didn't have a Christmas special if that would have been the Christmas.
>> It could it couldn't it couldn't have.
It couldn't. They wouldn't.
>> The thing is though, right, that as much as I love the 60th, it does kind of ruin series 4 a little bit. Like, >> yeah, but I want team no 60th then.
>> It actually does ruin it. I rewatched Thank you very much. I rewatched the um the end of series 4 not long ago and there's there's a sour taste in my mouth. That's my favorite series of television ever. Like that's better than Downtown season 4. It's like season 3.
>> Come on now. If like you can't [gasps] anyway >> see I I don't know. I like the >> watch down season 3. [laughter] >> Join me in the comments.
>> I like the 60 and I'll die on the >> It's good, but you can't deny it does slightly take away from the impact of series 4.
>> I think though for me like there was still 16 years of real time where those those events had still happened. So for me it's kind of like >> no it just doesn't hit the same especially because it like if the 60th was a absolute perfect masterpiece I think it would be fine but it's because it's it's a very mixed bag of like bits that are really really good bits that are a bit naff it's like your overall perception of Donna as a character by the end is like it just doesn't quite hit it just doesn't quite And to know that the meta crisis was solved so simply, >> flippantly.
>> Yeah. It's like cuz it's a good idea. I think it makes sense like it passes on to the child, but like you could I don't know. And then even just down to like there was no ceremony to it. Like the the starbeast ends with Donna spilling coffee and that's the reason they get >> That's a very that's a very like that's that's fine though. I'd say that's a very Donna way of that happening.
>> I just think it would be like just Oh, actually I feel like Never mind.
>> No, Arty, this is what we were saying at the start of this podcast. [laughter] You've got to speak your truth.
>> Hate the line.
>> And I hat I I hate the line. And I do think this is the worst part. Your male presenting um just wouldn't understand.
I'm sorry. But no, unacceptable. He's been a man for what?
>> Unacceptable.
[laughter] >> Like he at this point he doesn't even know why he is that male presenting time lord. Like are you saying that like two days ago he would have got it? He would have been like oh I understand but now no piss off makes no sense.
>> We discussed this.
>> Rerez asks help me like Claraara. I just dislike her and Capaldi's era. Tell me reasons why it's good. And what I like about this is this is a Doctor Who one, but it was phrased in an agony armed way. Ask >> I can I can answer that very very very easily. Watch the snowmen.
>> You're actually so perverted.
Hey, I didn't say anything. I just I >> Although Victoria and Claraara, no, Victoria and Claraara wins. Um, I will say I had a period of time where I did not like Claraara and then Yas came in and I loved Claraara. [laughter] >> Yeah, that's a good that's actually a really good way of looking at think about how much worse it got and then when you come back you go, you know what, >> you can like Claraara in the same way that we all now kind of look fondly on the Jodie era. It's like we [laughter] But I I think with Clara as well, what you've got to understand is it she's kind of like one of the last well-ritten companions to have like an arc.
>> It is yearning. It is.
>> Yeah. He has >> she argues and you know like Bill's brilliant but Bill Bill didn't have enough seasons to like fully like like she tried to hit him fair enough but like Clara they >> I do think the thing with Claraara you get so many like I there's such a good character through line like people always go ah she's not a character in series 7b I don't as a kid I loved that like I think maybe it is just the doctor who sort of grew up on him fully got into the show and but it literally like series 7B slaps series 8 her and Kapali's rocky relationship's great series 9 they're comfortable with each other she's becoming >> we can't be saying her and Kapaldi's relationship in series 8 is great >> it is so repetitive and dull I'm sorry Danny Pink is >> talk push him off the chair [laughter] >> go on speak your mind >> you can't push her back. [laughter] >> Oh, see that's a mate that's been caught on camera. That's a violation.
>> Siri [laughter] is a plot function, but a plot has to function.
>> So, but she's also a character.
