Johannes Kepler's Harmony of the World proposes that the distances between planets follow harmonic ratios, connecting astronomy, mechanics, and Euclidean geometry through musical principles, demonstrating how music was historically one of the original liberal arts and can be studied through multiple lenses including mathematics and literature.

What is music have to do with quantum mechanics?
It was not something I would be experiencing at St. John's or my senior essay was written on Johannes Kepler's The Harmony of the World, which tries to take astronomy and astrology and Euclidean geometry and kind of explain them in a musical system.
Um with varying degrees of success.
Um but it's sort of this sweeping mathematical and musical system that I think we keep getting glimpses of at St. John's.
Um You know, music was one of the original liberal arts.
So I think St. John's by being a liberal arts college sort of from the outset is going to necessarily have music in its program. Um and I think we engage with it both as music as music. We engage with it as as math and we engage with it as almost a literary form in some ways.
So it it it gives you a great deal of perspective and you might not like some but you might like others and it all depends but there's there's music throughout.
