DIY defined: the foundation of my channel

[00:00:00]What is up everybody? This is your boy the e-bike guy and today I'm doing a little something different with this video and it's all about DIY. And you know, what I do around my household as far as me building these bikes.

[00:00:16]It's just the way I'm you know saying doing things with these bikes, you know what I mean? And to let a little bit of a people that newcomers cuz I know a lot of y'all that been subscribed to my channel for a long time know how I run things around here.

[00:00:29]And you know it's just that some people just don't understand what I'm talking about. Now so this ain't mean nothing to my subscribers because y'all subscribed to my channel for a reason cuz y'all like what I do with these e-bikes. I'm not trying to be a top dog or brag about stuff, you know what I mean? I mean certain stuff, yes, but not all the time because I'm still learning.

[00:00:55]You know, about e-bikes and EVs and batteries and all that stuff right there, you know what I mean? So I just wanted to share with y'all what I think what DIY means, you know what I mean? Do it yourself.

[00:01:10]So right here in the behind me to my right, this is my son's bike and you know, we started this about 2 years ago building it for it from a 15 100 W hub motor.

[00:01:20]It had like a a 20 amp hour battery, I believe. So it this bike came a long ways and y'all know most of my bikes start off with the tape.

[00:01:32]You know, the tape until my boy Maurice makes my battery bag for it. So y'all know when I when I do stuff around here, it always start with off with the duct tape or gorilla tape, whatever you want to call it because this is the only way to hold it, you know what I mean? The besides a battery bag or if you want to encase it with like a metal case or whatever whatever you want your e-bike to look like, okay?

[00:01:56]So a lot of y'all don't like it. You know, uh uh I'mma call them the uh the Karens or whatever or or or YouTube uh uh fashion e-bike police uh whatever the case may be.

[00:02:10]So, DIY is doing it yourself. Now, it's it's a little hot here cuz I'm I'm on the shade, so I'm sweating a little bit.

[00:02:17]But, DIY is doing it yourself. I mean, building the frame. You see how I modified the frame to fit the battery.

[00:02:22]Uh you know, had some forks on it. I built the battery myself. I placed the controller myself. Uh everything has been done by me.

[00:02:30]Uh me and Ebike Kid kind of uh Ebike Kid kind of helped me extend the swing arm to keep the front end from lifting up, you know what I mean? So, as this is what I'm saying about uh DIY, okay?

[00:02:41]But, some people take that content and just twist it around, you know what I mean?

[00:02:46]And I just wanted just I want to say things without respect, you know what I mean? I want to just respect a lot of people that that comment on uh YouTube, you know? And I like I like that approach. I like this approach that if you don't have nothing to say or good to say, don't say it at all, you know what I mean? Cuz like me, if I don't like what a person on YouTube doing to anything, I'm just going to like I'm just going to swipe away or look you know, look another way to another channel, whatever. Because there's a lot of channels There's a lot of e-bike channels. There's a lot of those channels just for that are fit a person needs and their liking, you know what I mean? So, I got a comment um not too long ago. So, this is what prompted me to make this video is that I guess he was talking about, you know, how the battery bag was made on my son's bike because there was two bikes. I did a post about this bike had a customer brought me two bikes the same as this bike used to be and wanted me to build a 1 of 3,000 W and 1 of 5,000 W. And of course they will have a battery bank. But I have to tell that person this is my son's bike. This bike is not going to no customer, it's not going to nobody else. My son ride this to school and everything. So I just want to let you know if you don't like what you see, you don't have to like it at all, you know what I mean? So I'm not here to make a e-bike that's not made out of diamonds and gold for to please a person because you can't make everybody happy, you know?

[00:04:20]So So what I'm saying, there's a lot of DIY e-bikers out there that build their bikes the way they want it and I covered this on another video about DIY, you know what I'm saying? So you build your bike the way you want your bike to look and build it to your skill level, you know what I mean? And you know, that's that's that's pretty much what DIY means when it comes to e-bike, you know what I'm saying? Of course a lot of people, you know, can't build their own batteries so they get their batteries from a different, you know, place like e-motor or powerful lithium, AliExpress, you know, those places like that, you know what I'm saying?

[00:04:59]Myself, I build my own batteries for all my e-bikes including this, including mines, e-bike woman, e-bike mom, my oldest son, you know, and I I build those batteries for you know, for my family so my family can ride, you know what I'm saying? If I didn't know what I was doing then I'll be searching my you know, sourcing my battery from those companies, you know what I'm saying? Because the last thing I want is something happen to these e-bikes because it's a lot of money, you know what I'm saying? To be invested in. So and that's what I want to say is that, you know what I'm saying? With all due respect you know, I'm a busy guy you know, and I'm working on my family maintaining the household. I'm doing bikes for customers. I don't have time to go out and look pretty for nobody.

