The Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index measures inflation by tracking price changes in consumer goods and services; when the PCE rose 0.4% in April to 3.8% (the highest rate in nearly three years), it was primarily driven by oil price increases from the Iran war, with the core rate (excluding food and gas) at 3.3%, and this economic data influenced Federal Reserve policy considerations including potential interest rate adjustments.

Inflation rises in April in U.S.Añadido:
On the money watch bad news for the cost of nearly everything as inflation is going up across the country. The personal consumption expenditures price index rose 0.4% in April to reach 3.8%.
It's highest rate in almost 3 years.
That was fueled largely by the oil price shock caused by the war in Iran. If you strip away food and gas, the rate is 3.3%.
Consumer spending tapered off a bit seeing a rise of just a half a percent versus a full percent the previous month. Now taking a look at the stock market, things are up but marginally just under 20 points here in the midday.
This was the first inflation report by the way since Kevin Warsh took over as Federal Reserve chairman. Some economists say there could be a rate hike later this year. The Fed's next meeting is June the 16th.