>> I think said that I think that actually >> uh she's an aesthetic part. Maybe my Claraara loveness is showing up. Because >> there's there's Dalek Claraara, who I love, and and then Victorian Clara.
>> She's an aesthetic.
>> She's also You have to like Claraara in series 7B cuz she looks great. [laughter] What is that?
>> I'm not saying she doesn't mean >> she doesn't do any harm to the aesthetics of the episodes. She, you know, I understand not loving her as a character in series 7B because she's just replaced this like really like No, I get it, Joe. I know. I know you love her in that and that and I you know, all power to you.
>> Loves her for the aesthetic of the show.
>> That's my personal that's my personal relationship with Clara in 07. But, you know, she comes into herself in the Capaldi era because suddenly this whole like pretty young companion thing doesn't really work anymore. She's still a pretty young companion, but she's not there as this pining sort of, oh, I love you, the doctor, I mean, I mean, I mean, but [laughter] it's it's beautiful because they're more than friends and less than lovers and it's just this be Oh, it's just amazing.
It's just like because it's it's it's so nuanced >> and I've had three cosmopolitans and I can't quite find the word. I think we can we can tell actually [laughter] >> I'm finish >> me cuz I can't drink for [ __ ] ages to drink.
[snorts] >> No, but hang on. In answer to the question, how do we help? That's how do we help them?
>> Watch some Tik Tok edits.
>> Watch Yeah. What? No, I think appreciate Jenna Coleman's acting because that is the strongest part about Clara. And then on top of that, you watch every >> I think she's probably the best actress.
And I would also I still think the prescription of think about what came after and then with hindsight look back at it go >> I think as well ignore any YouTube video from that time period about Doctor Who because we spoke about this the other week but they're all like I love Stu Bagful to death but like best Doctor Who YouTube channel I'd say honestly peak but I cannot disagree more with his older takes about Claraara and there's just I I think everyone of that time hated Claraara and there was such a uproar and as says just look at everything that's come since apart from Bill and and then Clara Clara seems like >> thinking about it in hindsight you know how everyone sort of said oh it's Claraara who the Claraara show all of that sort of stuff do you reckon that's sort of a and I'm not saying that everyone who had criticisms with Claraara by the way was like this but I wonder if that's a prerequisite like like a sort of precursor rather to like the reaction to when Jodie was cast cuz I remember there was sort of a sense I'm not saying from like everyone who had criticisms by the way but I think there was a sense of this woman is becoming more of the central character [laughter] >> I think there was definitely some of that but I also think >> yes >> but I also think that like Rose was definitely the main character of the show for two series >> and then when she left the doctor kind of took took that role and definitely was the main character for so long. And then Claraara feels like Rose in that same way. It feels like you're seeing the Doctor through her. Like they they use her struggling with the doctor's age to convince the audience the doctor's allowed to be old that like Claraara was such a vehicle for it for the audience in a way that there hadn't been for such a long time. And I think that it was getting reaclimatized to that.
I think also people take issue with how impactful she became within the charact that I would agree with. went back in time and grabbed the doctor's leg as a kid and all of that stuff which I actually >> and like picked out picked out the TARDIS in like >> the thing is though I think it works like I I think as much as like on paper you can go oh yeah that's annoying as I've said before like which feels like one of the wilder takes I have but Name of the Doctor is probably the episode that solidified me as a Doctor Who fan.
>> It's crazy.
But seeing like the companion that I cared about go and meet all those past doctors made me go, okay, I need to see the adventures of Tom.
