Latest Weather | Rain pattern returns Wednesday nightAdded:
Now, Ginger, hopefully if you don't like rolling around in the mud, because you might be seeing a little bit of mud later with some some rain on the way.
Right now, though, things are pretty quiet. Here's a live look along I40 at exit 37 in the Ozark area. So, some cloud cover out there, and you might be thinking, okay, why am I showing Ozark?
Why is he showing Ozark? Well, there's a kind of a brief downpour here just west of Ozark, but you notice how spotty it is. So, this is roughly the camera along I40. It's just a couple miles away and it's sunny there and then downpouring just to the west there along the river.
So, just really depends on where you're set up in the region. I'm trying to look across here. I'm looking at the camera there in Ozark for us. And yeah, it's not even raining there. So, it's very hit or miss right now, but more activity is expected off to our south. That's really about it that's in the area right now. You're seeing a little bit of it south of Mallister. Now, let's dig a little bit deeper. There's been some heavy rainfall falling in northern Texas there along the Red River, just south of the Red River. That energy will continue to push northward as we head through the rest of the afternoon and evening. So, right now we're going to see a few kind of spotty showers and storms continue into the afternoon. But this energy up above in the middle of the atmosphere, this low that's kind of sitting over Oklahoma and Texas is continuing to send waves of energy later to us later this afternoon. And so these winds here going to follow this pattern and shift eventually some of that energy up here.
And with the winds being pretty slow, we're not really expecting any severe weather, but some heavy rain is possible at times with it being slow moving and a whole lot of moisture being pulled in from the south. So, we'll show you that here on Futurecast. Here's it being pulled in again about 4:00. It'll be slow moving, but when it gets here, it's going to drop some heavy rainfall. Ahead of that, as you're seeing right now and later this afternoon, could see some spotty showers at times that continues to move northward 7:00. So, it is a little bit slower now with this system, but still going to bring some heavy rainfall across the region. That continues to push northward 10:00 now more for northwest Arkansas as we continue through the overnight hours.
That's the main line, but it could hang out and about for us overnight tonight into early tomorrow, but mainly staying dry. Once we get into the afternoon hours, that chance will pick up a little bit. And overall, over these next few days, what you're going to see is this probably change a little bit in terms of what the pattern looks like. These upper air systems, upper air influence systems can be really hard to be picked up by these short-term data models. But more so, what you're looking for is the timing patterns. And that's certainly the case for really the rest of this week is that it's going to be mainly afternoon and evening hours. You can see that moderate to heavy downpour at times continuing for tomorrow evening and then even for tomorrow night into early Friday. We'll kind of see it hanging around. So, it's really not going to go anywhere for the next couple of days.
Nor is it going to go away for the weekend either, unfortunately. So, for Friday, again, maybe a few spotty showers and storms during the morning, but a better shot comes during the afternoon evening. I think I've said that probably about a thousand times since this week started, but that's just certainly the case for us. Even on Saturday, Saturday morning, quiet, showers and storms push in during the afternoon, evening. Then I think Saturday night is quiet, and then we do it all again on Sunday again. Showers and storms during the afternoon, evening. But finally after Sunday, the system or kind of the Groundhog Day, you finally, you know, I don't even remember his character's name. I'm trying to remember Bill Murray's character's name.
Groundhog Day, he finally does everything he needs to You know, he teaches piano. He learns how to ice sculpt. And finally, he breaks the the cycle. We finally get out of that Groundhog Day cycle for the start of June. Man, I'm really buming myself out here not knowing what his character's name is. But we are going to see highs in the upper 70s and low 80s. With that rain chance kind of staying steady and with those rain chances sticking around, it's going to be fairly muggy as well.
So, to be mindful after spending time outside when it's not raining, still going to be pretty warm and humid. So, not necessarily comfortable, but not necessarily sweltering summer heat either. And the humidity will just make it feel a little warmer than it looks when you see that number on the forecast.
>> Yeah, exactly. And that's unfortunately one of the kind of downsides of getting rainfall. Like yes, we need it, but then it's muggy and then down the road for summer, even when it's not raining, that moisture kind of sticks in the system and it's going to be awfully muggy come later this month. But you know what? We don't even have to worry about it right now. Just focus on the present and this rain chance.
>> All right. Thanks, Danny. Of >> course.