[00:05:54]You know what I mean? So, if you don't like what I You don't like how I look, then swipe away. You know what I mean? If I want to go look good for somebody, then I'll do that when I'm ready. Not what the next man on YouTube tells me.

[00:06:09]You know what I mean? If my my baby mama and my wife wants me to go and look pretty, then I'll do that.

[00:06:16]Because they live with me and I have to be around them and you know, I mean hey, Jessani, what's up?

[00:06:24]What's up? Not much, man. I'm about to make a video um telling these people, man, about DIY and my appearance and everything, you know? Some people they have they don't like how I look because I'm like nappy and everything. I don't I don't care about that, you know what I mean? But I just want to make it known to those individuals that hey, man, I'm here to stay, you know what I mean? So, like I said, they don't like it, then oh well. So, what you got going on?

[00:06:50]We put the tire on and everything. Oh, y'all did? Okay.

[00:06:52]>> And you can come over if you want to get on the if you want to have my dad pick you up in the side-by-side. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, I'm I'm actually charging my ATV.

[00:07:02]So, I'll probably just hop over over there on that. Or or the e-bike, it don't matter. We'll probably do e-bike ride today. Okay. You know what I mean?

[00:07:16]Yeah, man. So, YouTube is hard. I know it is. So, I'm letting you know that YouTube is hard, you know what I'm saying? In 2026, it wasn't like how it was 15 years ago when you you didn't have the this this this new generation coming up, you know what I mean? And it was easier to gain subscribers, but there's so much competition out there that it just makes hard. You have to work really hard. You have to make your videos look really good, eye-catching and all that stuff, you know what I mean?

[00:07:42]Um to to gain subscribers, you know, what I mean? Cuz, like I said, there's a lot of competition out there. So, what I'm saying on the camera is that this this really it doesn't it doesn't make it it doesn't make me or break me. I'm just going to tell you that, you know, what I mean?

[00:07:57]Cuz I can stop doing it and I can go get me a job, you know, just as much as doing this right here, you know, what I mean? I do it cuz I like doing it, you know, what I mean? So, when I have free time, I can do it. But, like I say, I'm busy working on, you know, like Jasani's e-bike, my family's e-bike, you know, I'm maintaining it. So, there's a lot going on here, you know, what I mean? I don't have time to go out there and try to look pretty for the next man. But, I got I can look pretty for my family if I want to do that, you know, what I mean?

[00:08:24]So, I had somebody tell me to go get a haircut, which is okay. Some people laugh at it, you know, what I mean? But, there's some people uh you know, take it take it the wrong way, you know, what I mean? Like, for instance, he said something about the rusty chain. If you don't like the rusty chain, don't have one on your bike, you know, what I mean? So, Mario was complaining about the rusty chain, but guess what we did? We can go buy one or cut the darn thing off.

[00:08:46]Guess what we did? We cut it off. So, if she wants to buy one, then later on she'll buy one. E-bike kid don't have one on his because it interferes with his tire. So, we just went ahead and cut it off, you know, what I mean? And he's been riding fine just like that. It's a hub motor, it's not mid-drive, so we don't need a chain, you know?

[00:09:04]You know, what I mean? But, yeah, man, I um I'll be over there when I get done with this video, okay? Bet.

[00:09:11]>> [laughter] >> Yeah. So, with all that out of the way, we're going to talk about, you know, what I'm saying, DIY, you know, what I mean? When And I covered this on my videos that I did a long time ago is that you can be proud of yourself. When you finish something, no matter how much power you put into it, can be anywhere from a 1,000 W hub motor setup all the way to something like this, it's you did it and you should be proud of it. Don't care what the next man think of your build.

[00:09:42]To be honest, long as you and your family like your builds, that's all that matters.

[00:09:49]So, forget what the next man on YouTube says. It is your build, and you should be proud of it, you know what I mean?

[00:09:55]And then there's some mistakes. So, you go test your bike out, something not right, you come back to the house, you fix it. So, we all make mistakes.