>> I kind of get it. I think it was a really good gateway into like this is it isn't just the show, you know, there's all this history. There's all this old stuff. Go and watch all of it. Like I Oh, it's such I love series 7. I just think just really quickly just just still on this on the clar holdy point is look you've you've got the it's it's so interesting to me to watch a doctor companion dynamic where it's not just happy clappy and I know that at this point in the show we didn't have these happy clappy companions and I know that now maybe it's the it's the hindsight of having just watched Ruby and then Belinda where you know they they kind of create this tension but it goes nowhere but that tension means something in the Claraara and Compi Capoldi era like it actually has an impact on the character decisions made. It feels like these characters actually affect the plot and the decisions they make. Like I mean I know that we're not massive f I actually don't know but generally people aren't massive fans of Death in Heaven and that uh that two-parter. I loved it because I think I just that is that is Claraara having an impact on the doctor's life and I think that is so refreshing to see not just someone that just you know follows him around or does this and obviously we didn't always have that at that point but this was Amy and Rory I love them for the TV I love them I think they're an amazing dynamic but Claraara really impacted the decisions that the doctor took and his her his character Capaldi's final you know series 10 end of Kapaldi. He wouldn't have been that person without CL.
>> I know exactly what >> I agree with you. But what I know face was I was just I was just making sure you didn't uh bismerch the good name of my uh >> No, but my love stink. I'm sorry.
>> No, they don't. Shut up. [laughter] >> They don't actually. They're very good.
But they are towards the bottom of Companions.
>> No, they're not. They're not even close.
But what I was going to say with the leaves, what I really agree with, I think the biggest point here is >> I want the characters in my show to have an impact on each other and the narrative and they haven't done that in so many years like series [clears throat] with any other character. If you invent another character and put her into any episode of the last season of Doctor Who, the season exactly.
>> Well, that's because I reckon she was swapped. [laughter] But but this is the thing like Ruby and the Doctor all the ground like the foundations are there for it to work.
The found family thing the like Dr. Thomas all of that like there's really solid foundation but they just don't quite go anywhere. But I'm hoping October Russell's autobiography come on Ross tell us the original.
>> I I still think it's going to be like so watered down. It will be >> really really quickly sum up this one because you can't just have a character that is just all of this and she's gonna be this and she's gonna be this and she's gonna be this and it doesn't just come together and make a character. And I get this all the time with reading when it gets like tropey. It's like okay well you can't just give me this trope and expect me to like it because I like that trope. You have to it has to be a person that weaves themselves among those things. And Claraara does that.
For me personally that's how you like her. Nor 6589 asks, "How can I deal with the fact that Doctor Who is gone? Can you believe that?"
>> um, >> you know what? I've been dealing with it fairly better than I was anticipating myself to deal with it.
>> I did love there was Well, just before you say that, there was a call like like two or three weeks ago with the Zen and it really cracked me up because it genuinely sounded like you were sort of some like addict. You were like Look, I've been I've been coping really well.
I didn't think I'd [laughter] cope. I'm okay without Doctor Who on TV. It's like going to be okay.
>> What you doing is 6 months before it ends, you start a second channel so that your income doesn't completely cut out.
>> Genius.
>> See, that was No, but I think actually that is a very good bit of advice. Not that specifically, but just in the sense of get yourself a second hobbies that you take part in and watch other things as well. I know that obviously that sounds very easy, but I do think sometimes some Doctor Who fans sort of get very obsessed with Doctor Who and don't really branch their horizons out very much beyond Doctor Who.
>> Such a love for this one thing.
>> Yeah, don't get me wrong. You should have multiple hobbies. Hobbies.
>> Don't get me wrong, I am like that.
Obviously, look at me. I am like that.
However, you've got to be able to like go, are there other stuff out there? You know, like recently like obvious I've been trying to watch more films and you know like I've watched more like >> watch Obsession. This group are pissing me off.
>> I've watched it. I watched it and leave me alone. I I SAID >> I HAVE BEEN TELLING them to watch Obsession.
>> I watched it >> month and none of them have.
>> Also, I was going to say very Alistister coded main character. That's what I'm going to say.
>> It's a joke that means nothing to anyone. banana. [laughter] >> But but I will say watching things that are adjacent to Doctor Who where there's like a bit of little bit of time travel elements, a little bit >> was very good for this >> talking dynamics, a little bit of music is so good >> like notes to self.
