Get This Wrong And Every Note Is Out Of Tune

[00:00:00]What do I mean by intonation? Well, if I play an open note on the top E string or bottom E string, I should say, that's an E and that's in tune.

[00:00:10]If I play it exactly an octave higher, up here on the 12th fret, same note, but when I look at my tuning device, it's telling me when I play this E, that it's just slightly sharp.

[00:00:29]Um and that means I need to adjust the length string so that when I play the note, it's in tune open, and then when I play an E further up, it's in tune, or even if I play an E up here, it's in tune. And when I play the E up here, it's even sharper. So, I need to adjust the length of this string.

[00:00:53]As my string was sharp, it means I need to move this saddle block here backwards to make the length of the string longer and therefore reduce its frequency.

[00:01:07]So, I need to put my Allen key in here, loosen off the saddle, and then loosen off the clamp here that's holding it down.

[00:01:24]Then we can move this back slightly.
