[00:00:00]The Ekambaranathar Temple, or Ekambareswarar Temple, is one of the oldest temples in Kanchipuram and is considered to be more than 1,300 years old. This temple is considered to have been constructed later than the Kailasanathar Temple built by Narasimhavarman II. The inscriptions found in the temple complex dating back to the time of this king have raised doubts among [music] historians that a brick-built temple may have existed at this place.

[00:00:26]There are many inscriptions of various kings from the Pallava period till the Nayaka period in this temple.

[00:00:32]The large Rajagopuram found at the southern gate of the temple was built by Vijayanagara king Krishnadevaraya. Its date is 1509 AD from the inscriptions.

[00:00:43]There is also an Ayiramkal Mandapam, a thousand pillar mandapam, which was called previously as Nutrakal Mandapam, a hundred pillar mandapam, which belonged to the king of Vijayanagara.