[laughter] Right, on that note, um Emma Nen asks, "I need motivation for knitting a 3 m Doctor Who scarf. I'm only at 30 cm.
What can we do to motivate Emma?"
>> You don't need >> 100 cm is a meter, isn't it?
>> Every now and then.
>> Yeah. Just do it when you're bored or watching telly. Like when I do painting or something, I do it while like I'm talking on whatever.
>> Can we give Can we give them an emotional speech right now? If we each say a word and see how far we can get with good emotive speech. Um, guys, I am not going to edit this podcast. So, [laughter] we are not having a repeat of last week.
>> I'm going to start. Okay, we'll go me, Rosanna, Arty, Elise, and then keep going round. Okay. The >> amazing >> scar >> that >> you >> have >> will >> that you have will >> the amazing scarf that you have will >> to >> will [laughter] >> turn into the amazing stuff you have will to knit.
>> Yes. Exactly. Yes. Yeah. There you go.
See that's what I was going >> will. But in terms of like the will too.
>> Yes. Yes. That's what I would do.
>> It's your go.
>> Where's it?
>> Amazing scarf that you have that you will to Wait, hang on.
>> Yeah, I said the amazing scarf.
>> The amazing scarf that >> you will have to >> No, that you will to have knit. The amazing scarf that you will to have knit.
>> No, it's Elise's go.
>> No, I said >> I said knit. No, >> it's your go.
>> Amazing scarf that you will have >> knit. Me and you.
>> But you will have knit.
>> You.
>> Yeah. And I said will as in the the verb.
>> No, but the verb was the previous one because the amazing you the amazing scarf that you >> will [laughter] she has willed to.
>> I blame you solely for that. Rosanna.
What was will? You could have picked any word and you went with will.
>> You know what I think you should do?
You've got 270 cm left. I reckon you should divide that among 14 doctors and for the watch some William Hartull for the first bit and then watch some um um Patrick Troutton for the next bit and then watch some [laughter] make your way through >> make your way through the 14 um with like an amount of cm. No, in all I I I think it's just Yeah, just keep at it, you know, keep calm and carry on knitting. That's motivational there.
>> Oh, yeah. Because we have the scarf you will have to knit. [laughter] >> The amazing scarf that you will to have knit.
>> Yeah, it was great. Yeah.
>> And I was saying will as in the amazing scarf that you will to move on. Next question. Okay. Well, car will be Rosanna.
Incredible >> Oh, I >> if >> Oh, >> you >> manage >> to >> go on. [laughter] >> What?
>> Rosanna, you are terrible.
>> That's not even one word.
>> I was like, go. I don't know, guys.
>> Oh, I hope those words of encouragement will help you knit your scarf. Um, >> okay. [laughter] Nile JH1 asks, "I'm stuck on an island with John Baramman, dispossessed man, and a sentient meal deal. Any advice?"
>> Well, >> podcast.
>> Who's Which one of you's Satellite 2 episode was that?
>> Was that yours, Arty? I feel like that was yours.
>> Okay. Wait. Um, >> that was the plot of one of your desert island.
>> Yes, it was. [laughter] But dispossessed man didn't make it on my island, nor will he.
>> Oh, poor dispossessed man. Can we Can we all get a justice for dispossessed man in the comments, please?
>> Possessed man.
>> That's his official title. He was dispossessed man number seven.
>> Oh, the guy with a hat who just like sat in the back.
>> Who who goes, "Hang on. I've practiced this impression." [laughter] I was showing solidarity with my fellow wheelchair comrades. Thank you very much. Uh I was Vladimir I was Vladimir Wheeling. Um [laughter] >> you >> the [clears throat] worst thing I've ever heard of my life.
>> Uh [laughter] Vladimir Wheeling. Is that the best we've got?
>> I [clears throat] was Carl Tire marks. I can do that as well. There's another one.
>> That [laughter] was good. That was Um, >> what you should do is, according to Shirley, all disabled people in chairs have missiles in their chairs. So, you should use those as signal flares to attract the attention of boats passing by.
