Orko, the iconic bumbling trollin character from Masters of the Universe, has been deliberately absent from all marketing materials for the upcoming film, likely to preserve surprise and maintain audience curiosity about his role. This strategic decision mirrors how filmmakers often withhold key character reveals to maximize impact, as Orko's comedic and mysterious nature could be diminished by early exposure. The character's lore as a trollin from Trolla, with cultural practices around face-revealing and accidental arrival in Eternia, adds depth that could be explored more fully in the film itself rather than through promotional materials.

Why You Haven’t Seen Orko in Masters of the UniverseAdded:
By the power of Grey Skull, we are just over one month away from the return of Masters of the Universe on the big screen, a film that's going to be borrowing heavily from the filmation animation of the 80s and then taking things from other parts of the lore as well. But one name has been absent from the standies, from the trailers, from every piece of marketing that we have seen, and it's not Jared Leto, it's Orcco.
[music] Hello everyone, welcome to Digital Shutter. My name is James. Thank you so much for stopping by. Let's get right into this.
Orco, the Orcco of it all, as they say.
I did a breakdown the other day of the international trailer and I kind of joked about Orcco, all these people being Orcco in disguise. And I'm not actually watching any of the trailers looking for Orco. Orcco, I don't suspect we're going to see the little guy at all. Maybe if we do, it'll be really close to the release of the film. And I think there's a few reasons for this.
One, uh, if you don't want to know anything about the movie, I maybe pause the video because I don't want to ruin anything. But everything I'm saying is more so speculation. But according to Hemania.com, like a month or so ago, I did a video on it. Then Orco is in the movie. It's going to be a small part, but a very impactful moment and a moment that makes you stop and really take notice of what's happening. Whatever that means and translates to, I don't quite know. However, it means that Orcco is in the movie and he's going to do something in the movie. And I think the reason we haven't seen him is is a few things. One, you know, Orcco is a character who could very much be the Jar Jar Binks of Masters. I mean, he I guess he might even be considered the original Jar Jar Binks of film because of who he is and who he could be. There's several ways to create the character of Orcco and have him translate into live action quite well, but there are also many ways that that would fail and fall short.
Now, in 1987, they tried Orcco in the movie with the Dolph Lugger movie. They wanted Orcco. That was the plan. But, you know, a dude, a floating troll in with in a hat with no feet. It was really hard for them to get on under their budget. So, instead, we got my buddy Gildor. And Guildor is fantastic and he's got the Cosmic Key and all that. And he served his purpose and it is what it is. And that that movie costs like $25 to make. So, I completely understand it. And Oracle though in 2026 is is very doable. Like there's there was no excuse not to do Orcco unless there's a concern of who this character is. Now in He-Man in Master of the Universe Revelations, they killed Orcco off. Orcro's Gonzo Detto because Kevin Smith felt like the character was weak sauce and the writers couldn't really do him justice. So they gave him, look, they gave him a brave ending. They gave him a heroic send off. You know, the the little clumsy trollin who couldn't do anything right was sent far away and and and and is killed off heroically. and that's fine and everything and so they they did it but I for me I think you don't just kill Oracle off I don't think in I don't think this movie you do that at all I think you bring him in but you use him subtly you bring him in later on in the game of course you bring He-Man in and then Oracle will make an appearance and it might be somebody from Earth that you know oh I was this person all along that could be what we get from Orcco in this movie absolutely it could be but I think there's a lot more depth to Orcco than than we usually give him credit for Orco is a trollin. Now, here's the thing. Orco wasn't originally part of Masters of the Universe toy line at all. He was created by Filmation, specifically to be the comic relief in the He-Man cartoon, which honestly, bull move. You've got this incredibly toy-driven mythology about the most powerful man in the universe fighting a skeleton wizard for a magical castle.
And the writers looked at it and went, "You know what? This needs a little gremlin who can't do anything right."
And frankly, they were correct. He was almost named Gorpo. Gorpo.
Gorpo for real. I kind of I kind of love Gorpo, but Orcco, you know, it hits different. You can't deny how awesome Orcco sounds. The reason for the change is genuinely delightful. Flammation artists would often flip character cells as production shortcut. And having a G on his shirt would have looked weird when mirrored. And oh though, symmetrical problem solved. So Orcco owes his very name to a workflow efficiency hack. That's so incredibly fitting for a character whose whole deal is that things don't work out the way they're supposed to. But Orco is more than just a hat and and a name that could be flipped. Orco is a trollin.