[00:10:05]We're not robots in this, you know what I mean? So, I I just want these people to understand, if you don't see it like these other guys, they don't show their mistakes. This is what R&D is, you know what I mean? Like say like say like the guys in SpaceX or Maurice had made a good exclamation that there's people that spend millions of dollars on research and development, you know what I mean? So, that way like say like this the the jumbo jet engines that you have to fly or they have to put on the airplanes and fly, you know, 30,000 ft in the air, you got to make research and development cuz you don't want that engine going up there and the next thing you know it catches on fire, and then, you know, uh there goes the plane. So, same thing with the e-bikes, but on a much smaller budget, okay? Something not right, say like the spaces not right on the brakes, it's making it too much noise, you come back and you figure out what's going on, you decipher it. Okay, I need to add a washer or I need to take one away, and then you solve that problem. Battery issues, okay, the the eight-gauge wire's not uh thick enough, so I'm going to go with six-gauge wire or I'm going to double it up. I'm going to put two 10-gauge wires together, and you do it like that, you know what I'm saying? That's what I'm saying about these DIY stuff and and research and development, you know what I'm saying? So, I just wanted to to tell y'all that this is, you know what I'm saying? This is what uh us humans, you know, do. It It doesn't It doesn't just pertain to e-bikes. It pertains to everything else. Like automotive and ATVs, garden tractors, or you know what I'm saying? Whatever it is, even bicycles, you know what I mean? So, but that's all I really want to say, you know what I mean? And I know it's not going to stop just because what I say, you know what I'm saying? I'm still going to get the comments, you know what I mean? But some Some comments I just ignore, but then when it when it It just It just It's funny when we all grown at the end of the day, man. It is funny when another man makes fun of another man up about how he looks and how he handle things, you know what I'm saying? And then instead of them instead of them them people worrying about what they got going on their household, they trying to dictate what I need to do with my household and what I running in life, you know what I mean? So, that that being said, I just wish that those individuals, they need to just grow up, you know what I mean? And and and tend to their business, you know what I mean?

[00:12:35]So, and it says in the YouTube comments, "Keep it respectful and follow the community guidelines." If YouTube doesn't see fault, then I'm good to go.

[00:12:43]Then that individual is good to go on their channel, you know what I'm saying?

[00:12:47]So, YouTube will let me know before that video will go out, you know what I'm saying? So, like I said, stay tuned for my my bike. I got my bike back.

[00:12:58]Um so, Manny May gave me a a um it's a 96 2000 controller by FarDriver.

[00:13:06]Um right now, that is the best controller that I have. Now, I have two more controllers coming. I have an 1800 HR and I have the e-bike Surron.

[00:13:15]Uh it's a 108 2400, but it's just a just a motherboard. I do have the power stage up there, so I'm waiting on the motherboard to get here. And that was wrong with the controller um to begin with, so I'm putting that together, putting it on the bike, testing it out, make sure everything is good to go. So, I have the uh a boring ride. It's going to call It's called a boring ride. I'm out there on the highways, on back country roads, and I'm talking, and and I'm I'm I'm doing things that I don't do. So, I wanted everybody to know it's windy out here.

[00:13:42]So, I wanted everybody to know that I am on the highway and I am speeding, but that's not what I do every day. I'm just demonstrating my bike to everybody and show you what it what it does, okay?

[00:13:54]So, you're not going to see that all the time. It just It's in the blue moon that you'll see that on YouTube, you know what I mean? But, it's DIY. I built it myself. I built I put that motor in that bicycle frame. I built my battery for it. I wired everything up. I got my own wire harness. That is DIY, okay? Now, uh I don't know I don't know how far DIY goes, you know what I'm saying? As far as, you know what I'm saying? Building a battery and welding up your chassis to fit certain things, like the motor or making a bracket for your controller and all that stuff. Damn, I just said too much, man. This been a This supposed to be a short video.

[00:14:34]But, the reason why I got this here That just the reason why I got this here because on that post on this post, there was a comment left, and I just wanted to respond, but I wanted to respond in kind and also for you to hear me and not through text. Well, I ain't got to got time to be texting, to be honest, you know what I mean? I got too much stuff to be worrying about. So, I wanted to make it known, okay? So, if you watch it, you watch it.

[00:14:58]If you don't, then okay, you know what I mean? Like I said, this is nothing to do with my subscribers. This is This is to do with one individual that that made fun of this bike and the way I look, you know what I mean? Shoot, man. I don't even give a damn about how I look right now, man. I don't care, you know what I mean? So, maybe one day I will get one I will get one, you know what I'm saying? But, right now, I worried about that. So, anyways, I'm going to go right now cuz I got stuff to do. I got to go ride my ATV. I might ride my e-bike today, you know what I mean? I didn't take care of the yard yesterday. So, I'm relaxing.

[00:15:35]Try to get them up out of here so I can relax, you know what I'm saying? Cuz a lot of y'all said I'm um tired. I do be tired, man. I be like I be really tired, you know what I'm saying? At the end of the day, I just want to just take me a shower, eat dinner, man, and just lay down because at the end of the day, at night time, I have to do some editing and and you know uh and posting some videos and stuff, making shorts and everything. And it just it really um have mental and physical stress, you know what I'm saying? In the mind and the body, you know what I'm saying? When it comes to this YouTube and trying to make a a little bit of a career out of it, you know what I'm saying? Cuz I don't think this is going to go far, but at least a little something to uh I'm almost done.