>> Anyway, >> who's the other one that we were strapped on the island with?
>> John Barman, but you can leave him there.
>> Well, maybe we could shoot a missile at John Baron. You know, I'm just saying [laughter] >> you can get excited now.
I'm Captain Jack and I'm immortal.
>> He starts running towards us. [laughter] >> Guys, look off me.
>> Guys, look. It's little John. No. No.
Get the >> big John.
>> What I think is really funny about >> about John Barman is that he is my dad's man crush. And I think that is very very fitting for Kevin, my dad.
>> He he loves him.
>> Yeah. He goes, "Whenever me and my brother annoy him," he goes, "I should have been gay with John Barman." So, this is my dad's dream. [laughter] >> I love that he says that as if the opportunity was just there. Like, >> I could have had it all.
>> I would have thought your dad's man crush would be like Danny Dyer and Rivals.
>> No, he loves he loves John Barman because he he always says he wants like a good fit gay as well. He [snorts] doesn't want [clears throat] >> If I'm going to do it, I'm going to commit. I want a good >> Well, that's the thing. You might as well do it properly. Like >> cuz I suppose Danny Dyier would be Rosanna's dad's aspirational person. He wants to be like Danny Dyier. He doesn't want to be with Danny Dier.
>> Yeah, he wants to be with John Barman.
He tells me quite a lot. Quite concerning. [clears throat] >> Well, there we are. [laughter] And >> next question.
>> Freya >> asks >> Freya. Is Freya the one that we messed up the name or something? There was a Freya.
>> I don't know. But she asks Elise.
>> There was something. What Agents of Shield characters do all of us remind you of? So, cast us in Agents of Shield.
>> Rosanna Daisy Johnson.
>> Is she Asian?
>> She's half Asian.
>> You racist.
>> No, because she is a boss [ __ ] main character. That girl, the show, she's amazing.
>> I'm going to have a nap while you do this. She is like she's like sassy oneliners with a real emotional tender side.
>> Right.
>> That sounds like it written by chat GTP.
>> I am written by chat GPT.
>> NO, GUYS. YOU WANT TO KNOW? I'VE JUST TYPED IT ON my phone. I just typed in Asians of Shield. [laughter] [clears throat] >> I'd watch that show.
You're Agent Talbert.
>> Oh, that's so good. That means nothing to me.
>> Yeah, Agent Talbert.
>> You've done well there, Faris.
>> Iconic character.
>> Oh, no. I'm not going to spoil anything just in case. P SL I'm not going to say anything any further because I don't want to.
>> Can I Can I Google him without getting spoilers? Can I just see the image like?
>> Yeah, I think you should be able to.
You've done well there. Far Calbert's great.
>> Joe Olsson.
>> No.
>> Oh, all right.
>> See, Arty has watched pretends not to.
>> I haven't watched it. It's rubbish, isn't it?
>> All of it. He's actually rewatched certain episodes.
>> Who would Jo be?
>> Coulson.
>> Lincoln Campbell.
>> It wouldn't be Coulson. Which one was Lincoln?
>> Why do they all have such boring names?
[clears throat] No, >> you'll have the most American names you can >> possibly.
>> It's like it's >> um I'm going to make you fit >> purely because I'm Simmons.
>> Is [snorts] Maria Hill.
>> Is Maria Hill in Agents of Shields?
>> Briefly.
>> Oh, I'm not going to watch it now.
>> No, but she's in some of it.
>> Joe, you can be Nick Fury. Do >> you know what? I know.
>> We look very similar. [laughter] Like >> what? Nick Fury, [clears throat] Agent Talbert, Daisy Johnson.
>> We're not Fitz Simmons. We're just not Fitz Simmons. But I don't know. I don't know who would it who who people would be.
>> I don't know. You would.
>> Okay. So, Ben D Cheese [laughter] asked, "Advice for working with annoying puppet actors, asking for a friend." And I think this is our last question.