That's a whole race of beings from a parallel dimension called Trolla. And trolling society has this brilliant custom where showing your face to someone is considered an intimate act.
Kind of like a kiss. So the reason we never see his face isn't just a budget thing. It's well, you know, now it's lore. There's a whole culture built around it. He actually does reveal his face in one episode, but his face is never shown to the audience either, though his shadow suggests he's he's bald. I can relate. Now, how did he end up in Attorneyia, you ask? Not on purpose. A cosmic storm accidentally transported him to that magical land, and he landed in a tar swamp where he found a young prince Adam and his tiger cub, Cringer, about to die in the tar.
He saved them both, but crashed into a tree and lost his magic pendant in the process. So, he arrives in a dimension he didn't ask to be in, immediately does something heroic, immediately fumbles it, and loses the one thing that made his powers work. That's Orcco in a nutshell, everything all at once.
Because he saved the prince, the king of Eternia made him royal buffoon, which again is a job title here. Someone sat down and wrote that in a royal decree, Orcco got his own office in the palace and is labeled buffoon. I freaking love this show. Now, here's the real kicker. Orcco is one of the only people who actually knows Prince Adam is secretly He-Man. The bumbling little floating wizard who can't cast a spell without accidentally turning someone's horse into a sofa. That guy is one of the biggest secret olders in all of Eternia. He followed Adam to Castle Grave Skull and witnessed the whole freaking transformation. And then to his enormous credit, he mostly kept his mouth shut. Mostly the magic thing is a running gag, but also genuinely complicated lore. One explanation is that the natural laws of Trolla are basically the opposite of Eternia's. So his magic just doesn't translate properly there. But then the show kind of forgot that was the reason and started showing him being equally bad at magic back on Troller 2. So maybe he's just not just not that maybe he's just not that good, which is fine. It's very relatable. What's not relatable is his hat. Oracle pulls things out of his hat constantly. And the sheer volume of it suggests the hat is essentially a magic bag of holding. You know, he's basically got like Mary Poppins bag on his head. And wouldn't you love to see that in live action? So, that's one reason why we haven't seen him. I think the other reason why he's not in the marketing is you don't show everything.
I don't want to see Orcco in this movie yet. I have no interest. I do have I shouldn't say that, but I don't need to see I've seen so much. And what I have loved about the marketing is it looks like they have not shown us that much.
It looks like they've shown us a few scenes from the movie. They've shown us a bunch of Earth stuff and little of Eternia. Not so much of the There's more to Eternia than meets the eye. We're going to get more Snake Mountain. We're going to get more Castle Grey Skull.
We're going to get more Skeletor.
There's a whole lot that they have not shown us. And Orcco, whether it's one scene, two scenes, or half the movie, is one thing they haven't shown us because why spoil the surprise?
Why not? Look, and if Orcco has a bigger role than suggested, if he does have a if he has an impactful role and fans gravitate to it, you will see Orcco weaved into the marketing as time goes on after the film's released, they'll probably spill the beans. But going into it, I'm okay with them not mentioning it. I have found it curious that of all with all the interviews that they've done with Cineacon and whatnot, that Orcco's name never has been brought up.
I haven't heard anyone actually formally speak of Orco. And I'm wondering if if journalists are being asked not to ask about Orco. Like that's a nofly zone is for Orcco. I'm not quite sure. But Orco, like I said, he has a complicated past.
This is the past. This is something that you can really utilize in a story and make a character like him strong. But he's also a character that you could do that more in a sequel. You bring him into the first one like, "Oh, where am I? I'm in." That's a really bad impression. You're like, "Oh, I'm in Eternia." And then the second movie, you can more expand on him and who he is and his lore. And maybe you can even use that as the storyline for a sequel. But are we getting a sequel? Time's going to tell. This movie's got to make bank to do that. I'm going to go see it. I cannot wait. Let me know your thoughts in the comments down below. Thank you so much for watching, everybody. I really appreciate your time. Hit that like button and subscribe. Until next time, may you be the master of your own universe.