>> It is. It's a shame.
>> Can we do another one of these?
>> My advice is don't. They say don't work with kids or animals. [clears throat] >> Definitely [snorts] don't work with puppets.
>> We actually we've done basically all of that for notes to self. Kids, animals, and puppets.
>> Where was the animals?
[laughter] >> That makes so much sense.
>> Oh, but while we discuss that, I'm going to pop to the L. Yeah, the the puppet.
The puppet. Where to begin? None of you.
But the problem is Arty's the only one who's witnessed us trying to operate the puppet and uh it's uh oh, it's a pain in the but hole.
>> I did see the uh the child actor get very attached to the puppet which was really sweet. Um you should start swinging it around at one point and I could see the hairs on Joe's arm just like rising and [laughter] he's like can't >> spidey sense is like can't don't damage the puppet. Don't damage the puppet. But the puppet was fine. It was all It was all good fun. It was good fun. Um, but I was The problem is as well, I can't even look forward to going like, "Oh, yeah.
Most of Patch's shoots are out the way."
>> No, he's still in almost the entire rest of the film so much. He really >> I'm really excited to hear the voice of matches take hold though and to hear the songs >> there's a very exciting >> either tomorrow or Wednesday we will be getting our first chunk of it the the sample through and then obviously we've still got to arrange with Charlie um this super secret actor we will be recording all of his lines and his things over a course of three days soon which will be very exciting Very very exciting indeed. How long? Oh, no. Go on.
>> He's He's flashing the L right now, but I was just going to say, can I give my own agony aunt advice because I as as you all know, I was housesitting >> and we had a couple of very strange occurrences happen [clears throat] >> when I was housesitting. Just to close, >> is a massive wimp. I'd just like to clear that up right now.
>> So, I was Okay, one of the things that happened was it's 1:00 in the morning.
I'm desperately trying to go to sleep and I'm, you know, drifting off and the doorbell goes at 1 in the morning in like this tiny little village outside a small town, which is creepy. Anyway, what is even creepier is the doorbell is a werewolf howl followed by someone saying someone is at the door. So, I was terrified. I called Arty, Joe, and Alistister and I was like, "Help, HELP."
>> WHY WOULD YOU CALL THEM?
>> She called Arty. We just happened to be there. [laughter] >> I'm like, "Help, help, help. What do I do?" They're [clears throat] all like, "Just just turn all the lights on and wander around the house."
>> I gave Stella advice that you didn't listen to.
>> What was your >> What did you do? Also, why would you call me? I'm like, I've been burgled, babes.
>> Yeah. So, >> yeah. Yeah. The difference is you didn't prevent the burglary. That's the problem. [laughter] >> I would IF I WAS THERE I WOULD HAVE.
That's >> No. Um I think realistically in that scenario >> if someone rings the doorbell. Yeah.
>> You've got to make sure Well, one if they know you're in there, you're a lone woman in the middle of the countryside.
Are they being a weirdo? That's I feel like that because Arty was like just poke your head out the window and make it abundantly clear that you're a lone woman with all the lights on.
>> No, but realistically, if someone's ringing the doorbell and they're there for nefarious things, it won't be because they think there's a lone woman in there. It will be because they're trying to rob the place. So, you just make >> rings.
Yeah. Because if no one answers that, just make yourself visible and loud AND THAT'S WHAT A MAN WOULD SAY.
EXACTLY.
>> As as a fellow horror movie girly, don't do that. Okay. Have you not seen this?
When the stranger calls, they literally ring on the doorbell to check that people are in so that they can go inside and kill them later. Duh. Why would you do that?
>> I'm really glad you're telling me this after this happened. It was terrifying.
>> I This is what I would have done. I would have done >> I was with a dog, but the dog was deaf and they were like, "Wake up the dog." I woke up the dog. She looked at me and went back to sleep again. Yeah, dogs aren't great in this situation. You get a knife and you get a bat or a rolling pin and you sit in the kitchen and just wait.
>> Be fair. I also said that I said I [laughter] said grab something. Grab something that you could like [ __ ] someone with and like and I suggested that you get a knife because when I was a [clears throat] kid and I was home alone, I used to sleep with a knife beneath my pillow or I then later >> during your teenage years rather than as a kid. [laughter] >> Well, no. In my teenage years, I used my sword.
>> I also while [laughter] I was cows sitting >> doesn't Andrew Tate do that.
>> Well, Arty Art when we we were at this um event thingy the other day and there was this kid who's just got his first paycheck and he was like, "Oh, what should I spend it on?" And Arty like he was getting actual advice and Arty just goes, "No, ignore it. A sword. I spent my first paycheck. You should buy a sword."
>> That is not what happened. I didn't say buy a sword. I said for your first paycheck, you have to do something stupid. I bought a sword and it is the best thing I've ever bought from any paycheck ever. You do not need your first paycheck. Every paycheck after that, you'll probably need because you're used to having money and you're going to spend it on things, but your first paycheck is like a huge step up. A >> sword and a yo-yo to buy something.
[laughter] I killed a fish.
I can't remember what I bought with my first YouTube money. I don't know whether you >> what happened to the fish >> just in my house.
>> I went downstairs. I was housesitting because there was a dog, two cats, and a fish and I went downstairs to feed the fish and it was floating at the drop of the tank. [laughter] >> Did you bury it, eat it or toilet?
>> No.
>> I waited all day with like this pit of anxiety in my stomach. I went to I I turned up late to the theater where I had to light a show. I'm sat there like, "Yeah, yeah, we need we need platform lights on this bit." And they're like, "Are you okay, Le?" And I'm like, "No, I've done something really horrible."
And they're like, "What's happened?"
I've killed a fish. And they're just like, "Oh, right. Are you going to feed it to the cats?" Like having a little joke about it. So I I sent a paragraph message to the owners being like, "I'm really sorry. Like if there's um I I came downstairs. I like crafted this message. I sent it to people so they could double check it." And it was like, "I'm really sorry." Um, I know this isn't the news you want to hear when you're coming back on like a 12-hour flight from New York for your 50th birthday, but I came downstairs this morning and Malikica had white eyes and was floating at the top of her tank.
[laughter] Um, I was going to tell you in person, but I thought, no, but it's like a fish. And to be the guy that so there was this couple the guy that of this couple I was gonna kill some ants because they had ants all over the floor and Katherine was like don't don't show Alex this if you because if he sees the ants he ants he will take them outside into the garden one by one cuz he's a big like he's really so I didn't I killed his fish [clears throat] >> but it's fine. They sent back a really nice message like she was really old.
She lived a good life. I don't really know what a good life is a [laughter] fish.
[clears throat] >> The thought would have occurred to me like if I go to a pet shop, [laughter] are they going to notice the difference if I just >> I considered it, but it was the day before they got back and I thought this is too much.
>> It was like more than a goldfish. It looked like an expensive fish.
>> It was like a big like >> Oh, okay.
Fair enough.
>> All of this colorful stuff, but they said it had lived out it outlived all of the other fish.
drained and and you drained the color from it. [laughter] >> It started to smell as well on the last day. I had to like candle in the room.
>> You left it in there.
>> Well, I I [laughter] texted them. I texted them and I was like, "Look, I wanted to tell you in person, but I thought I'd give the option of me cleaning out the tank if it's too much or if you'd rather do that yourself.
>> It's too much."
>> And then they said, "Don't worry, we'll deal with it tomorrow." Um, and they walked in the house, they went, "Yeah, we probably should do that today."
[laughter] >> Oh, guys, the guy from Jurassic Park just died.
>> Wasn't that about four days ago?
>> Yeah, that did happen a while ago.
>> Well, Bonnie Tyler's dead and Anne Widham's dead.
>> Tick, tick, tick. [laughter] >> And you know what? That's been >> What do you call that?
>> Has that been a [laughter] >> Oh. Uh, but it it has been that for the It hasn't. Why are [laughter] we lying?
>> This has been a good episode, guys. Get get your hotline questions in. I feel like I It's my fault. I wasn't clear enough on the brief, but we need like dilemas like pregnant time lords. Peak >> fix your lives. We want to >> question great. Pregnant time lords, great. Sam from Cyber Industries being too sexy for his own good. Great. We need more kind of stuff like that.
[laughter] [clears throat] >> Think that it's coming home >> and England.
>> Shut up.
>> When he finally comes out, we will be in the final.
>> The clip of Kapaldi do the final.
>> Oh yeah, I sent that to you actually.
>> It's so good. I reposted that all over Tik Tok. He literally the interviewer the interviewer just puts the mic in Capaldi's face and goes like, "So, what do you think about football?" And he goes, "Honestly, I don't care. I don't I I just I just don't care about football." And just leaves. It's like >> to be football sketch.
>> Yeah. [clears throat] >> It's brilliant.
>> It is very good.
>> What's I was happy that Scotland >> David Mitchell football sketch.
>> It's from like the back in the Mitchell and Web look days. It's >> I I am almost finished on Robert Webb's autobiography and it is a banger. It is.
>> That's another one for the Satellite 5 book club.
>> Oh yeah. Also, have you have you [ __ ] seen that? Like Tommy is gonna be interviewing Tom Holland.
>> Tom Holland.
>> Yeah. And Matt >> Oh, no. That would be rubbish because Tom Holland is one of the most like stage managed PR people you can possibly have in an interview.
>> I'm not being funny, Arty, but if you got to interview Tom Holland, you wouldn't be calling it rubbish, would you?
>> No. Obviously, it's good for Tommy in it. love the fact that his podcast has just had the most insane guests ever.
And the worst ones are his YouTuber episodes because it's just less interesting.
>> But out of the podcasts, Tom Holland isn't going to be that great because he's so PR. Like, it's great for Tommy in it, but it's it's just won't be a great >> Apparently, it's Matt Damon and Tommy in it. I think maybe I don't know why it's both of them.
>> Both.
>> Matt Damon will be better. Matt Damon will be better.
>> Please get there. I'm gonna turn instant. You know what?
[laughter] >> Took it.
>> Can we Can we >> All right. Well, it's been an absolute gig. Thanks everyone for watching.
>> Midnight.
>> See you next week.
>> If you're in Clton, vote for Camp Benface. [laughter] Make sure you do that.
>> Wait, wait, wait.
>> I don't know if this is going to come out before or after, but um Galipia Cabaret is in Newcastle, so go see that.
>> I'm not in it.
[laughter] >> Anything else? See you all in the next one.
>> Bye-bye.
>> Elise, when are we doing Elise week?
[music] >> So true.
>> Cuz the comments want to know. They want to know.
>> Submit. Submit them to me. Send them to me on Instagram. Um just >> tell them what they need to do quickly in case there's anyone watching who wants to submit.
>> Thought we were done. I want pasta.
>> You can go and serve a pasta then.
>> We have a VC cuz I'm so bored. So guys, >> hang on. We're not over yet. at le >> you have to um pretend to be in an episode like the Hoodle. Everyone's played the Hood, I'm sure. Um just pretend. For example, Matt Smith on the dance floor uh in a in um Big Bang.
Like do put yourself into an episode.
Don't put yourself actually Oh god, I don't know how I might This is what I struggled with last time. I tried to explain myself and I don't think I did it very well. You're doing in real life Hood. pretend to be in an episode of Doctor Who. You can dress up as much as you want. You can add as many props as you want. Make it easy enough that they could eventually guess it, but difficult because these guys were quite good last last time. So, Elise week two taking submissions. We can do that.
>> Don't forget to click below and subscribe to the official confused adapose [music] YouTube channel.
>> I will destroy you.
